About Safaga itself: a typical Arab settlement with smelly streets, noisy residents and shabby houses, somehow it all resembles the Old City in Sharm El Sheikh. Distance from Hurghada about 60 km, about 40 minutes by car. Opposite the port of Safaga there is a gas station, and next to it there is something like a bus station, but it is not buses that stop there, but 7-seater cars that serve as our minibuses. For 3.5-5 Egyptian pounds you can get to the center of Hurghada (Dahar), and from there for another 0.5-1 to the tourist center. Minibuses run as they fill up, there are no problems, you just need to make it clear that you need not a taxi, but a seat.
Also from the center of Safaga there are regular buses for 5.5 Egyptian pounds to Hurghada. We didn't use them. In addition, on the highway opposite the Holiday Inn Safaga there is an intercity bus stop, a landmark - a booth, and not far - a blue table with fares.
Now actually about the hotel: I’ll make a reservation right away, with all the shortcomings and nit-picking about which it will be interesting for someone to learn, in general we really liked everything. As with any person, “liked or disliked” everything is very subjective, the main thing is that we knew what we wanted to get - and then we got it.

Sea and beach.
Of the benefits: sandy, clean, well-groomed beach. Helpful hotel staff at the sight of a person with a beach towel immediately run with mattresses. The entrance to the sea is soft sand along the entire beach at a distance of 10-30m, to a depth of 1-1.5 meters (it depends on whether the tide is low or high tide), at low tide the bottom looks like the surface of the Surprise waffle cake from childhood, such cool frozen waves, which are very pleasant to walk on, there is no turbidity, the water is crystal clear. Even at low tide, all sorts of mollusks crawl out onto the shallows, which are a pleasure to watch.
Corals - we saw one, at a distance of 70 meters from the shore at a depth of 5 meters, and there are fish, but not as gorgeous as in Sharm.
Minus and it is also a plus, its own berth for pleasure yachts.
The hotel has a "Ducks aqua centre", which organizes boat trips to coral reefs and islands, including lunch and equipment included. As of March 2006, a full day trip to 2 coral reefs + an island was 20% cheaper than just having lunch at the hotel. Impressions - the sea, a screech of delight! First they take us to one reef, we swim, dive, they are waiting for us while everyone is swimming. We emerge - they offer hot tea, now the beginning of the season, the sea is only 23 degrees, so seagulls are just right. Then the next - and there are already other corals, and fish too, well, as if you compare coniferous and tropical forests. And in conclusion they are taken to the island of Tobia.
It is small, sandy, you can walk around in 15 minutes, but there are a lot of sea animals around, we saw squid, crab and some other unidentified animal. Wonderful! ! The yacht is equipped with sunbeds and therefore bought up and burned up with a bang! I recommend.

In the "Ducks aqua centre" you can try both serving and diving, I wanted to try, but there were no Russian-speaking coaches, and it is difficult to communicate in English without having a specific vocabulary. But, probably for those who already know how, this is not a problem. Equipment and costumes are available for rent.

Food: we liked it, but, again, everything is subjective, and depending on what to compare. In terms of our previous Turkish-Egyptian experience (this is the 5th trip), this was one of the most successful options.

Breakfast: several types of fresh vegetables, yoghurts, with a dozen suggestions for pastries. Two stations where they bake pancakes and make scrambled eggs in front of you.
Meat products (sausage, sausages) are not particularly, but in Moscow we do not eat them.

Dinner. There are several restaurants on the territory, but the menu in them is somewhat monotonous and not cheap. We liked the food at the nearby Menaville Hotel better. Water and juice bought in neighboring shops. I would like to draw your attention to the fact that for the most part, not juices are sold, but juice-containing nectars, and if you want something full-fledged, then you need to ask for juices without added sugar and 100% natural, or even better, take freshly squeezed ones, their prices are quite humane.

Dinner: many variations on the theme of the bird: all sorts of rolls, stuffing, duck, chicken, turkey casseroles are very good. In addition, 2-3 meat and fish dishes and several side dishes. From time to time, seafood that is cooked right in front of your eyes. Of the fruits were oranges, dates, bananas. Several baking options.
On Fridays - oriental cuisine, we are not fans, but you can try it for a change.
Animation: present, in Russian, belly dancing, exercises and all that standard.

Territory: large, whole, blooming, well-groomed. Herons and local birds roam the lawns. Several playgrounds.
Rooms: 2- and 3-storey buildings, buildings 1 and 2 are positioned as overlooking the sea, but in reality they are overlooking the pool, and the sea is later, and not all rooms of these buildings can see it. The pool view is just as good. The rooms are big.

Vacationers: most Germans are either elderly or young water sports fans, a few Italians, a few French. Russians are almost invisible, although there are many in neighboring hotels.

Internet cafe: there is on the territory of the hotel and one more outside the territory.

Shopping: The hotel has a shopping gallery with a standard set of oils, papyri, jewelry, T-shirts, a mini market. The t-shirt and towel store has its own embroidery machine and they are ready to do custom embroidery.
Opposite the shopping center where we bought excursions. Be careful, ask to enter the excursion program in the ticket and do not forget to make a copy (take a picture). On a trip to Luxor, we ran into the problem that the temple of Hatshepsut, paid in advance (for the sake of it, we went, having read “Loneliness 12”), which we entered when paying for the ticket, somehow turned out to be unpaid between the agency and the operator, and only thanks to that that we had a copy of the tour with an indication of what is included, we got what we wanted.
They also like to change the program. For example, in the same Luxor, the Valley of the Queens costs 10 ye cheaper than the Valley of the Kings, and operators, taking advantage of the ignorance of tourists, sometimes abuse trust.

The overall impression of the hotel is good 4 *, everything is worthy, everything is there, but without pathos and excesses 5 *.
In conclusion about the local operator, it turned out to be REST TRAVEL, we were the only tourists of this operator both in the hotel and on the plane, there was a Russian-speaking guide, the car was only for the two of us, BUT for all the time the guide did not appear at the hotel even once, and slightly forgot, when we leave, it’s good that at the first meeting at the airport he left his mobile and we found it with the help of the hotel receptionist.
