"Gray" Moscow for these New Year's holidays did not add good spirits. No snow, no sun outside the window. Black and white landscapes had a depressing effect on me. "Why don't we go somewhere where at least there is sun. " I frantically began to look through the websites of travel agencies, marveling at the range of prices during the holidays. We decided to go to Egypt, it turned out to be the cheapest, and our son has not yet been there. And I really wanted to check whether it is possible to sunbathe and swim in Egypt in winter, because after reading weather reviews on the Internet, I did not fully understand whether it was cold there at that time or warm enough for a beach holiday. I didn’t manage to quickly buy a tour, even when the travel agency reserved my money on the card, then they called back and asked me to pay thirty percent of the cost of the tour, referring to the holiday hype, the rise in price of air tickets and some incomprehensible fees. I refused and kept looking.
We had a budget, which I quickly adjusted to take into account the holiday price increase, beyond which I was not going to go. At some moments of the search, I considered Vietnam and Thailand, and there were also offers, but according to the budget, we only went there in "three rubles" with breakfast. In Egypt, we could take a good "five" with all inclusive for this money. My choice fell on the hotel "Nubian Island". After reading a lot of reviews on Top hotels, watching a few videos on youtube, I discovered this thing: many who have been in this hotel come back there. Well, will a person come a second or third time to the same hotel, spend his money, if he was not satisfied with something? For me, this was the decisive factor to make a reservation in this hotel. And it turned out to be true. The hotel is very decent. Now in order:


Transfer. Flight Moscow-Cairo and by bus to Sharm El Sheikh. Oh, this is the saddest part of my story...
Unfortunately, direct flights from Russia to Sharm El Sheikh are currently unavailable. Perhaps in the near future everything will get better, but for now we had to spend a certain amount of time and patience to arrive at our destination and the most difficult and tiring test on the trip from Moscow to Sharm (by the way, the trip home from Sharm el-Sheikh was an order of magnitude harder We were on the road for 24 hours! , so the Russians think about it. Maybe it's better to wait until the charters are directly allowed) - it was a bus ride. There was information on the website of the travel agency that the transfer from Cairo airport to the hotel would take 5-5.5 hours. In real life, we traveled by bus for 8.5 hours. And the flight from Moscow was a regular Aeroflot flight and took a little over 4 hours.

The flight went perfectly, the bus was somehow endured, and now at 8-30 in the morning we go to the hotel. I did not ask anything, I just took out 20 dollars and asked us to settle in a normal room.
They put on bracelets and showed us where the dining room is. After breakfast we went to check in.

The room is normal, one might even say good. Comfortable large bed, good bed for my son. Acceptable plumbing. No fungi, mold, insects and other evil spirits were found in the room. Nothing is broken, all buttons and sockets work, doors open, etc. There is a TV on the wall, there are Russian and Ukrainian channels.

The territory of the hotel is large, everything is very well maintained. Every morning a team of gardeners waters and works with the plants. For lovers of flora and fauna, as well as fans of landscape design, there will be expanse. Many beautiful flowers and trees, an artificial river, bridges, pergolas. You can just walk around the hotel, getting great pleasure.

The hotel has 2 swimming pools: one large, near the buildings, no one swam in it with me, probably the water is cold.

Another, well, not a small one, near the beach. It was there that all the movement took place. (animation, games, exercises, music, etc. ) In the pool, the water was heated and I calmly swam in it when the weather was inclement.

Speaking of the weather and the opportunity to sunbathe in Egypt in January. So, out of the seven days we spent at the hotel - 5 days it was sunny, 2 days there were clouds, even a little bit of rain. All days it was quite windy, but I didn’t feel any discomfort from the wind, but my wife really didn’t like the wind. as I noticed, the warmest sun starts from 10 to 14 hours, and really, if it shines directly on you, it burns more or less (of course, it cannot be compared with the seasonal sun). If you take such sunbathing for about 10-12 days, then it is possible to tan normally, given that the skin is prepared. My wife is swarthy, she lay down a little and turned into a "chocolate". The average weather was probably 22 degrees in the sun.
The temperature dropped sharply by 15:00. At 16-00 it was already cool and I put on a sweatshirt. The water in the sea is the same somewhere around 21-22 degrees. For me, it's chilly. But in the pool with heated water luxury! I don't want to go out. And you go out, the wind will blow, it’s just fresh, sometimes you had to wrap yourself in a towel.

