Of course, it is impossible to embrace the immensity in 2 (even full) days. But we tried. They flew to Athens on their own (during a self-planned tour: Athens-Rome-Vatican-Cyprus), they themselves planned movements in all cities.

So, Athens. Of course, there were plans that did not work out (for example, to visit Spyros Louis, climb Lycabettus), but let's talk about what came true!

From the airport to the COSMOS hotel and vice versa: in front of the arrivals terminal at doors 3 and 4. Bus number X95 to Syntagma Square (5 Euro, final, around the clock), and then along the red metro line (1.4 Euro) to Metaxourgio station . OR on foot from Syntagma about 20 minutes (if there is little luggage during the day).

I took with me printed maps of the city districts indicating the sights - it’s convenient, you won’t get lost!

Day one.

  • The National Archaeological Museum of Athens is a 10-minute walk from COSMOS Hotel. We spent several hours in the museum. Ticket 7 Euro. We had a bite to eat in a cafe on the square in front of the museum.
  • Athenes free walking tour at 14:45 on the Panepistimio metro (on foot along the shopping streets for about 20 minutes, if you do not go shopping or zyring : )).
  • Free tours (in English or Greek) are a great way to get to know the city, learn a lot of important and interesting things, as well as learn the main sightseeing route, which you can develop on your own.

    The tour includes:

  • Syntagma
  • King's garden
  • Zappeion
  • Temple of Zeus
  • Hadrian's Arch
  • View of the Acropolis (The main temple of the goddess Athena - Parthenon. AGORA, Temple of Hephaestus)
  • Tower of the Winds, Erechthion, library ruins
  • After the tour, we climbed the Areopagus Hill, which offers a view of the Acropolis.
  • SECOND DAY:

9:45 Athenes free tour (meet at Hadrian's Arch).

We were lucky - it was Sunday, and at 11:00 we saw the solemn changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

  • Acropolis
  • Herodes Atticus Theatre
  • Theatre of Dionysos
  • Temple of Olympian Zeus
  • Hadrian's Arch
  • Panathinaiko Stadium
  • Roman Agora and Tower of the Winds
  • Plaka
  • Thiseo and Temple of Hephaistos
  • Ermou street (Mitropoleos Cathedral and Aghios Eleftherios Chapel)
  • Monastiraki
  • Syntagma Square and Tomb of Unknown Soldier
  • Incredibly informative, interesting and cool!

After the tour, we will have lunch and consolidate our knowledge - we will explore all the nearby streets.
