After a summer trip to Turkey, they decided to go to Egypt in the winter anyway. Everything would be fine, and a trip was planned for mid-December, but then the damn government intervened: for the first time, universities (my wife is a student) were closed for quarantine in the event of the flu. So I had to plan a vacation for the first half of January. We decided to rest in Hurghada. We chose the hotel for a long time, and when we finally decided on the list of suitable ones, it turned out that there were no more seats for the flight. As of 28.12. 2009 DEPARTURES to Egypt from Ukraine until 9.01. 2010 WAS NO LONGER, despite the fact that there were enough places in hotels. ECONOMIC CRISIS ?? ? !!!! ! !!
Thank God 4.01. 2010 suddenly appeared flights to Sharm el-Sheikh at 6.01. Coral Travel, which is available only for the network of agencies "Hot Tours", had to take from them. After reading the reviews, they still chose Rotana (in fairness, I note that within $ 1.600 for two, the choice was not great).
Immediately upset the mandatory Christmas Eve $ 75 per person, which other Ukrainian tour operators were optional, and which was likely not to have time. But more on that later.

"There" flew the airline Windrose. We were pleasantly surprised and very pleased with the excellent new Embraer-195 aircraft, excellent professional crew and excellent service.
Transfer performed by Odeon - everything is clear, almost fast (some "our" tourists, as always, slowed down at all stages).
Upon arrival at the hotel we tried to cut down $ 10 per night for a room in a 4B or 4C building with sea views. Due to the fact that the desired buildings 1.2 and 3 are occupied, agreed to $ 50, and when it turned out that they do not have rooms with the desired double bed, we were accommodated free of charge in room 459 on the second floor (4C building) overlooking building 3A, sea , amphitheater and airport. I will note at once, the view from the balconies of the 4B building is better, and in my opinion the 3A building is optimal. But, most importantly, to have a second floor.
The rooms are not bad, there is enough space, everything is clean, neat, except for the showers - a little walk, and showers without a hose, which in the absence of a bidet is quite inconvenient. Although the TV showed a bunch of satellite channels, including ORT, RTR, New and First Information, it was also a little tired. But everything worked fine throughout the stay. However, once the safe did not want to open, the problem was very quickly eliminated by the hotel staff with a key. There was always hot water, but sometimes, when everyone came to the rooms at the same time after sunset, the pressure was low.
Now about Christmas Eve. We still had time for it, and some who paid the required 75 Baku per person arrived at the hotel only at 12 p. m. , respectively, saw only the end of the disco. I liked the dinner, in principle, but it was definitely not worth the money.
Food.

Breakfast: the range of food is quite large, but the same day after day (cheese, sausage, potatoes, sausages, cucumbers, tomatoes, eggs, yogurt, breakfast cereals, rolls), fried scrambled eggs or omelet with additives to choose from; fresh for $ 1, yuppie, very medium tea and coffee. Lunches and dinners are more interesting: 1-2 first courses, salads, fresh vegetables, 2-3 main dishes (fish, chicken, beef in different forms were almost always, there was also turkey, lamb), a side dish of rice or potatoes in different forms, vegetable hot dishes, spaghetti. Baking and cakes are a huge choice. Of the fruits were dates, tangerines, oranges, grapefruits, melons (not simultaneously, but sequentially). For lunch and dinner, the waiters brought glasses of white or red wine of very medium quality or beer. Alcohol was not updated without tips! In 3 p. m. near the lower pool there was ice cream in the range of up to 2 in hand.
Drinks in bars are digestible: normal cola, sprite, beer.
More often drank cocktails: rum-cola, gin and tonic, Tiran (with Ouzo), sprite with Ouzo. There is a 1.5 liter bottle of water per room per day, they note.
Dinner at the fish restaurant A la carte (1 time included in the price of AI) very mediocre (sprat soup, Caesar salad, fish with rice, which can be eaten in the main restaurant, dessert of egg white). Pleased only by the relatively good bottled wine.
Cockroaches were not seen. Mosquitoes and flies are eroded. Mosquitoes are more successful, flies sometimes appear in small numbers.
The area near the hotel is not small, more or less green, beautiful, many flowers, cacti.
The beach is so-so, three-tiered, not very comfortable, narrow. There are enough sunbeds. There is no bar, shower, toilet on the beach! ! ! ! ! But they are going to open a new (long forgotten old) beach on the right and it will be very cool, because there is almost no wind, it is comfortable, there will be a bar, shower.
Entrance to the sea only from a floating pontoon. The latter is very stressful. The impression is compensated by the sea.
Lots of different fish. There are good corals. In general, the mask and the tube were taken for a reason. If you swim well and are not afraid, you can swim behind the buoy fence to the right along the corals. The rescuer will whistle, because there is a current, but it can simply be ignored.
They did not swim in the pools. Jacuzzi is good.
The animation was. Not great, but fine. And in the afternoon they tried to occupy people and in the evening they tried to create something.

Now about the service. Good! It would be great if it were not for the gluttony of many waiters in the dining room, brought up by Russian and Ukrainian tourists, and not an attempt to rip off money for an already allocated room at the reception (see above). Cleaned the room properly, towels, linen changed constantly. And this without any tips. In gratitude for being allowed not to clean the room one day, the next day they saw swans and hearts made of towels.
One thing was very stressful - the contingent - the absolute majority - the Russians, less Ukrainians.
I do not love our people. . . It is much easier with foreigners, they are civilized. . .
In general, the hotel corresponds to its Egyptian 4 *, even 4 * + in all respects and is really better than some Egyptian 5 * hotels. They try, but they need to grow up to a great level.
We went on an excursion with Odeon, because the local travel agencies are very far from the hotel, somehow stupid, suddenly abandoned or forgotten. We went to Mount Moses and Ras Mohammed. Satisfied. But the first is very tedious. It is better to descend from the mountain by a short road - on the steps, very beautiful. A guide with a very crappy knowledge of the Russian language (another stone in the Coral travel garden) spoiled the impression. Everything was corrected by the guide Omar, who took us to Ras Mohammed. Just a good man: he speaks Russian very well, told a lot of interesting things, with humor. . . In general, Ras Mohammed has a fabulously beautiful sea.
They flew with UIA.
Surprisingly, it is bad, especially compared to the Wind Rose; flew to Turkey on UIA - there were no questions. Delayed boarding the plane. We sat on the plane for more than half an hour, waiting for takeoff. The stewards delivered food and drinks for almost three hours. The pilot, however, is a professional. Maybe just unlucky with a particular plane. . .
Summing up, I note that if you want, despite all the difficulties, in the winter in Egypt you can have a good rest. The main thing: do not pick on the little things!