Service. Here is above all praise. Firstly, everyone speaks Russian, even the gardeners mumble something there. Everything is invigorating, and on smiles. I didn't really notice a single gloomy face. For every question I had, there was an answer right away. The safe in my room was broken, 5 minutes later they came and fixed it. Before leaving, it was necessary to print something on the printer, once or twice and you're done. Asked for something and got it right away. And in the dining room, where we had breakfast and lunch, the waiters almost danced (in a good way) at our table (do not forget about the tip). The plate is empty, oops - and it has already been removed.

I just turned away, and I already had a glass of wine poured. In short, for the entire period of rest at the hotel, we were in a great mood, and the bartenders, waiters, animators and other hotel workers did everything possible to make the rest look like a fairy tale. So I understand why tourists return to the hotel.

Nutrition. I would not say that there are a lot of pickles, but there is everything you need. And I love lunch and dinner. Meat, chicken, fish. There are a lot of things for healthy people - all sorts of broccoli and Brussels sprouts, boiled vegetables. Lots of greenery. Vegetables, fruits, pickles, soups - everything is there. Every day 2 kinds of soup. For 7 days soups were not repeated. There was even borscht, but this is certainly not the borscht that we love. I liked pasta with all sorts of gravies and sauces, some gravies were really very cool, I went for an additive, the meat is normal.

Well, I didn’t really understand the shrimp, there were several times, they gave out 3 pieces, somehow it’s not serious.
I took it once, well, there is nothing there, so I have to run 3 pieces every time, it’s somehow inconvenient. Breakfast was poor for me. Disgusting sausages and cheeses - brrr (. The taste of cheese somehow reminded me of the taste of our native cheapest - "sausage" cheese. But at breakfast there is expanse for lovers of sweets - waffles, pancakes with various sweet sauces: honey, chocolate creams. A whole stand of all kinds cakes. My son and wife tried everything and were very pleased.

Once we signed up for dinner at an Italian restaurant. Everything is entourage, of course, but I did not like the kitchen. I will say more, having touched one dish of haute Italian cuisine, I immediately put it aside. Some kind of fresh green dumplings made from semolina or something, in tomato paste. I nearly got turned over. The waiter looked at me, at my face, smiled and immediately took the plate away. Brought pizza. The pizza didn't make the same impression.
Some kind of kulebyaka with cheap sausage inside, filled with non-melted "sausage" cheese. But the tomato soup went with a bang. In general, we were satisfied)


Bars and drinks. This is the weak point here. I have no complaints about the bartenders, they made wonderful multi-colored cocktails, but the drinks themselves are of very low quality. I brought everything with me and enjoyed a normal whiskey. It is better not to drink their drinks at all. I took rum with cola, well, it's generally a hell of a drink, with a taste of technical alcohol. Gin and tonic - rubbish, I did not feel there any taste of gin or tonic. Bottled beer at the bar is very good. I also bought local beer Stella on the territory of the hotel, I was satisfied. But I do not recommend strong drinks.


Sea. Entrance only from the pier. And so everywhere meters a hundred strands continuous. You can only walk in corals. The beach is well maintained, plenty of sunbeds. We were not impressed with the sea on the beach, but we were not going to swim in the sea anyway, so we were not upset.
If we went during the season, I would be very upset.

Contingent. Probably 80 percent in the hotel Ukrainians. In some negative review, I read that in the morning, while charging, the animators shout "Glory to Ukraine! " And in response, vacationers chant "Glory to the Heroes! ". Brad full! Haven't heard anything like it.

There are shops on site where you can buy chips, beer, ice cream and cigarettes. There is also a large selection of souvenirs. If the choice seems small to you, then Sultan Bazaar is located across the road. There are a lot of things and friendly sellers. T-shirts, slippers and other junk can also be bought at the hotel. The quality is low. Once, when the weather was cloudy, we went to the Old Market. By taxi from the hotel 20-25 minutes. Pretty nice: a street in the center of which is a large beautiful mosque, surrounded by stalls and shops. There, by the way, we bought very tasty strawberries and mangoes.
We were very pleased with the rest. Despite the fact that it was not the season, we sunbathed, swam enough (albeit in the pool), in general, we had a very good time. A huge thank you to all the hotel staff!
