Therefore, this was not our first hotel in India during the rest and we had something to compare with.
Two points immediately attracted attention: a long search for a hotel in the complete absence of any identification marks outside and the blueness of the pool, which was visible from the reception.
The manager Aajya, who met us (I'm afraid to spell his name incorrectly, so I just copy from the piece of paper on which I asked him to write it down), a dense, short, constantly smiling young man, was immediately very happy that my wife and I speak English. As far as I understand, no one spoke Russian at the hotel.
The second thing that caught my eye: all the free rooms in the hotel are kept open during the day with the doors wide open. "Theft is not afraid" - flashed a thought.
Most of the hotel rooms are villas. There are not so many standard rooms, just a few. The hotel mainly works for local wealthy tourists. And it seems that he is not interested in advertising at all. The restaurant surprised us the most. These are four platforms on the mountain above the right side of the Vagator beach, which offer a gorgeous view of the entire beach. Moreover, on the lower platform, instead of tables and chairs, there are wonderful sunbeds with towels on which my wife and I lay all the time we allocated for the beach, going down to the ocean just to swim. At the same time, we went swimming on the neighboring Chapora beach (the hotel is almost on the border of the beaches). there the water is much cleaner (the sand is white, not dark volcanic as in Vagator).
So here's the restaurant. We did not see any of the "strangers" (not hotel guests) in the restaurant for 10 days. Given the amazing sunset view and the average food prices, we couldn't understand why they didn't invite tourists from the street. The idea appeared in the last days when the empty hotel was completely filled with local tourists of a very respectable appearance. They certainly would not like the crowds of people roaming around the hotel.
Having assessed everything through this prism, I can confidently say: the Casa Vagator hotel has all the conditions for a good rest. This is fully supported by the staff.
I would like to say a few words about the staff with gratitude. Great trained team. When the hotel suddenly filled up with local tourists, the breakfast restaurant brought in just as many new staff from other areas of work as was necessary in order not to create a crowd, but also so that orders did not have to wait long (the breakfast restaurant does not work on a buffet system, All food is cooked to order in front of you. At the same time, the cook is trying very hard and is always interested in whether you liked the food. Once we went to the fish market in the port of Chapora, called “jetty” there (not to be confused with the fish market in the same Chapora where resellers sit in the morning). The cook prepared the fish we brought from there, such as mullet and shrimp, so tasty that I specially went to the room and brought him a sealed bag of my favorite caramels with milk filling brought from home.
In this rainbow-colored picture, we unfortunately found two dark spots and a couple of strokes.
The first "dark spot" is discos in the neighboring bar "9". The roar began at 10 am on Sunday and ended at 12 am. It was difficult to call it music, because. an electric generator standing right under our window and turning on constantly and periodically (there are problems with power supply throughout Goa and therefore all hotels and even decent necks have autonomous power supply systems) made more pleasant sounds to the ear. At least he worked much quieter. I note that these happy days of fun in the bar are on Fridays and / or Sundays, but not regularly. We successfully survived 2 quiet Fridays. I also note that the same manager Aya I mentioned above (I understand that he is their elder because he repeatedly heard “my team” from him - with pride) offered to relocate us for the duration of this natural disaster to an empty room closer to the sea where the roar was not heard at least in the room so that we could get a good night's sleep. We refused. Then he called the manager who was on duty at night and said: “Here he is the senior here at night. If you change your mind at any time, just call the reception and you will be moved immediately. You don't have to move things. " We didn't move, but it was nice. And when we asked if they had laundry services (for 2 weeks, the light shorts that I wore everywhere without taking off got dirty), the same “night manager” took them from me in my room and returned them washed and ironed without even taking money for it offering wash something else (it is clear that I did not remain in debt, but still a pleasant trifle - the attitude towards hotel guests).
The second dark spot was the road to the beach. No, when they told me “you will go to the beach in the trash”, I did not take it literally. India is not clean. And the road to the beach from the previous hotel was also along the garbage dump. But it was ROAD! And here a path trodden through garbage heaps leads to the sea. And bypass - no way. If you want to go to the beach, trample on the garbage. Not much - 70-100 meters. True, the landfill did not smell. Therefore, we got used to her appearance in one or two days, and then I simply stopped paying attention to her.
If you don't want to trample on garbage, swim in the pool. By the way, the pool is formally open until 18:00, but if one of the hotel guests wants to swim, say, at 24:00 (our neighbor from London liked to swim at that time), then you will turn on the lighting in the pool and around and no one will say a bad word will say. We were told: "you can swim whenever you want, at any time. " The only inconvenience is that at night there will be no towels on the sunbeds by the pool, they are removed late in the evening, but I don’t know if it would occur to anyone to lie there at such a time. No one canceled mosquitoes.
Hatch. Over the pool grow coconut palms sprinkled with coconuts. Exotic, of course. But when, right after our arrival, such an exotic fell off the palm tree opposite our balcony and crashed into the roof of the generator with a wild roar, I remembered that 2 orders of magnitude more people die from falling coconuts on their heads per year in the world than from sharks. Apparently there have been no accidents yet.
Small stroke. Since the hotel works for local tourists, it does not have a scale for weighing luggage. It’s a very unpleasant little thing when you fly with a low-cost airline where you can have 20 kg of luggage for free, and your daughter asks: “I don’t need anything, just BRING FRUITS! ” Such a tiny flower. Well, the fruits - I went into the shop and already 10 kg... So, since this question was of vital interest to us, the same “senior” Aya promised that he would weigh our luggage on the scales that he found in some other hotel, but we need to go there ride in a car that will be free at lunchtime. In the afternoon, Aya was busy discussing work with some respectable lady (perhaps it was the owner of the hotel) and, naturally, he was not up to us. We packed as best we could and decided "we'll pay for the extra. " Imagine our surprise when at 21-00 in the shop next to the hotel, where the wife promised to visit the hostess for a week before leaving, Aya finds us and wildly apologizing for not being able to earlier offers to weigh the luggage. Strongly offers, because promised. I agree after persuasion. Overweight 8 kg. We throw something away, stuff something into hand luggage and pockets... But that's another story...
So, I can give the Casa Vagator the highest rating as well as its staff and wish prosperity.
I will gladly stay at this hotel again.
