We rested in Cala d'Or at the Sol Cala d'Or Apartamentos with my wife in June 2014, we found the hotel based on reviews. The hotel is a solid rubbish. Approximately one hour from Palma airport by bus. We were settled immediately, as the room was ready at 12-00, and they brought us in the evening. Our room was a standard double - a modest room with a steep staircase to the exit, a large double bed, an electric stove, a refrigerator, a toaster and an antediluvian TV. Here the first trouble awaited us - not a single Russian channel and the remote control was at the reception, and in order to "scratch" it, we had to pay 5 euros (deposit), which was returned upon check-out. But the lack of Russian channels affected - I had to watch the World Cup in Spanish))). Towels were changed in the room even more often than stated (1 time in 3 days), but the bed linen, which was supposed to be changed once a week, was not changed even once during our 10 days of stay. There is one nuance here - for a small tip to our friends from the same hotel, the maids were cleaned daily, but we did not stimulate the cleaners financially out of principle. At the reception there is a girl who speaks excellent Russian, her name is Diana, if you have any questions, we recommend contacting her. We had a view from the balcony to the courtyard of the hotel, where there is a small pool, where elderly Germans sunbathe from morning to evening, but you can find a place on the sunbeds by the pool (we didn’t lie - we went to the sea). About food (we took HB) - breakfasts are monotonous (eggs in all forms), while there were always fruits for breakfast (very tasty watermelons, melons), but there were no cereals. Dinners - in our opinion, very good, quite varied, there were always meat, fish, salads, vegetables, fruits, including local juicy oranges, peaches, etc. Periodically they gave seafood (mussels and shrimp in salads), Food enough quality - I have a sick stomach, but I have never experienced discomfort from nutrition. In general, the food is decent. Hotel location: 300 meters to the largest beach of Cala D, Or - Cala Gran, the beach is busy, but in June even at rush hour there was a place on the sand (it is more difficult with sunbeds - you need to borrow in advance, and they are paid). We read reviews that the water is dirty - I don’t know, in June it was almost always clean and clear in our country, except for one day when the sea was stormy. Minus - in June the water is cold, heated only in the evening, and even then it is uncomfortable to enter. We love to explore the surroundings and climbed with my wife all 7 bays - the beaches of Cala D, Or, the best beaches, in our opinion, are the aforementioned Cala Gran and also not far from the Cala Esmeralda hotel (a very beautiful bay). In general, they are satisfied with the rest, I liked Cala D, Or - an interesting architectural white style of houses, hotels, restaurants, picturesque bays with turquoise water and pine trees growing on stones. We played around the nearby resorts - Cala Mandia, Cala Millor, Portocolom, Port Cristo, Porto Petro - as an amateur, we didn’t like them, and tourists from these resorts, passing by the Cala D Or tour bus, licked their lips with envy, because Cala D , Or is much prettier than their resorts. In addition to the bays-beaches in Cala D, Or there is a bay - the yacht port of Cala Longa (a very beautiful place at sunset, we advise everyone). Without minuses, nowhere - in Cala D, Or, as well as everywhere else in Mallorca, there is a lot of garbage, which is associated with the natural unwillingness of the Spaniards and Mallorcans in particular to work and clean up. We also want to warn you - do not go with the Tour Operator Pegas Touristik, and if you go - do not take their excursions. I explain why. Pegasus in Mallorca acted very dishonorably. We took 3 tours of Mallorca from the hotel guide Pegas Touristik Maria Litvinenko. Pegasus postponed one of these excursions to another day, as there were no people on it. It was inconvenient for us to go on the proposed day and we demanded the money back, to which Ms. Litvinenko first stated that the money under the special offer (we bought 3 excursions in a package with a discount of 30 euros) was not returned, but after clarifying the relationship and after consulting with the authorities, she decided nevertheless, we will return the money, but oddly enough, not 100% for the excursion transferred by the PEGAS TOURISTIC INITIATIVE (we went on 2 other excursions safely), but in the amount of 75%, as in all cases of refusal of the excursion. At the same time, the guide stated that her superiors had so ordered. After that, I spat to argue, and having lost more than 50 euros through the fault of Pegasus, I continued my vacation, deciding that we and our friends, friends, would never go with Pegasus and we would tell everyone we could about this trick of theirs))). But that is not all. Pegasus is curbing exorbitant tour prices. For example, an excursion to Palma for 1 person at Pegasus costs 50 euros. The same excursion from the German tour operator Rolg (there are offices in Cala D. Or) costs 25 euros - exactly 2 times less, but without a Russian guide, but nonetheless. Excursion to Barcelona at Pegasus costs 220 euros per capita! But when people didn’t want to go with them, Litvinenko started calling tourists, including our friends from Moscow (who were resting at the same time in the same hotel) and offering Barca for 150 euros per person. By the way, Muscovites who rested with the tour operator Tuya for about the same excursions as we paid much less than we paid to Pegasus. In general, everyone's business, but in comparison with car rental or excursions from foreign tour operators, Pegasus clearly loses in terms of prices, and with the above attitude towards tourists. . . however, it's up to everyone. But these are nuances, we ourselves are to blame for contacting Pegasus, and we liked the rest in Cala D, Or, as well as the hotel - inexpensive and acceptable in terms of service. For those who have high demands on the level of service and food, this hotel, of course, will not work. Another tip for tourists - shops near the hotel increase prices for food, water, wine by 1.5 -4 times, so if you decide to stay in Cala D, Or, pay attention to the supermarkets "Yeroski" and "Suma" (the latter is not far from the hotel) , and many walked to Eroski - prices are significantly lower there and the assortment is large, including good local beer, shrimp, and fish. We do not recommend buying Mallorcan sausage "Sobrasada" in the store - the quality is disgusting, unlike the one that is produced on the estates. Try the sausage covered with a white coating (like flour) in Eroski - quite a decent sausage and a lot of types (we liked the Longinaza company, but again not for everyone. Thank you, have a nice holiday in the beautiful place of Cala d'Or.
