Local merchants are a bit clingy, but everything is in moderation. Friendly and hospitable if you talk and buy something from them.
They treat them with tea, help burnt tourists for free, and generally like to chat. They sell mostly light clothing (normal fakes: T-shirts, polo shirts, shorts, scarves and beach covers) and swimming accessories. Plus all sorts of oils and teas.
And, of course, souvenirs. Everything is cheap and the quality is right.
If you want something special for your home or a gift, I advise you to go near the canteen on the left to the NARMER store - ivory products. Expensive - but beautiful. There are not many stores like this in the world. The owner is a friendly young man.
