I liked the hotel, fully justifies its three stars. It is run by a married couple with children, very pleasant and friendly people. The check-in went very quickly, we (two couples) were given rooms located nearby. The hotel itself is undergoing reconstruction, which is written on the information board, and the management asks to treat the "old" and "new" in the rooms with understanding. For example, the room itself is very rustic, and the furniture is not new. However, everything is in good condition. But the bathroom and shower room have already been updated, there were no complaints about them (with the exception of the size of a very compact shower room). It is worth noting that if there are a large number of guests in the hotel, there may not be enough hot water for everyone, as a result of which you will have to wash under cold in the morning and evening. During the day, the water is heated by a special system located on the roof, so there is always hot water at lunchtime. Additionally, the room is paid (prices per day I write from memory): safe at the reception (3 euros), refrigerator (3 euros), TV (5 euros), air conditioning (7 euros). In the room, by the way, there is a hairdryer, and in the lobby - free internet access via Wi-Fi. The doors to the balcony can be opened for plowing, so there should be no problems with ventilation, but do not forget to take a fumigator with you.
Full cleaning of the room, as well as change of linen and towels - every other day. On another day, they take out the garbage and can sweep up the little things. In general, there are no complaints.
We took two meals a day in the morning and in the evening. Breakfast is continental (cereal, yogurt, milk, cream, sausage, cheese, eggs, vegetables, fruits, honey, jam, tea, coffee) and does not shine with a special variety: there is something to eat, but after a week the monotony gets boring. But for dinner you will have to go to another hotel, but you should not be afraid: it is located just a minute walk towards the sea, and besides, 4. Here you can already roam to fame: several types of meat dishes, fish, various side dishes, baked vegetables, ordinary vegetables, salads, sweets, fruits... It is worth noting the chef who, in front of everyone every day, prepares specialties: meat, garnish and sauces. Also, I can't help but mention the great selection of ice cream and wonderful baklava. In general, you will definitely not stay hungry at night.

As we wrote earlier, the facade of the hotel looks at the main street of the city, but the windows of most rooms face the side and the noise of cars is almost inaudible. The building is located in the center of the city, which can be walked from one side to the other in about 30 minutes. To the largest market in the city (with the letters S. P. A. R. in the name), you need to go to the left side of it for about 20 minutes.
It’s a 3-5 minute walk to the sea across the road, but I don’t recommend swimming on the first beach that caught my eye and I advise you to move a little to the right - in front of this beach there is a cover of a no longer working bar, and this beach has become our main vacation spot. The well-known Star Beach in the city was not liked by its noisiness and focus on pumping money out of the youth. For lovers of the sandy coast, I recommend San Beach: it is, however, located a couple of kilometers east of the city of Malia, which, nevertheless, can be reached without a rented transport by bus and then, after walking a couple of kilometers on foot.
Rent a sun lounger on the beach - 3 euros, umbrella - 2 euros. However, on the left there is a small piece of unoccupied shore, where you can sit with your towels, etc. We did not come across sea urchins, although on the neighboring beach (which is opposite the hotel), one guy who swam in a mask counted four of them.
I do not advise you to order tours from a guide - there are about a dozen travel agencies in the city that will offer you prices almost twice as cheap. Example: a trip to the south of the island to the Libyan Sea with a guide - 60 euros, with a third-party company - 35 euros. Santorini island with a guide - 265 euros, with a company - 120 euros, etc.
You can rent transport everywhere - from a bicycle to an SUV. Prices for small cars start at an average of 30-40 euros. Gasoline in Crete is expensive 1.7-1.9 euros.
In general, I really liked the rest in Crete and specifically in this hotel, we already miss it and want to return : ).
