We rested at the Horizon beach hotel crete 4 * from July 28 to August 09.2018, 2 adults and a child 3 years old. Would we return to Crete again - YES! ! Not at this hotel. But first things first.
Bought a tour ticket. agency "Hot tours". Our flight was at 16:30. Fly from Minsk 3 hours. At the airport of Heraklion, I was met by a representative from the host Odeon. Everything is clear and polite. Our hotel was the last one, we drove for about an hour, we managed just in time for the end of dinner. We left the suitcases at the reception, paid a tax of 18 euros (which we were not warned about at the travel agency) and went to eat. After that we were taken to our room.
The biggest plus of this hotel, which has been written about more than once, is the views. Gorgeous view of the mountains and the town of Malia. The hotel is located at the entrance to the village of Stalis (Stalida). The room we got 610 is very small and far from the main building, where there was a restaurant. In the first minute there was a desire to go change, but in principle we were only going to sleep in it, and the furniture was in excellent condition, so we left it. There is air conditioning, TV, hair dryer in the bathroom. We had a view of the fence of the neighboring hotel, and all his active life in the evenings was audible to us. They cleaned every day, if you throw a towel on the floor, they will definitely change it, and for 1-2 euros they will also twist it into a bow. The bed was changed several times, even when my daughter put a small dot on the sheets with a felt-tip pen, she was changed. The quality of cleaning the floor is C grade, it can be seen with a wet rag, but the hair and debris remained in place. The dust on the phone, the closet has probably never been wiped off at all. Ants and some strange bugs were also running around. There are few mosquitoes, but at night they still put the fumigator brought with them. They left the phone and money in the room, jewelry on the table, they did not take the safe.

What we have not yet been warned about is the cicadas! At this time they have a mating season and the cicada boys make such a noise with the sunrise that on the first night I was very scared, thinking that this alarm had worked. Moreover, the hotter the sun, the louder they scream. But after a couple of days you get used to it and you don't notice it.
Meals at the hotel are all inclusive. Very tasty and varied. Breakfasts, as elsewhere - scrambled eggs or once a week scrambled eggs, fried sausages, beans, some very sweet porridge, potatoes, cheese and chopped sausage, various buns, there is a toaster - you can bake, vegetables, muesli, yogurts, in which you can add raisins, canned peaches, cherries, chocolate. They bake pancakes, donuts. Coffee, tea, juice. And every day it's the same, by the end of the holiday I could not look at the omelet. Lunch and dinner are varied. From the meat there were lamb, and rabbit, pork, chicken, and everything was soft and tasty, even the child ate. Fish, one time mussel risotto, kebab, pasta, lots of vegetables. Of the fruits for breakfast, orange and grapefruit, always watermelons, pears, apples. There are few sweets, these are either Greek sweets, or jelly, a cupcake. Ice cream for lunch and dinner. Beer, wine white, rose of very decent quality throughout the day. The waiters are smart, friendly, constantly flirting with my daughter, which she really liked. There are high chairs for babies.
Wi-fi at the reception is free, catches well.
The hotel has a lot of greenery, flowering trees, a pond. There is a playground, old, broken, but there.
In general, I think this hotel is not for families with small children. Our child was bored. There were no Russian-speaking children of our age, there was no one to play with, we had to entertain ourselves. Why not turn on children's songs at least in the evening, you don't need that animator, but I think many kids would dance with pleasure. It was possible to walk in the evening to Stalis, but it had to go for 15-20 minutes and the child who was tired during the day did not really want to, and there would be nothing for him to do there either. There was live music on Mondays. For lovers of active nightlife, one would have to go to Malia or Hersonissos.

I read in other reviews that some went to the nearby Nana beach hotel to the beach and discos. We were kicked out of there, and very rudely.
The hotel does not have a beach. This is another minus in our case. You can swim from the pantone at the hotel, who knows how or in the pool at the hotel. And my child and I went to the city beach of Stalis, it took about 20 minutes to walk, for 2 sunbeds and an umbrella we paid 5 euros. The beach is sandy. The air temperature was about +30, water +26-27, only on the first day the sea was calm, and then the waves, in the last couple of days they were not even allowed to swim. The sun is active, managed to burn out. And then the allergy started again, as if thousands of needles were piercing you. I took half a suitcase of medicines with me, but I would never have thought that I might have an allergy. I had to buy medicine, because. the pain was no longer bearable. Medicines in Greece are expensive. I gave 28 euros for my 2 tubes, but they helped, as they promised the next day. A friend had to buy vasoconstrictor drops for a child - 15 euros.
In general, everything is better to buy in supermarkets, water, fruits, everything is cheaper there than in shops along the waterfront.
A couple of times we went to the beach towards Hersonissos on Star beach. This is a free beach (sunbeds 10 euros) with swimming pools and children's slides, but go there along the road, about 20-25 minutes. You can get there by bus. On the way to Star beach there is an open-air museum "Lychnostatis".
By bus, we went to the aquarium on our own, quite interesting, there is a dinopark nearby. We visited two excursions - the Palace of Knossos and Mirabello, bought at the hotel, liked everything. We also wanted to rent a car, but for a day with full insurance it cost about 60 euros + expensive gasoline, and at the family council it was decided to go to the capital of Heraklion and spend this money on ourselves, in stores at that time, the benefit of discounts. I also advise you to visit the Kules fortress. ,

The return plane was at 22.00, until 12 noon you need to vacate the room, but no one kicks you out of the hotel, you can still dine and have lunch, pick up the bus at 19.00.
Crete is a wonderful island! ! Breathtaking views, clear turquoise sea. We have not seen much yet, so there is a reason to return, but not to this hotel.
