We ended up in Egypt quite by accident, instead of Thailand. The day before departure, I bought tickets, already in Domodedovo I booked a hotel for one day. The choice fell on the Mazar Resort&Spa hotel. Firstly, it is very close to the airport, and secondly, it was recommended to us by an Egyptian friend. Since the arrival was at night, we did not hesitate. At 5 am we were at the hotel (about 5 minutes by car).
We were greeted by the night porter. Our documents were quickly scanned by a hotel worker who approached us (as it turned out in the evening, it was the owner himself). I wanted to pay by card, but due to problems with the Internet, we agreed to pay in the morning. The night porter took us to our room. I liked the room right away. Two rooms, terrace with access to the pool, large bathroom, small kitchen area. We quickly took a shower and went to bed.
In the morning I woke up at about 9 o'clock. We drank coffee (I always have a small kettle with me), had breakfast with our supplies. I paid for the past day, and we went to the beach, first finding out until what time we can not leave the room. The manager replied that we can occupy the room until 14:00. The road to the sea took 20-25 minutes. Upon returning to the hotel, we were met by the gentleman who received us at night. He introduced himself as Mr. Assem. I said that we were moving to another hotel, explaining that we liked the hotel and the beach, but the location of the hotel made it difficult for evening walks. Mr. Assem began to ask us to stay, said that they would take us to the beach, and in the evening to any part of the city, back and forth. And he also said that he would be very glad to receive Russian guests. We were interested in the offer, as we really liked the hotel itself. I began to specify the price, in the end we got a discount. Everything, the decision is made, we stay at the hotel for the rest of the week. I paid for the half-board accommodation and meals in dollars and exchanged part of the dollars for pounds (Mr. Assem did the exchange at the bank rate). After that, we went to thoroughly accommodate in the room.

In the afternoon we sunbathed around the pool, surprised that we did not see other guests. It turned out that only 10 rooms were occupied in the hotel. This is not surprising, since mid-February in Sharm is still cool, not at all the season. Before dinner, sitting in the lobby, we finally learned that the gentleman who received us was the owner of the hotel, Mr. Assem. He turned out to be a very pleasant, intelligent, sociable person. My English is not very good, and my friends are generally at the level of the fourth grade. But we communicated well, sometimes with the help of Google translator, sometimes just facial expressions. Mr. Assem asked us where we wanted to go in the evening. It turned out that both we and a couple from France living at the hotel wanted to go to Soho. Great, we agreed that we all have dinner and go to Soho. Dinner was delicious and plentiful. After dinner, Mr. Assem drove us to Soho, picked us up at the agreed time. Then we sat in the lobby and talked. Such a program was every day - breakfast, beach (by Mr. Assem's car or on foot), internet in the lobby, dinner, a trip somewhere in Sharm, gatherings in the lobby until night. Mr. Assem comes to the lobby area every evening, enjoying talking with all his guests.
Very quickly we got to know the rest of the hotel staff. As Mr. Assem said, everyone works with him for a long time, and everyone can be trusted. Already on the second day, we did not close the door and the balcony, we left everything in the room in plain sight. And we just fell in love with the entire staff of the hotel, starting with Mr. Assem and ending with the cleaner Hyuny, who was affectionately nicknamed Hanyushka (following us, all the hotel employees began to call him that). And on the day of departure, we parted with them, as with members of our family. I note that all employees diligently learn Russian, almost everyone speaks English, Mr. Assem speaks English and Italian.
I will return to the detailed description of the hotel. The Mazar Resort & Spa 3 * hotel was recently repurchased and thoroughly renovated. Renovation at the hotel is ongoing, another part of the houses and a Bedouin village are next in line. (Repair completed in the working part of the hotel). At the entrance to the hotel there is a frame for the passage. There is a guard here at all times. In the central building there is a reception, a lobby area, a restaurant (open and closed parts), a bar; SPA is located on the 2nd floor. There are also a few shops, but they are still empty. Two-story residential houses of the hotel are interconnected by passages on both floors, in the center of the territory there is a swimming pool. On the roofs of the houses there are covered gazebos and wooden sofas with tables. There are mosquitoes here all year round, so close windows and doors tightly before dark. If necessary, the room will be treated with a mosquito spray. The hotel has a large covered car park.
Number. Almost all hotel rooms are the same, they differ in the presence of a terrace or balcony and a view of the pool or the street. The rooms are two-room, furnished with wooden furniture. The living room has a large corner sofa, coffee table, bench at the entrance, LCD TV. The bedroom has a large double bed, table, ottoman, two bedside tables, LCD TV. There are rooms with separate beds. Lots of outlets. Air conditioners are built-in, they work only on cold air. The bathroom has a shower room, a sink with a large countertop, a toilet and a bidet. There is a hair dryer. Liquid soap in the shower and near the sink. 2 towels are issued, large and medium. Opposite the bathroom there is a 3-door wardrobe, there is a safe. Next to the kitchenette. There is a sink, a small refrigerator. There is no kettle or crockery. After my request, they gave us glasses. The room is cleaned every other day.

