Rested home for the May holidays of 2021 - 2 adults and 2 children 13 and 6 years.
The purpose of the trip was a weekly prelude to the summer - the sea, the sun, excursions and a minimum of work.
Operator - Coral Travel.
Soma Bay was chosen because it had not been in the region before - purely Hurghada and several times before Sharm.
Here they promised a beautiful beach - without low tide and with the opportunity to really swim not only in the pool.
Departure from Lviv in the afternoon.
Arrived at the hotel around 20:00 - 40 minutes drive from the airport.
They quickly gave the key to the room, took things away from the reception and went to dinner.
From the road the food seemed good - no frills like the choice of fish and seafood (in the yard was Sunday anyway).

Chicken in several interpretations, pasta, pastries, veal, salads with authentic dressings, french fries, fairly well-cooked vegetables, fruits (oranges, tangerines, bananas, apples) and standard drinks white wine (red is a little harder to make) and sweet water with gas and without.
It is not possible to take most of the food yourself - all are distributed by workers through glass - anti-epidemic requirements.
Hence the marching queues of guests who ruthlessly and without masks breathe into each other's heads.
Meanwhile, all the workers had enough masks, but not enough gloves - they take plates and glasses with their fingers to the middle.
The plates and glasses themselves are far from perfectly washed away, but many of them have not been seen.
Devices are packaged in packets with a napkin, the napkins themselves must be able to hunt separately.
The staff is quite slow - before Ramadan, the forces leave the orthodox Muslims fairly quickly, but as of 20:00 it was already possible to have a snack, as customs officers or border guards did at the airport.
After dinner, the driver of the electric car drove his suitcases to the room, for which he received a tip.
The number of rooms is shabby, but the size of the room is quite good - 35-40 meters somewhere like a superior with a small terrace on the ground floor near the garden.
The children were put down and went to the beach bar to dance - a pleasant atmosphere and cocktails came in quite easily - because in the dark you could not see the quality of washed glasses or gloves on the hands of bartenders.
What else can you want from the first night of vacation?
In the morning, the key card stopped working. Swapped for two new ones.
Beach towels - new, large and absorb moisture well.
The beach is beautiful. Caribbean-style umbrellas are large and normal aluminum sunbeds in sufficient quantities for 80% of the hotel.
There is almost always a lifeguard on the beach, the flag was green - despite the light wind.
It is nice to swim and it is possible to swim a few hundred meters along the buoys.
Children have a place to play. The bar with drinks and ice cream is nearby.

There is a volleyball court nearby (the hotel ball is made of rubber, the net is low and a little tired, and the thickness of the sand is small - you can beat your elbows and knees to blood).
In order not to write further in the diary format, I will follow the paragraphs.
Animation.
Yes, they try in the morning and in the evening, but it is somehow tight and tense.
Service
Room cleaning does not involve swans and crocodiles from towels, even for money. And it's a pity - the children are used to it.
Guest Relationship is a nice girl who tried to convey our remarks to the management and for a while something changed for the better. The hotel manager himself looked into the restaurant, supervised the work of the staff and seated the guests.
Hotel guides are lazy, arrogant and unfriendly descendants of at least "Pharaoh's chasers". And it doesn't matter that you take the most expensive tour from them and politely ask about the time of departure.
Restaurant.
The hotel is almost fully booked, and only the main restaurant is open - another one on the beach is closed for some reason, which provokes queues and a clear lack of distance between guests.
There are à la carte restaurants (Arabic and Italian). The first is interesting at least with fresh bread from the oven next to it and the serving of dishes, and the second is a disgrace. The Italians were not standing nearby. What pasta, what pizza, what tomatoes with mozzarella in a diner in Lviv will win in these 5 * in all respects.
Food.
Monotonous. Chicken, pasta and potatoes with veal are the norm. One time there was a dried turkey for dinner, and the next time there was quite a juicy duck. Sometimes quite interesting eggplants and sluggish watermelon once a week do not save the situation.
Of the fish - once grilled tuna, and yes - mostly cheap pangasius and something in between battered and fried. Once they tried to surprise with grilled seafood - a few squid rings were added to pieces of unknown fish and several types of cabbage for lunch + onions and peppers. For more boss decided not to bother.

Breakfast can save yogurt, cream cheese with vegetables and even porridge with jams, and eggs and omelets should be asked to fry.
I do not recommend local hard cheeses and sausages at all - even when compared to sausages in Ukraine and unknown composition of sausages.
Territory.
Big enough. The pools are clean. Not all bars are open. Especially - after the entertainment program at 9.30. You want to go have a drink and chat to the music, but there's nowhere to go. Literally.
Another hour in the only working bar near the reception disappears summer, vodka for cocktails and other small ingredients of a pleasant stay.
Ping pong tables, rackets and table football are shabby and broken, the lighting above them is bad in the evening.
There may be a glass or bottle lying around all day and no one will remove them. The tracks need to be repaired. The greens are quite juicy. Palm trees and grass are well-kept and attract many birds.
Beach.
Clean enough, but for some reason it is cleaned too late - 8-10 o'clock is not the best time for raking garbage in the wind - the sand flies on the guests.
Onsite shopping and spa.
You can bargain. The pharmacy is very expensive. It is best to go to Safaga - colorful and cheaper. In the hairdresser's I work quite diligently on hairstyles.
Guests.
In addition to Ukrainians, there are Serbs, Hungarians, Czechs, Poles, Belarusians and a few Russians and German-speaking families.
The airport shows planes flying from Switzerland, Poland, Belarus and other countries, which provide Egypt with an influx of funds from tourism.
Conclusion.
For a clean beach you can go, but the hotel does not pull for 5 stars. The service and food standards are 3 stars Spanish or Greek.
The kitchen requires a new chef from Europe. to be better than the working class with his desire for a snack on alcohol.
Coral seems to be worried about his reputation, but to pick up people on the flight at 4:00 am to take the road to Hurghada to the next store of soldiers and not to warn about the postponement of the flight for another 80 minutes - it's somehow not very fair.

In short - an interesting experience that is not very worth repeating. Looking not only for the beach (for kiting and windsurfing with diving), but also preferably a chain hotel with European owners. Or do not come to Ramadan. There are not enough Arabs - there is no one to try.
Wants - a few years ago on Ramadan were in Sharm in Amphoras hotels and it's like heaven and earth. Nubians in Sharm are also an order of magnitude higher. In short, everyone has the right choice.
