The hostess of the hotel is very gloomy and indifferent, she does not answer questions or always answers in the negative. Breakfasts are disgusting: terrible sausage, the cheapest cheese and nitrate tomatoes, draft coffee. Under the window, Mouzon bangs all night, I took earplugs - it doesn’t help. And under the window, car and motorcycle rentals, and they also love to drive at night. Basically a torture chamber. BUT there is one advantage, the beach is very close, you can walk right in a swimsuit.

Hotel for very unpretentious tourists. There is never anyone at the reception, from the staff there is only one girl with whom you can chat by calling SOS-number, or at breakfast when she washes the dishes. There is also an elderly woman (probably the hostess) who looks after everything, and in the evenings sits on a chair near the hotel and says "hello" to everyone, + a couple of cleaners who constantly forget to either put clean towels or sheets. … More ▾ Hotel for very unpretentious tourists. There is never anyone at the reception, from the staff there is only one girl with whom you can chat by calling SOS-number, or at breakfast when she washes the dishes. There is also an elderly woman (probably the hostess) who looks after everything, and in the evenings sits on a chair near the hotel and says "hello" to everyone, + a couple of cleaners who constantly forget to either put clean towels or sheets... But they clean regularly . The furniture and fixtures in the rooms are old. Either the shelf in the closet falls off, then the blinds on the balcony get stuck, then pallets fall out of the refrigerator (by the way, it’s almost impossible to put anything in it, because it’s full of shelves and pallets). In the shower, the curtain does not reach the floor, respectively, in the bathroom there is a constant flood. There is a bottle of liquid soap terribly green and very diluted and slimy, for washing it is better to take something of your own. The dishes in the kitchenette, according to the sensations, are not washed after the guests, everything is very sticky (a sponge for washing dishes is not included in the kitchenette). Audibility is good, especially in the bathroom, you can hear sighs and other sounds coming from the toilets of neighboring rooms. The TV works with varying success, some buttons on the remote control do not work, or even everything. Air conditioning is paid - 8 euros / day, in the summer it is impossible to be in the room without it. Check-in at the hotel (especially at night) is peculiar: notes are left at the reception with the names of the expected guests and the keys to the room (welcome! ), i. е. no one registers you and does not even monitor whether you have settled or not. Either the crisis hit them like that, or it's just a feature of this particular hotel... Air conditioning was not provided to us on the first night, although we paid for it in advance. The "call girl" whom we called in the night by SOS-number argued that she did not have such information, and now it is too late to resolve this issue, because the keys to the shield are locked. She looks like this all the time, as if she didn’t have time to wake up either from a hangover, or else she didn’t have time to wake up - her tongue is tangled, her legs too, her facial expression is absent and indifferent. Breakfast: so-so, but you can eat up - muesli, cheese, sausage, tomatoes, eggs (or sausages, however, sometimes there is neither one nor the other), cookies, muffins, bread, butter, jam, yogurt, tea, coffee and, perhaps everything. Yes, more fruits - rotten grapes (most often), sometimes figs and melons once, but they turned out to be wormy.
In general, of the advantages of this hotel, only a good location can be noted - right by the sea, which, if desired, can even be seen from the room. It is located in the very center of Faliraki on the bar-street, where all the cereal establishments and shops are concentrated. For active (very active) tourism, not designed to spend most of the time in the hotel, it will do.

So, if you are considering the 2* option, then you automatically agree that this will only be the place where your suitcase stays for the holidays and never ever your sleep...
Initially, they were going to go to Dimitrion 3 * and even bought a ticket for May 2011, but life makes adjustments, we had to postpone the trip until September and change the hotel, which, subsequently, we did not regret a bit. Dimitrion, by the way, is very close to Sofia 2*.
Sofia is located in the center of Hersonissos at 21 public transport stops (for those to whom this will tell something). For your information, at stop 20, there is a 2-storey Spar supermarket and for all buses passing by Hersonissos, this is Hersonissos Center, and at 24 the popular Star Beach. If you walk towards Star Beach along the main street, you will find a bunch of other grocery stores (and the price tags in them are often nicer than in Spar).
From the main street you need to climb 70 meters and here is the hotel in front of us. It is small, but quite cozy, there is no pool. They don't speak Russian at the reception. The rooms are small (we had room 207). There is no TV, hair dryer, refrigerator, which in my opinion was one of the two biggest disadvantages. with a BB power system, you still want to buy something that requires cold storage. But, we got out of the situation and took a little  . The 2nd minus for me was that the bed was one 2-seater (for someone it will be +). The room has only furniture: a bed, 2 chairs, something like a bench with a glass cover (what is it for ??? ), a built-in wardrobe with a bunch of hangers, 2 bedside tables and a huge mirror. The balcony is huge, on which there was a plastic round table and 2 chairs - in the evening there were gatherings with local wine and cheese  There is not enough space in the bathroom, but it will do, there are towels + soap. Plumbing in good condition.
Breakfasts at the hotel (from 7 to 9) are very meager: tea, coffee, milk, juice, bread, butter, jam, honey, ham and cheese (they are laid out on a dish as guests arrive at the rate of about 1.5 pieces per person  ) , tomatoes and cucumbers, fruits (more often grapes, once we caught a couple of slices of melon). ALL. Well, not to stretch the legs is enough.
In general, the hotel has a good impression. The location is VERY pleased, because. located in the quarter (you can sleep peacefully) from the central noisy street. On it there are shops with souvenirs and all sorts of food + eating places and, not least, public transport stops in both directions. Parallel to the main street, along the sea, there is another one - with bars, nightlife and restaurants. This is a separate topic, but I can only say that this is a paradise for nightlife lovers 
Climbing up the street from the hotel, you will reach the old villages: Koutoulofari, Piskopiano (we ate in one of the taverns of this village), Hersonissos (walk for 15-20 minutes at a normal pace). This is where you will see the true Crete and taste the REAL GREEK cuisine. Everything that we tried in the resort Hersonissos, to put it mildly, disappointed me. If anyone is interested in the details, please email me.
For those who cannot rent a car, I can say that using public transport is very easy: there are timetables and directions at the stops, in Heraklion at the station there are a lot of free booklets, maps, timetables for all directions. At the same station there is a room where you can buy boat tickets to Santorini. In September, we calmly bought for the dates we needed.
P. S. Yes, do not forget the fumigator and euro adapter.

The windows overlook the sea, which somewhat dampens the sound. Earplugs fix the problem completely : )
Located very close to the sea - across the road. To the bus stop for Rhodes - 50 m. If you go up the street and to the right (on the 2nd intersection, not in the city center) - 300 m to the bus stop on the main road.
