Recently arrived from Holiday (were from 10/8/08 to 10/18/08). Before leaving, we read the reviews, many of which were unflattering, but treated them critically - and did not regret it.
Everything seems to depend on the mood and attitude. The service is just 4 *, but the main criterion for us was to take a break from everything and everyone that turned out 100%.
Without English, it’s really difficult there, and not everyone understands it, but you can explain yourself on your fingers.
Food - quite normal, you won't die of hunger: a lot of vegetables, herbs, fruits, mousses, sweets. They are especially good at eggplant (! ), squid, grilled liver, fish (all sorts), chickens (chakhokhbili - which is surprising in batter), omelettes, pancakes and zucchini. Soups - not ours : ) - mashed potatoes, but onion soup turned out to be delicious. They don’t know how to cook potatoes (except for french fries): they look appetizing, but they taste like a complete disappointment). But we didn't go there for food : ).
The animation is unobtrusive - three times they were told not to bother and they fell behind. From entertainment - during the day, sports (volleyball, aerobics, polo, darts, etc. ), in the evening - a children's disco, an animator show and a disco from 23.00.
For fun people, it will most likely be boring there, but we liked it: the sea, the sun, fish, mountains, nature, a gym and sports games - everything you need for a full-fledged active and relaxing holiday. : )
You can always find a company - Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Czech Republic, Poland - all of them : ).
Of the features (I would not like to call them minuses):
- drinking water in the room free of charge only the first 1.5 liters upon arrival. Then - 1.5 liters - $ 2.
- you can take a mask with you (in Taba or rent 5 $ / day or buy: 18-42 $), we bought for 18 and we were satisfied.
- coral slippers (without which it is difficult to go into the sea there), cost $ 10 - they were enough for just a week - everything rag is torn with active use: China.
- prices in stores with the loud name Shopping Arcade are naturally overpriced. You can order a taxi to Nuweiba (from $ 20), which will take you to this town, wait while you shop there and bring you back. Prices there are at least two times lower, and if you bargain for some souvenirs, four times lower. By the way, you can also buy water there - cheaper. Almost all sellers speak good Russian. Advice: bargain without hesitation, we have knocked down the offered prices by almost half.
- upon arrival at the hotel, they may be asked to wait until 12:00 pm in the lobby. We were warned about this at the travel agency, so we, having arrived at 8-00, calmly left our things with the administrator, changed in the toilet, had breakfast and went to the sea. When they returned, they gave the administrator $20 and asked for a good room, which they got right away - with a view of the sea, pools and mountains at the same time, without noisy neighbors.
- take a first aid kit with you: antihistamines, against intestinal disorders, fever, sore throat and runny nose - many endured acclimatization not very easily, as well as iodine and a band-aid.
- take discs and cassettes for cameras with you - you can't buy anything there.
- if your guides persistently do not show due attention and are arrogant : ) (hello to Pegasus in the face of Sukhrob), you can, of course, shake your license, but I think you should not spoil your mood - everyone will try to help: from bartenders to other guides (hello , Mustafa : ) ).
