Hello! The three of us (me, husband and 10-year-old son) rested in Sharm El-Sheikh from 02/27/2010 to 03/13/2010. After a long, thorough search for hotels on the websites of various tour operators and reading the reviews of previously rested compatriots, we chose the AA Amwaj Hotel & Resort (5 stars). The novelty of the hotel (built in 2007), a lot of positive reviews and a good price-quality ratio (65 thousand rubles for three from Moscow for 15 days / 14 nights) spoke in favor of this hotel.
Arrived in the country from the tour operator Pegas Touristik. Met, taken to the hotel (half an hour drive from the airport) in an organized manner, without incident. The hotel guide Dmitry Simonenko is very responsible, gives complete information about everything, answers any questions, is present at the hotel every day, is interested in the rest of his "wards" - respect to him and special thanks!
The hotel has 2 main buildings located in a semicircle, a lobby building with restaurants and shops, as well as several detached villas. The territory of the hotel is large, very well-groomed, green, beautiful both during the day and in the evening. There is a tennis court, free during daylight hours. Three swimming pools: one is round heated, the second is unheated for children and the third is large in the form of an intricately shaped river, also without heating.

Among vacationers, 30 percent are Russian-speaking, the rest are English, Italians, Poles, Germans. There are no signs of discrimination against Russians in the hotel - the same attitude towards everyone.
This hotel turned out to be one of the best in Nabq Bay, at least visually. Within a radius of 3 km on both sides of it, our hotel had one of the most beautiful areas and the longest and most well-groomed beach.
We checked in late in the evening. A bribe was not put in the documents, so we got a generally good, spacious room in one of the main buildings on the 3rd floor, but with a view of the garden and the neighboring building. We wanted to go out onto the balcony and see the sea, the bright colors of the local vegetation, which is densely planted on the territory of the hotel, and the blue pool in the form of a river. With this question the next day we turned to the reception and we were offered a choice of several rooms. We chose a room on the third floor with a direct view of the pool and a side sea view, for which we paid $ 65 (2000 rubles) for 13 nights, i. e. $5 per night. In any case, it is much cheaper than booking a room with a sea view through a travel agency, which would cost about 4.500 rubles. Moreover, there is no direct sea view in the hotel.
Our room had 2 single beds, standing separately from each other. We asked for an extra bed for a child. They brought us a single bed of the same format, we pushed all the beds together and we got a kind of “seal rookery”. The beds in the rooms are very comfortable, linen of good quality, changed daily. The room is good, a large balcony with a wicker table and two chairs, a refrigerator (no bar, which eliminates possible misunderstandings when leaving), a kettle (tea, coffee, sugar in large quantities), a safe, a hairdryer, a cosmetic mirror. There were no creeping and flying creatures, except for a few mosquitoes at night: take mosquito repellent with you, best of all, a fumigator with a liquid cartridge. The room was cleaned daily, quite efficiently, with a daily change of towels (although sometimes the cleaners forgot to leave the third set of towels). Shower gel, shampoos, soaps, etc. changed only once and then, after once for the whole holiday we left a tip ($ 1) to the cleaners. By the way, the quality of cleaning did not depend on the presence or absence of a tip. And, in general, the service staff is indifferent to tips, there were no cases of extortion or even hints of receiving money. Drinking water - 2 small bottles (0.5 l) was delivered to the room only 1 time upon check-in. You can draw water from coolers in the restaurant and pool bar, but be careful - the staff does not like this and openly demonstrates it. True, few people paid attention to this, and therefore everyone: both Russians and foreigners drew water from these same coolers. We bought water a couple of times in grocery stores opposite the hotel for $ 1 for a 7-liter bottle.

The restaurant has a large selection of dishes and desserts. Even without being picky eaters, we can say that in terms of food the restaurant does not correspond to the level of 5 stars - the choice is large, but monotonous. Some beautiful, delicious dishes from the chef for dinner (as is customary in some hotels in Turkey) were not offered. One can hardly talk about the all-inclusive system - the usual three meals a day (buffet): there is nothing to eat between main meals, except for sandwiches at the bar and at the beach restaurant, freshly squeezed juices - for an additional fee ($ 3), ice cream - also for a fee. Fruit selection is limited: tangerines, oranges, melons, grapefruits and dates.
The restaurant is not entirely clean (several times came across poorly washed cutlery), a lot of flies. The waiters conscientiously remove dirty dishes from under your nose, but they are in no hurry to put clean cutlery in this place (it used to be that there were a lot of empty seats at the tables, but the tables were not cleared). They are also in no hurry to bring alcohol: they would have time to clean up the dirty dishes after everyone, so we took everything that we needed (in the sense of alcohol) from the bartender ourselves, and this did not bother us at all. By the way, out of all the variety of good quality alcoholic drinks, there was only local beer, and it can be called good without any stretch. The rest of the drinks, especially the wines from the bags, were simply impossible to drink. Queues of vacationers are a common occurrence: for tea, toast and scrambled eggs in the morning.
Parents, be careful! In serious cases, contact the Moscow representative office of the insurance company and discuss the condition of your children with Russian doctors.
Well, we continued to relax! We swam in the beautiful Red Sea with chic coral reefs and amazingly beautiful fish (you feel like a member of the Cousteau expedition or like in a very beautiful aquarium). To inspect all these wonders, we prudently brought with us masks and pipes bought in our hometown at a high price. As it turned out, all this stuff can be bought in the shops opposite the hotel quite cheaply (from $5 to $25, depending on the quality). So do not drag these personal belongings with you - buy everything on the spot.

