Rested in Intercontinental abu soma from 16.09. 09 to 27.09. 2009.3 adults and 2 children, via Teztour. The transfer did not raise any questions, although we drove an hour and a half to the hotel, 60 km away, checking into hotels according to plan, and not according to plan, but impromptu we had to carry other tourists, losing half an hour.
The weather in Hurghada (or rather, 60 km from it) - as for this time in Egypt - up to 35 during the day, about 25 at night. But there was always a wind, so the heat was absolutely not felt.
The hotel is positioned as a LUXURY class. All in marble, golden candelabra, Madonna Da Vinci on the wall at the entrance, next to the portrait of the founder of the hotel, bronze statues, stained glass windows on the ceiling. Particularly touching is the reproduction of the Mona Lisa, surrounded by the door of the concierge and the golden pharaoh. All walls are decorated with paintings. Boggato! ! The marble floor is especially good. Our children appreciated it, crawled, rolled. Plays piano in the evenings at the water bar in the lobby. By the way, your luggage at the entrance to the hotel will shine through, do not be surprised. We were informed that the hookah that we brought with us is not allowed to smoke in the room (but you can on the balcony !! )

The hotel consists of three buildings. The first main and 2 on the left and right side. We lived in the main building on the 2nd floor. The furniture is good, 2 large double beds. Kettle, tea, coffee. TV with three Russian channels (First, Russia, Vesti), individual air conditioning, works well (it turns off only if you open the door to the balcony, and if you leave the room with the key). Safe is free. The bath is large, marble, there is a hairdryer, a couple of terry bathrobes and other things (shampoo, soap....) we did not give any extra payments for the room, but upon arrival the hotel was half empty, and a week later they didn’t even give rooms for an extra charge (according to Russian vacationers) .
The owner of the hotel, apparently in some generation of a Jew, put scales in each room so that fellow vacationers on the Olya (All inclusive) would not get too carried away with food and drink !! ! The minibar is filled daily. The AI system in the room fridge includes only non-alcoholic drinks (juices, water, soda), everything else in the bar is for a fee. I would like to say separately that the AI system in the restaurant and bars includes only local beer and wine from alcohol. AND EVERYTHING!! ! Moreover, they start pouring only from the 12th day !! ! Those. from lunch. And on the last day, (PLEASE NOTE!!! ) the AI system stops working at 12. So you will not be able to drink after breakfast for free! ! Moreover, if you go to the sea in the morning and return to your room before 12, the mini-bar will already be closed, and your number will be blocked!!! ! They have such a fenka - to remind you that at 12 you need to vacate the room - at 11 in the morning the door to it is blocked. And with the electronic key, which you used to open the door to the room for the whole rest, you will not do anything. You need to go to the reception, ask to be unblocked. An extension for six hours or less costs 50 euros (about $70).
By the way, you can get to Hurghada only by a local taxi for…are you ready???... 80 !! ! Euro!!! ! No other way!! ! The shuttle bus was canceled last year!! ! Since the hotel is located in the desert, away from the highway and with security, there are practically no more options to go to Hurghada ! ! In the shopping center at the hotel, prices for all sorts of souvenir nonsense are 5-10 times higher than in Hurghada and even in duty free at the airport. So it’s better to use the time while waiting for a flight to buy souvenirs)))
None of the Arabs (of Caucasian blood) working in the shopping center wanted to take bread from their comrades, everyone shrugged and said that only a taxi could take you to Hurghada. It's just boring to sit in this LUX class hotel for two weeks!!!

