We were going together with a girl to spend the New Year in Egypt. We read hundreds of reviews, both on this site and in foreign ones. The results varied, but they chose Seal Life 4 * because he scored the largest number of votes among 4 * hotels and in many ways (according to reviews), surpassed 5 *. I will say right away that this is our first visit to Egypt as tourists. In order not to shed dissatisfaction in vain, I will say that there are concepts about 3 *, 4 * and 5 * hotels in European, Asian and American hotels.

So, let's start with arrival and accommodation:

Having read that if you don’t give money at the reception, you won’t get a good room, I decided to put in $20 and asked for a quiet place and a clean room. At the reception, the guy understood everything and assured that everything would be fine. Gave us a key, made a couple of calls, and sent a porter with us.

The first impression of the territory was pleasant, well-manicured lawns, neat landscaping, clean large pools and a large number of sun loungers around. In general, first impressions were very positive. We were alarmed by the fact that, when asked to give a quiet room, we were settled opposite the amphitheater, where animation programs were held from 2030 to 2200 (but, okay, we decided that it would still be interesting to see what was there and how, without leaving the room).
Number:
At first it seemed clean until the lights were turned on. The first thing that caught my eye was the lack of basic things - soap, shampoo, shower gel, extra towels for feet, slippers, bathrobes. But this was not the worst thing, but the fact that after removing the coverlet, we found that the bed was not fresh and even with blood stains on the pillow and sheet (see photo). After taking photos, I went to the reception and asked to fix everything.
The guy who took $20 for a "clean number" fidgeted and started cutting phones. After 10 minutes, a gang of Arabs came to us and began to make the appearance of cleaning. There was also a bathrobe (only one), slippers and everything else. After they left, we toured the bathroom. Of course, she left much to be desired. Although it is clear that not everything is completely new, but it could have been cleaned cleaner. Our only requirement was the cleanliness of the room. We were not interested in what kind of beer they give in the bar, what kind of alcohol and how much. We understood that we were going for diving, impressions and relaxation. Until the end of the rest, they washed in the shower without taking off their slippers so as not to catch the fungus and treated the toilet bowl and other plumbing with an antiseptic (brought from home).
Room cleaning was a stretch for 3+.
It consisted of making swans, moving personal items on the table (simulating cleaning) but not wiping it, and hanging an old "disenfected" ribbon on the toilet, although it was far from "just clean" to him. Dust and sand, as it was on the floor, so it periodically migrated from one corner to another.

Fortunately, I had dealings with the Arabs and represent the policy of the Egyptians in the service sector, so I was not surprised at anything, but the girl was upset by this beginning. But they always took money from the bedside table and did not forget : ). I even checked, left different amounts - the quality did not change, the amount of money depends on the beauty of a swan, or a flower from towels. But then the euphoria quickly disappears when you imagine that the cleaner first washed the toilet, and then (of course! ) did not wash his hands and collected Egyptian artifacts from bath towels for you.

Public catering:
Meals were Super AI, which meant the ability to eat on the territory of the entire Sea Group complex, including the Sea Club 5 *.
The difference between food at 4 * and 5 * is not significant, at 5 * the restaurant is brighter, larger, the waiters are quicker, the choice of dishes is slightly larger, but still from fruits, except for bananas and dates, and unripe persimmons, sometimes apples slipped through. The main diet consisted of greens, standard dishes such as fish, chicken, scrambled eggs and was periodically diluted with rice and potatoes with different types of pasta. The food is also on a solid triplet. Food at the pools looks like a kebab in a bun + drinks. From drinks, it’s really impossible to drink strong drinks, in addition, we were told by the locals that there are only a few distilleries in the whole of Sinai and they can’t cope, therefore, the rest is bodyed out of some unknown reason. Beer - something reminiscent of "Zhigulevskoe".

Beach:
Not bad. There are a couple of places to enter the water and one pier about 50 meters. There's nothing to say, picturesque corals, sea fish!

Animators:
No animation. Never had a desire to participate somewhere.
Given that the hotel is occupied by 60% of those under 40, it's still boring. Evening performances are akin to school KVN. It is very rare when more than 3-5 people were recruited in various competitions (and this is with the almost full occupancy of the hotel).

Travel program:
The main thing we went for was scuba diving. Of course, there were no complaints. We went on a boat to Ras Mohammed and dived there. I will not describe who dived, he will understand, who did not dive, will not be imbued.

Quad biking in the desert before dawn - here, I would not recommend. We chose the morning program so as not to waste the day on skiing and therefore we got up at 0400, until 0500 we collected people from hotels (Rehana - the most disorganized, or drunk, barely walking, or late, because they have breakfast on the way) and from 0530 to 0630 we traveled over the rocks near the mountains (those near the airport), looked at (like) a Bedouin haven : ), met the dawn and went to the hotels.
But we caught the light day and spent it on snorkeling.
Water park - one time. If anyone has a child, that will be fun. We were told that there were about 70 slides and many extreme ones, but in reality there were 2-3 serious ones, the rest for women and children. Full day trip, meals at the water park.

New Year's program:
HORROR! Just none. Here are two things that do not let you say that the trip was a success - a dirty room and New Year's Eve. At 2200, food was already being taken away, and there were no more drinks on the tables for the chiming clock. The food was excellent, really worth it, but the show itself is all the same dull animators from school amateur performances. It is not clear why they turned on immediately after the chimes struck the song of Leningrad WWW? ? ? But it was immediately possible to identify the Russian-speaking population : )
Outcome:
The second time we will go to Egypt only with a strong desire to dive again with scuba gear, we will not stop at the Sea Life Hotel in any case. On New Year's Eve it is better to go to another place, but not to Sharm.

The hotel is occupied by 30% Germans 10% Italians 50% Russian-speaking and 10% "Russian-speaking" conspirators - Moldovans, Balts, etc.

it is not clear how such a beautiful (from the outside) hotel, with such a territory, cannot keep up the level of animation, cleaning and food?

p. p. s and now it’s real, it’s not clear where 8.1 out of 10 comes from? Well, honestly, no more than 6.5!
