Stayed at this hotel for four nights at the end of 2014. Reservations were made independently, through the website of the Accor hotel chain. It should be noted that recently Accorhotels quite often pleases with its special offers and closed sales for members of their club loyalty program. The proposed price of £.60/night played a significant role in the realization of this essentially spontaneous trip to London. In London, it is now almost impossible to “catch” such offers, especially for a hotel with a service and location similar to the Ibis London Blackfriars.
At the time of our stay at the Ibis London Blackfriars hotel, it was still a two-star hotel, now it has been given an additional "star", and, it should be said, it is quite deserved.
The hotel is located in a modern building. On the ground floor there is a 24-hour reception, a beautiful, spacious lounge area with designer chairs. Unfortunately, I can’t say anything about the quality of the breakfasts that are served there, in the hall on the ground floor, and the food in the restaurant - we ate outside the hotel. But, for many, it may be interesting that breakfast is served from 04:00 to 12:00 (buffet - from 06:30 to 10:00). The restaurant is open until ten in the evening, the bar - until one in the morning - this can be very useful if you arrived in London late in the evening. The closest alternative to hotel food can only be sandwiches and salads from Tesco Express, which is located just opposite the Southwark subway exit (works from six in the morning until midnight).

The ability to check in online before arriving in London, which Accor provides at most of its hotels in the chain, turned check-in at the hotel into a mere formality - the whole process took no more than a minute. Check-out also did not cause any problems - they just left the electronic key at the reception. And in general, there were no complaints about the service for the entire period of stay at this hotel. The hotel staff is extremely attentive and helpful, always ready to help. In addition, the Ibis hotel chain has a cool "chip" called: "Commitment 15 minutes. " Its essence is that the hotel provides a solution to the problem and request of guests regarding breakfast, room, bar with snacks and drinks, etc. within 15 minutes, otherwise the hotel guarantees the guest free accommodation : ). I had a chance to check the efficiency of resolving issues by the hotel staff - we ordered an additional set of towels in the room - they brought them to us in five minutes. A trifle, but nice : )
A little about the room. The double room is spacious enough for London; comfortable and clean. Beautiful, comfortable bed (really - "Sweet Bed", as guaranteed by Ibis), snow-white linens, good soundproofing. In general, the hotel has all the conditions so that you can sleep after long walks around London! There is an air conditioner (I did not have a chance to evaluate its work in winter). The windows in the rooms open.
The room is very simple, minimalistic in design (for lovers of chic and empire style, this is definitely not the place), but it has everything you need - a TV, telephone, hairdryer, everything for making tea and coffee; ironing facilities are available upon request. There is also a small table where you can easily organize a work area for those who travel for business purposes. Free WiFi Internet is available in the room. Its speed is limited, but it is quite enough for checking mail and Internet surfing. The outlets are a little clunky, but can you live with that?
The bathroom is “plastic” and completely “sterile”, but nevertheless spacious; shower room is of normal size, plumbing is clean and new, good water pressure in the shower. Near the washbasin and in the shower there are identical tubes with a “universal” liquid, as it is written, intended for washing hands, body and head. I responsibly declare: “You can’t wash with“ this !! ! ” – therefore, do not forget to bring your own cleaning supplies.
All areas of the hotel are non-smoking, which for me personally (sorry, smokers! ) is a big plus.

The geographic location of the hotel is excellent: a couple of minutes walk from the tube station Southwark (Jubilee Line), within walking distance are also Waterloo station and Blackfriars station, where City Thameslink trains regularly arrive (in particular, it is very convenient for those who arrive in Luton-road it takes less than an hour to get to the hotel from the airport). Very close by is the famous street "The Cut", which, for sure, will be of interest to theatergoers - it houses the theaters "Old Vic" and its successor "Young Vic".
A few minutes walk from the hotel - and go to The Queen's walk promenade with attractions located along the "Father Thames" - from Westminster Bridge, past London Eye, County Hall, National Theater, Oxo Tower, Tate Modern, Shakespeare's Globe Theater to St. Paul's Cathedral via the "wobbly" Millennium Bridge. Nearby is London Bridge, the newly built "shard" - the Shard skyscraper, as well as the beautiful example of English Gothic Southwark Cathedral - I strongly advise you to go into it, especially during the service.
Well, the obligatory "highlight" of our London program for the umpteenth time is Borough Market, which is just opposite Southwark Cathedral. Here you can find street food for every taste, color and budget. Well, of course, for lovers, I can’t help but recommend oysters from Wright brothers - the best that I have ever tasted.
The hotel did not disappoint. Excellent value for money. A great budget place for both business travelers and all not too pretentious tourists who want to plunge into the extraordinary and unique atmosphere of London. I can safely recommend this hotel to everyone and I myself, without a share of a doubt, will choose it again during my next trips to London.