The hotel pontoon is one of the best in the area: not very long - 400 meters (for comparison, the neighboring one is more than 1 km), and, going down from it, you immediately see a gorgeous coral reef with a lot of bright colored fish. For non-swimmers or vacationers with children, there is a suitable pontoon to the left, one from our pontoon (on the territory of the Laguna Vista Hotel) - there is a beautiful sandy bottom and depth up to the chest.
The hotel has its own beach: spacious, clean, always a lot of free sunbeds. On the beach, you can rent a catamaran for $ 20 per hour and watch reefs and fish right from it, lowering your face in a mask with a snorkel into the sea. We did it - we liked it.
The pool also has no problems with free sunbeds, all sunbeds are new with good mattresses. Both on the beach and by the pool, attentive staff, at the first signal, hurrying to you to open umbrellas and move sun loungers.
The animation is Russian (9 people), the guys are young, active, positive, charging with their energy. Games are played daily: water polo in the pool, football, volleyball on the beach, water aerobics in the pool, lessons of oriental and Latin dances. In the evening, shows, performances, competitions, a lottery are organized, they are taken to discos in other hotels. There is a children's animator who works with young children, children's discos are held in the evening, but all this is for children under 7 years old. Our boy was bored, his peers were not in the hotel.
We managed to go with "Pegasus" to Israel for a daily excursion with a visit to the holy places in Jerusalem and the Dead Sea. On the way to Jerusalem, we were taken to the Kapriz jewelry factory, where souvenirs, icons, candles and other religious paraphernalia were sold at inflated prices, which can be bought 3 times cheaper in shops right on the way to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. But I liked the tour itself. I was lucky with the guide (name is Lyuba), under her most interesting story I never wanted to take a nap, masterfully kept my attention and really broadened my horizons. The road is too heavy - it takes 7 hours to go and there is an inadequacy of the price that is asked for this excursion (too expensive - $ 580 for three, including a child). We went on another excursion - a supermoto safari on ATVs in the desert, followed by camel riding and dinner with local dances from the Bedouins. Liked.

We didn't go to the pyramids. According to the stories of those who went, the tour is disappointing: solid races to imposed shops and only 20 minutes to see the pyramids.
We went to the city in the evenings. A good 15-minute walk from the hotel is a good grocery supermarket "Metro" with fixed prices, fast food McDonald's and Burger King, there are branded stores Adidas, Diesel. Along the road, starting from the Tropicana Grand Azur, there are many shops that sell fake branded clothes of good quality, leather bags, silver (we bought good quality Italian 925 silver jewelry at a price 2.5 times cheaper than Russian), souvenirs etc. The initial prices for everything are 2 times too high, it is quite possible to drop them to an acceptable level. But you have to bargain with the locals and do it wisely, knowing the peculiarities of their trade, otherwise you can run into their inadequate reaction.
We ran into. In the shop opposite the Tropicana Hotel there is a piece of paper with the inscription in Russian “Joseph is not a miser”. Somehow, walking in the evening through souvenir shops, we wandered to this Joseph, spotted souvenirs that we liked there, found out the price and promised to go for them next time. The promise was kept, they came, they began to bargain, as is customary, but the seller refused to yield. Well there is no way. We got ready for the exit. We did not expect such a violent reaction from the Basurman - the seller literally attacked us with shouts and threats, not letting us out of the shop. It turns out that he believed that we were obliged to buy these masks from him, if we promised. In general, there was a scandal. Then the owner came running, the same “Joseph is not a miser”, and explained that they don’t trade without swearing, that everything is fine, nothing special happened. Nevertheless, we bought souvenirs at a discount, after which, taking advantage of the appearance of the English in the shop, we fled from there with relief. A trifle, but an unpleasant aftertaste remained.
Finishing this lengthy story, we can safely recommend the AA Amwaj Hotel & Resort for recreation. For an adequate price you will get a decent rest, interesting pastime, quality service. For everything except food, the hotel deserves a rating of "5"!
