At the beginning of June, I booked a room at the Guest House Ugrin Paikka in Sippola, Finland, from July 4th to 6th. Immediately after booking this room, I contacted the owner of the guest house, Eduard Khakimov, by phone, informed about our reservation and warned that this trip would be special, timed to coincide with my husband's birthday.
On the evening of July 3rd, Eduard found out the time of our arrival at the hotel via SMS.
On July 4, we arrived at the indicated time and were unpleasantly surprised by what awaited us. Eduard said that he had run out of rooms indicated on the website (there were more profitable clients in terms of length of stay). We were offered a room under the roof. Judging by the stagnant, persistent and very unpleasant smell, no one has entered these rooms for a very long time. There was dust in the room and in the kitchen; bed and linen of terrible quality, clean, but old, as if from secondhand. The TV did not work, there was no tulle on the windows, there were old curtains that did not cover the window. I didn’t even check the condition of the kitchen appliances, everything was so old and stale. The owner agreed to my claim that the proposed housing does not correspond to the one stated on the website, is not displayed in the photo album of this guest house. But we could not check in to the room we booked due to the occupancy of the room. He offered to put us up with friends in a hostel, but even the toilet turned out to be shared on the floor. After that, Eduard personally, from his phone, called the Hotels. com support service to cancel our booking without penalty. After receiving a positive response from a Hotels. com employee about the cancellation of the reservation, he said that he could not help us with anything else.

As a result, at 19 pm we found ourselves in a foreign country without a place to stay. We tried to check into the Leikari Hotel, but while we were solving issues with canceling the reservation, we ran out of rooms at an affordable price. We had to return home at night, because in the month that had passed since the date of our booking, accommodation prices had increased, and it was already unrealistic for us to find decent accommodation from the phone late in the evening.
I ask you to publish this review in order to punish the owner of the hotel for such a bestial attitude towards his customers, for spoiling our rest and mood, for the moral damage caused to my husband, who, instead of celebrating his birthday, was forced to deal with the owner of the guest house, and then at night , without rest, return to St. Petersburg.
I would like to warn future customers of this guest house about possible troubles when booking and checking into this hotel.
