Hotel ratings by criteria:
Despite the fact that the hotel is outwardly purely Soviet-built, unlike all the other historical villa-hotels in Opatija, it was excellent inside. We booked both the hotel and the room on our own, through the hotel website, booked the 10th floor only after renovation, the Superior room with sea view. Because the rest of the numbers, where tourists are sent by tour companies, were soviet 3 *. We went into the room and were just blown away. A huge room, in which instead of a wall there are fully sliding doors and a huge balcony, behind which there is a solid sea, imagine the view from the 10th floor, nothing but the sea! You open the doors and you lie like on the seashore. The room is great, everything is there. There was even a coffee machine instead of a kettle, which we adapted for a kettle : -) We were the first tenants in it.
So, what is the advantage of this particular hotel compared to other hotels in Opatija? It is located a little away from the main street and the main beaches, it has its own small piece of the sea, where there is no one except vacationers in the hotel. On this little beach there are 10-15 sunbeds at most, which are occupied by grannies from Germany from 7 in the morning. Nothing, we got used to occupying them at 6:30 : -) we didn’t always have time, the grannies occupied them at 6 in the morning, and then the sunbeds were simply empty. but it's not scary, because you can safely take a sunbed near the pool and just go swimming in the sea. The sea is the exit from the platform, but you immediately went down the stairs and swim. the sea is simply gorgeous, after this sea the rest of the seas are no longer seas. So I didn’t like it on other beaches, it was full of people and somehow not so romantic and beautiful, I especially didn’t like the central beaches. Near the hotel there is a path along the sea, along which you can get through the center of Opatija right up to Lovran. super! Other hotels in Opatija are old villas, most of them with the same old rooms. I don't like that, here we had a modern chic deluxe room, air-conditioned and all. Still, historical rooms with parquet, old beds and no air conditioning -
it's for the big European fan. : -)

I advise you to take breakfast + dinner in advance (then it will be much more expensive to pay extra for dinner at the hotel) since this is a buffet and you can choose at least something for yourself, because the menu food in the hotel restaurants is tasteless ! ! it is better to go to the taverns of the city.
It will be difficult for children to find something to eat, because there are no cereals or soups for children, my child ate vermicelli all the time for lunch or pizza, which we don’t eat at home. in general, as such, there is no dietary and baby food in the hotel. for breakfast, the child had to chew breakfast cereals with milk every day.
the food at the hotel is more German oriented: all sorts of fried sausages, fried meat, all fried and champagne for breakfast. But you can choose something.
The food on the menu at lunch is purely Italian, rice and vermicelli are semi-cooked.
Opatija itself is just a magical city, I really want to return there. Of all the hotels in Opatija, I would return either here, or to the 4 Opatija Flowers Hotel, to the first villa from the sea, or to the Miramar Hotel, following the Ambassador, but it is much more expensive. We went there to eat at the restaurant for lunch - very tasty.
I advise everyone to Opatija, these Croatian Cannes, where you feel like in real Europe. Although the food was best in Egypt and Turkey.
