We rested in Egypt in Sharm el-Sheikh for a whole month - from 29.09. 09 to 27.10. 09 One week at the Maritim Peninsula Jolie Ville, three weeks at the Savita Resort & SPA. We paid 15.400 re for the ticket (flight by Don-Avia (formerly Aeroflot-Don), transfer from the airport and to the airport, accommodation in all-inclusive hotels, we paid for the transfer between hotels ourselves - $ 12 / taxi, tour operator wanted $40 for this service).
Departure was from Sheremetyevo-1 airport, terminal "C". Everything is expensive in a cafe, as in all airports, a small bottle of BonAqua costs 80 rubles. But there is a store on the second floor, it's cheaper there : ) We flew out without delay. Aircraft - IL-86. In Egypt, they have been trying to ban them for several years because of the excess of euro-noise standards. But they all fly and fly. We flew safely (thanks to pilot Ivanov! ). On the plane, they insistently asked not to drink, threatened with sanctions "at the port of arrival. " But many got drunk well and got nothing for it. Arrived in the evening, around 8 o'clock. We were cold and rainy.
And in Sharm - hot and humid.

Territory.

Maritim Peninsula is close to the airport, as are all hotels in Sharm. The hotel asked for a non-smoking room. We were given room 5505. The whole hotel consists of one- and two-story buildings with a rounded shape. Each of them has about 20 bungalow rooms. Each number has an elongated and tapering shape towards the center. Imagine a cut cake, this is what the bungalow buildings look like from above. And each piece of the pie is a separate room with access to the street. In general, our room was located quite well in relation to the restaurant, bar and pool. We did not pay for the pool-view, so we were not surprised that it was not there : ) The room itself is large and corresponds to the posted photos, except that the photos were taken immediately after finishing, and we arrived a couple of years later. The rugs are shabby, the cabinets are worn. But in general, it is spacious, nice, 4-seater beds: ) Made in the colonial style. Large spacious bathroom.
Probably 10 meters, with two sinks, a bathtub, a shower, a bidet, but the toilet was shoved into the very corner. You sit on it like an orphan, pressing against the wall. In general, these communal amenities are the main advantage of the hotel. The entire area is dry scorched earth. In some places the grass is green, in some places it is yellow. Palms. The mountains are visible behind the reception. It's actually a desert there. The main decoration of the hotel is the pool in the middle, with a jacuzzi. We swam there once, and foreigners lie all day. They don't even go to sea.

Sea.

You have probably heard that there is no sea there. Buses do run every 15 minutes. But to say that it does not cause any trouble is by no means. Yes, if you are going there, you can wait for the bus, sitting on the couch next to the reception, there is air conditioning. But if you are going back...You have to first rise in the heat like this to the 5th floor, and then sit at 35 degrees and wait for the bus, and if all the seats on two benches are occupied, stand.
It reminds me of some medieval torture. Waiting for the bus in 35-degree heat. But it happens, you're lucky, the bus comes right away and you rejoice like a baby. By the way, the road to the sea takes 8 minutes and goes along the concrete fence behind which are the abandoned non-residential villas of Maritim Golf. There were always sun loungers on the beach, the upper "decks" were empty. The beach is carved into the rock with several floors. The berth is iron, but comfortable. The line of the sea is very narrow, about 5 meters. I mean a place for swimming. From the coast there is a shoal with corals. Entrance only from the pontoon. And behind the shallows, a rather sharp cliff immediately begins, the bottom goes to the depth. Accordingly, you can swim only in this five-meter "corridor" separated by buoys. There are beautiful corals and a lot of various fish (in Savite, where we then went, there are fewer fish, as it seemed to me). There is a bar on Maritima Beach. There you can eat at lunchtime and take drinks.
They wrote a lot about the fact that they are paid, now this is not so. All drinks, including beer and alcoholic cocktails, are free. There are few people on the beach and in the water.
There were also very few people in the hotel. Probably 100 people. And, honestly, 60 people of them are Russians. Well, a Russian hotel, really.

Nutrition.

Big cute restaurant. It stands on a hill, it can be seen from all sides. In the evening it invitingly beckons with lights. A standard set of dishes, but in general there are not enough of them. Everything edible is displayed in the center of the hall on a small patch. And with Turkish abundance can not be compared. And this is understandable - there are very few people. Even with what was on display, I was surprised that such a small number of people clearly did not justify the amount of food. Usually for dinner they gave fried fish (salmon fillet), stew (goulash), some kind of chicken, something specially prepared "for distribution" (that is, the cook stands and gives out a piece), for example, turkey or lamb leg.
Several types of side dishes - potatoes, rice, stewed vegetables, fries in the children's corner, steamed vegetables without spices and boiled meat. There were also various salads and vegetables in their pure form, sauces. There were also sushi, but they do not stand up to criticism, a Japanese chef would make hara-kiri : ) Different breads and a large selection of very tasty desserts. From fruits - apples, figs, pears, dates.

The drinks.

Here is the most unpleasant topic in the Maritim Peninsula. Water. As you remember, teeth in Egypt should be cleaned with bottled water. But she's not in the room. It is only eaten at breakfast in a restaurant (during these blessed hours of the morning, you can at least pour yourself a bottle of water and a glass of juice yourself). The rest of the time, water is given out at your request, 0.5 liters each, and you have to ask for it all the time. Here and there. And drag it to your room like some kind of hamster.
The hotel has several restaurants. The main restaurant, a barbecue restaurant in the middle of the pool and a restaurant on the beach.
In the central one - a buffet, in the rest - a la carde. But drinks EVERYWHERE are brought only by waiters. Without exaggeration, I can characterize the manner of their service as "silent extortion". In the restaurant, as I already wrote, there are very few people. For ten tables - 3 waiters, plus an administrator and a horse-type girl (standing, looking, meeting guests). And so you order water and, for example, two glasses of wine. They take your order, write down the room number, leave. After 7 minutes you catch this smiling waiter and ask - where, Yoshkin cat, is my water? "Now-now" - says the waiter and disappears again. After another 5 minutes, you go to the administrator, they bring you water and wine. The waiter hits himself on the forehead: forgot, guilty, excus mi!! ! I would believe, but this scene was repeated many times.

But later I observed the following picture: the waiter received a tip, brought it to the administrator, who, smiling happily, puts it under the desk, and nods approvingly to the waiter: come on, come on, work. They began to tip and the service improved before our eyes. I remember giving the waiter at the barbecue bar 20 pounds (4 dollars), he brought two bottles of water - "as a gift. " So either pay or relax.

Entertainment.

They are not here. Boredom is the main sadness of the Maritim Peninsula. After dinner, one road - to the bar, it is next to the central restaurant, 15 meters away. There you can listen to songs of either a Russian or a Ukrainian girl. From the Russian repertoire - songs by Agutin in 1905 and Alexander, ours, Rybak. And then, he sings no more than an hour. After that, you can go to bed. Or go to Naama Bay for entertainment. It's a 5 minute drive from the hotel and costs $10.
In Maritim there is a "gallery of shops", however, there is only one shop, the rest, apparently, do not pull rent with such a small number of tourists. BUT!
We were in Egypt for the first time and thought, mamma mia, if this is a VIP hotel, what will happen next? But Savite turned out to be much better. In general, we understood - for us - big hotels, where there are a lot of people. Everything is different there, but that, as they say, is a completely different story. Have a good holiday everyone! And read our review about Savita Resort!
