The younger one refused to eat a lot, so they switched to baby food, a kettle was immediately issued, although they said that you can ask the chef and he will cook. Our younger frame is a noisy and demanding child, and the restaurant was not comfortable for his behavior. But the attitude of the Greeks towards children was very pleasing. There were a lot of pensioners, few Russians and children, this turned out to be a huge plus, no taking up space from 7 in the morning, the pool is empty, whenever they come, a bunch of places. We rented a car for 5 days across the road from the hotel. We traveled a lot. A lot of impressions. Were very surprised by the attitude in the tip. No one waits or hints like in Turkey and Egypt. We left every day on the TV and at first we thought that it was not enough and added it, and then we asked at the reception, it turned out they have the right to take it only if they are put on the pillow. Although we had a safe, there was no need for it. The animation was in French, but that didn't bother me. On April 26, at the very beginning of the tourist season, we flew to Crete.
Greta Beach Hotel. The hotel is located in a small, fairly quiet place Ammoudara. Just a few km. from the capital of the island of Heraklion and 10-15 minutes drive from the airport.
That was also one of the main requirements for purchasing a tour. Despite the fact that the airport was not far away, we did not feel the noise of the aircraft. The air temperature at the time of our arrival was 20-22 degrees. What we were also pleased with, the child did not experience re-aclimatization. The water temperature during our two-week vacation was about 18-20 degrees. It rained for two days. But the most important thing during this period, the island is unusually beautiful!! ! Blooms every centimeter, every millimeter of the earth! Everything is fragrant with flowers, mountains, gardens!! ! It was also good, large territory of the hotel. Lots of greenery, huge palm trees. Which can save even from extreme heat. The hotel has a nice sandy beach, umbrellas, sunbeds and beach towels (in the room) all for free. The entry into the sea is smooth and not deep, which is also a big plus for families with children.
The only sandbank is a little ahead, where sea urchins live, and at the same time you have to be very careful. We did not swim there, so we did not need slippers for swimming. But if necessary, they are in all the shops that are located along the street not far from the hotel. A 15-minute walk from the hotel there is a large supermarket where you can buy all kinds of essentials for you and for the child (diapers, food, hygiene products). Baby food is presented only by Nestle and is not very diverse. Therefore, if your baby is picky, you will have to take it with you. The hotel has two bars and a restaurant. There is no separate children's menu. There is a small playground. The hotel operates on an all-inclusive basis. The menu is quite varied. Delicious pastries. There are highchairs for children.
If you plan to buy a tour to this hotel rooms: two two-story buildings are located farthest from the sea, bungalows are located throughout the garden and there is a building near the sea where the restaurant is located, it also has several rooms. We had a large family room, in one of the distant buildings on the ground floor (which, in principle, did not upset us much). The room has a shower, telephone. TV, hairdryer, mosquito repellent, refrigerator, air conditioning. Safe for a fee (3 ero day). The family room had a double bed, a single bed and a children's bed. Now, what someone might not like: the hotel is quite old, as I understand it, one of the first in Crete. Therefore, gloss and brilliance, of course, is not. Mini golf and tennis also distracted them for at least 2 hours. The hotel, in terms of its territory, rooms, food, corresponds to 4 * by all criteria, and I put 5 for rest in it. There is no pathos. BUT there is no holy, as they say, simplicity (which is worse than theft , as in the Crimea or Egypt).
Opposite the hotel there is a bus stop (we did not rent a car, little driving practice) 1.3 euros - and in Heraklion, or anywhere else in Crete, but more expensive if it is, for example, Chania or Rethymno. From Heraklion it is easy to get to Knossos palace . . and slowly, perhaps, joining a Russian-speaking group, listen to a guide... You can rent a car for every taste and color. shops... It seems to me that in the Ammoudara area, and even in Crete, it is impossible to have a bad rest.
A year has passed (we rested in May 2006), and I really want to return, look at the Christmas trees, in which the needles for some reason grow up : -) During the rest, my son became interested in counting convertibles, after 200 he got lost...
