I am leaving a review because I am always interested in the opinion of tourists about hotels and tourist places and I choose a vacation spot thanks to the impressions of independent experts.
We returned from the Grand Rotana Hotel just a few days ago, rested in the first half of November 2018.
Tour operator Joyne Up. The departure was on time, the Sky Up plane is not old, there are drinks on board - yes, but they don’t feed. From the airport to the hotel a maximum of 30 minutes to go with stops.
We arrived in the evening, when it got dark, and the hotel area made an impression: VERY BEAUTIFUL, this impression accompanied our entire vacation.
A well-groomed illuminated palm park, a long promenade along the sea with comfortable benches, a lot of flowering bushes and flowers, I think, will not leave anyone indifferent.
The hall of the main building has escalators, air conditioners work, you especially appreciate it when you are tired and return from a hot beach.
We checked in in a few minutes, things can be brought to the building on an electric car, but we were escorted on foot, because building No. 7 is located very close to the reception.
This is a building with standard rooms overlooking the villas. The main building and villas protect it from the noise of concerts and discotheques, so it is quiet there almost at any time. Room 7005.
Perhaps for the first time in many trips, we practically did not hear our neighbors. They were, of course, but when they turned on the TV or took a shower, we could not hear. Room on the first floor with a terrace (almost all hotel rooms have a spacious balcony or terrace). Furniture and plumbing are already a bit old, but everything is well maintained, more or less clean. Everything is working. Great new safe. Everything you need for a shower is there, the hair dryer works. With us, the mattresses were changed to completely new ones (they no longer smell : )). These are pluses.
Cons - not tightly closing front door lets in ANY noise from the street. Therefore, tightly closed windows have almost no effect if the sound comes from the side of the door. The pillows are very uncomfortable.
I can’t praise the food: it’s not at all to my taste. If you want to fill your stomach - yes, you will not stay hungry. But enjoying food is almost impossible. The food does not have a pronounced taste, but is richly flavored with spices. Much has been set, but the dishes are repeated, not always warm enough. I didn't even like the omelet. Pancakes are almost non-existent. There are very few jams, only at the end of our vacation they began to put small jars with good jam on the tables. There is a children's or dietary table. The juices are delicious. Sweets are so-so. We had dinner at a fish restaurant. There, for the first time, we felt the taste of normal food.
The beach is not sand, but very small pebbles, you need slippers. There are many sun loungers, but by mid-November a lot of vacationers arrived and by 8 o'clock all the best places were occupied.
In the bar on the beach, they pour, distribute water, juices, delicious peanuts, ice cream, food in the middle of the day, etc.
RIF is excellent. The fish just swim around you. Even on excursions along the coast, the reefs were not better, they were different - yes, but the hotel's reef is not inferior.
From excursions we took a VIP pirate yacht, bought it from a guide, decided not to bother and not look for a local agency. I really enjoyed the yacht trip. There were not many people, the staff was sufficient. The yacht is clean and dry. Drinks and tea were offered all the time. Excellent fresh seafood lunch. Rescuers helped to learn how to swim with a mask, did not leave attention in the sea. And in the end, in honor of the birthday of one of the vacationers, there was an incendiary mini-disco with the participation of the yacht's crew. Back for dinner: great day and great trip.
I would not recommend an excursion to Soho Square. Waste of time: nothing to look at, nothing to do, just smoke a hookah, drink something and look at the crowds wandering around.
Returning to the airport was also no problem. Bus on time. At Sharm El Sheikh airport, you need to carefully look at the scoreboard and stay close to the boarding gate in order to see the airport employee letting you in. They do not announce anything, they randomly write something on the scoreboard when the departure time changes, and it is the employees who command everything. They also flew back from Sky Up, they were delayed for 1 hour, but the rest is normal.
In general, I can recommend the hotel. Whoever has problems with the stomach or anything else from the gastrointestinal tract, food will not work, except perhaps a children's table. I want to thank Inna (guest relations officer) for the assistance, attention and correctness in resolving issues.
