In early September 2014, we rested in sunny Hellas with my husband and 14-year-old daughter. We chose for a long time where to go, and on the advice of a travel agent, from whom we have been traveling for more than a year, we booked the Grand Platon. We chose it because we wanted not only a beach holiday, but also to see the sights. Each member of our family is enough for a couple of days of lying on the beach, and then we want to have an active holiday.
It takes about an hour and twenty minutes to get to the hotel from the airport. The nearest villages are located one and a half kilometers from the hotel each. We always walked, usually the road took about 20 minutes along the beach. Paralia Katerinis is more interesting than Olympic Beach, the infrastructure is more developed there, although there are good taverns both there and there. By the way, near the hotel itself, near the beach, there is a good fish tavern "Talassa".
We booked a room of the superior category, the agency said that they were renovated, and they are. There is a free safe at the reception. Hairdryer and iron can also be borrowed there. The minus for us was that there were no tea and coffee sets, but we did not hope. We took a small "camping" teapot with us, and bought cups there, they will just have souvenirs; ) Wi-fi is available throughout the hotel, but it was best to catch it in the lobby and on the first floor.

The hotel has a swimming pool, it is clean, but we preferred the sea. I must say right away that beach towels must be taken with you or you can buy in the villages, at least 6 euros have been seen. Sandy beach across the road. Sea urchins were not seen. The beach is equipped, there are showers, toilets, changing rooms, and bins... But the use is paid, 3 euros per day. Although when we took a car, we drove and stopped on many more or less secluded and picturesque beaches, and we liked it more)) We went on excursions to Meteora, Olympus, the archaeological park of Dion, Vergina - a museum on a hill where Philip II was buried, we went to Athens, it was impossible not to visit, since we had already reached the mainland))) My daughter was all surprised how the guides could remember so much, how many years you need to study!
Greece is very interesting, the vacation was memorable and now we are planning to visit another island (we were in Crete), we choose between Corfu and Rhodes. By the number of attractions, the islands certainly lose to the mainland, but the beauty of nature, we are sure, will not leave us indifferent!