At the beginning of the holiday, we heard 4 more couples from Russian speakers. Mostly European tourists. Various... most of all Germans. As they wrote, there are many with children, married couples and elderly vacationers. The waiters are more helpful with them. There are Filipina girls - more attentive than Arab waiters. Even the tips left on the first evening did not attract them to us. There are no bracelets in the hotel, however, all drinks are carried by the waiters, and at the end of the meal you call the room number and sign the bill. This is necessary for the reporting of the waiters themselves if on AI, and in writing the bill for the room, if on half board. More on this below. I would like to note that for several evenings they all dressed up thematically: now in a sombrero, now in skullcaps. The food was varied enough for me, although I expected more from the LUX class. A couple of times they gave squid in batter, always one type of breaded fish, grilled chicken (its different parts), of course, rice, pasta, vegetables. There were a lot of fruits! And dates every other day, figs once, bananas four times, apples, pears, melons, grapes every day)) For dinner, three types of ice cream and a lot of sweet pastries. I didn’t eat, I won’t say anything about sweets.
The children did not go hungry. For breakfast, decent bacon, sausages, scrambled eggs, porridge, for lunch and dinner, a children's table, but there are pureed vegetables, pasta and french fries. It’s not difficult for me, but when at the end of breakfast the waiters didn’t bring me tea. but she herself got up and went to take boiling water and bags from them. Children's chairs are nice enough.
By the way, check and do not put off going to the reception until the last day to pay for the bar!! ! With this problem (attributed a bunch of drinks, as if drunk) faced with us every third! ! Guide listened, sent to the reception to understand.
The views from the room are all over the sea and the beach. In more or less degree. However, the hotel staff every evening, when everyone goes to dinner, or early in the morning (at 6 o'clock), poison the mosquitoes with some kind of smoke from a strange unit... It is not poisonous, but it stinks a lot !!
Everything that was said about the AI system, copies of invoices, is true. Better, take it, then, as proof will be. For udin in one of the A la carte restaurants, you need to sign up a few days in advance with an English-speaking girl near the reception. We decided to go to Lebanese to try the local cuisine! ! HAAA! ! Do you think they will bring you Lebanese cuisine? ! Firstly, without options, only one type of salad, hot and dessert is served for free, and secondly, salad (I remind you - a Lebanese restaurant) is grated boiled beets, hot is the same fish with AI, only without batter, but with french fries!!! , and for dessert - "seasonal fruits" - (as they used to cut in railway buffets) too little pieces of apple, pear, peach and a grape twig ! ! Here you have dinner in a Lebanese restaurant!! ! No complaints, but they could at least not disgrace themselves.

the AI system can and does extend to AZUR BAR, and Wind Serf bar, Lobby bar. However, I did not see that the bar on the beach was open)))) AI does not apply to A LA CARTE and Joni's bar restaurants. There is also the main party in the evenings)))
The beach at the hotel is very good! There is sand everywhere, it's a paradise for children!!! …. The problem in taking sunbeds appeared with the arrival of a large number of our compatriots, and it began: taking sunbeds first from 6 in the morning, then in the evening. Beach-boys worked part-time: you can give every day and he goes with you and finds you a sunbed, or give you the whole rest in advance and every morning the sunbed is occupied for you. Since I ran in the morning, I had to take sunbeds after my run as well. Towels are free, they give and change without question. The pools are unheated, so sunbathers and swimmers appear around them only at lunchtime, when the water in them warms up. Although one pool near the fitness center is heated and, in my opinion, with sea water. But there, in general, there are very few sunbathers, I can’t explain why. Towels for this pool are taken from the fitness center. By the way, the gym is good. Although the Germans, for example, except on the treadmill were not engaged.
After Ramadan, a lot of Arab families came (husband, several wives and three or five children) It's colorful, I'll tell you! ! Especially when wives wrapped in black are sunbathing next to girls in bikinis)))
We smoked a hookah. . . good tobacco. . . it costs 8 dollars to score once. There is a large plasma in the hookah room...

Animation is standard-primitive. Gymnastics at 10, aqua aerobics at 11, beach volleyball at 12, then yoga at 15, volleyball and gymnastics again at 16. There is an excellent playground, a room, a small inflatable and daily filled with warm water children's pool and a trampoline!! ! The truth is you have to look at it yourself. The children's room has a large toy house, a kitchen, paint-pencils, cubes, a TV set with cartoons. Our 2 and 3 year old kids loved it!! ! Although, as they wrote, it is only open until 18 hours. From 20 to 23 (local time) a disco with a tape recorder for children near the pools. The soundproofing in the room is good. Loud music did not interfere (to me personally). I heard about the Cleopatra disco for young people, but as one of the animators said, she was the only one dancing. Although, with a large arrival of Russian vacationers, it will probably be fun there.
There is a camel and a donkey on the beach. They offered to ride daily... They smell accordingly.
The beach is very large, the hotel area is good, beautiful and well-groomed. If you stand facing the sea, then in 15 minutes of running along the coast there is another five-star - Caribian world. I liked it more, although its territory is smaller, and there are more buildings. It has slides and, most importantly, there is a shuttle bus to Hurghada for $8 per person!!!
Between the hotels there are security posts, wondering who-where-why....But the Russian inquisitive mind. And we were still in Hurghada!!
In the end, I can say that the hotel is not worth the money that is asked for visiting it. However, for a holiday with a child - for a baby doll - it's very good here !!! ! For parents, if only from morning to evening sleep, eat, walk, read and play sports. You know, for couples in their forties and fifties, this is a great place! ! Yes! ! And for surfers, no doubt.
If you don't mind drinking and dancing sometimes on vacation, then look for some other hotel! !