Pool area. There are many comfortable sunbeds, there are covered gazebos (when we were there, they were not closed yet). The pool is not deep. Most of the pool is very shallow, here, as well as around the pool, there are sun loungers. From morning to evening, the animator Costa works here. In the morning he exercises. After the beach, we enjoyed playing beach badminton and darts by the pool. Music is on from morning to evening, if necessary, you can ask to turn down the volume. Towels are provided free of charge.
Lobby area. There are two large sofas and several armchairs. You can order drinks at the bar (as I understand, alcohol is not sold here, and it is not included in the ALL meal type). There is also a large TV set. Tours can be booked in the lobby area of Mr. Mikhail.
Internet. There are two wi-fi zones, a lobby and a pool. The cost is $ 1 per day, for both. In the rooms near the balcony walls, Wi-Fi is caught in the pool area.
Nutrition. Again, with us in the hotel there were very few vacationers. Therefore, there was no buffet, everyone was brought the same dishes, without a choice. For breakfast, scrambled eggs, vegetable salad, local sausage and cheese (most likely soy), delicious cheese, buns or flatbread, sweet pastries, honey or jam, tea, instant coffee, artificial juice. For dinner - soup, vegetable salad, hot (meat, chicken, fish, squid) with rice, potatoes or pasta, dessert (Egyptian sweets and / or fruits). Since we had half board, drinks were not included in dinner. We liked the food very much. The only negative was that there was no oil for the salad.
There is a small grocery store and pharmacy across the street from the hotel. You can go to the city by minibus, the stop is not far (the cost is 3 pounds).

Beach. During the season there will be a bus. We were driven by Mr. Assem, sometimes we did not disturb him and left on our own, we always returned on foot, just to take a walk. Walk 15-25 minutes, depending on the speed. The hotel gives cards for free entry to the beach. Towels are also provided free of charge. The beach is excellent, not very big, the right side of Sharks Bay. It is here that there is an excellent sandy entrance to the sea, you can walk in shallow water for those who cannot swim. To the right, relative to the sea, beautiful corals. When we were cold, the fish were not very many. Near the beach, you can take a boat with a glass bottom to see very beautiful corals, it takes about 10 minutes to get there by boat. As we were told, this is the first stop on an excursion to Tiran Island. Yachts also depart from the pier near the beach for boat trips.
On the first day, we were interested in a beautiful castle, standing near the road to the beach. It turned out to be a nightclub closed 7 years ago. Near the road, a Bedouin grandfather lives in a booth, he asks a little for permission to view. We made our way to the castle from the side of the beach, quietly took pictures and left.
We went on one excursion - Colored Canyon-Blue Hole-Dahab. I went on this tour 3 years ago. Now I liked the tour less. Firstly, the canyon is completely different, and they do not warn about it. Secondly, there was little time for snorkeling. Thirdly, now at the restaurant, where they changed clothes and ate, there is a paid toilet and shower (3 and 5 pounds, respectively). Equipment (suit and fins) cost $10. We had our own masks. And yet, alas, it was very cold, but this is no longer the fault of the travel agency.
On the last day, we had a photo session for the hotel website, because Russian tourists are very welcome here. In the evening, we warmly said goodbye to all the staff. Mr. Assem took us back to the night plane. We promised to return to the now beloved Hotel Mazar…
