Rested with my husband at the Perola Do Mar (Pearl by the Sea) North GOA, Candolim from October 19 to November 1.2014. We are prepared for the trip and know what to expect. We already rested in GOA in April and we know about the dirty streets and the rest, you won’t scare us with this - anyway, there are much more positive than negative in India.
Sheks on the beach have not yet worked in October, they are only rebuilding after the off-season, some rented sun loungers for 100 rupees. Opposite the central streets to the beach, a couple of sheks worked. There are more people and working cafes on Baga.
WIFI. THERE IS NO INTERNET IN THE HOTEL!! ! In cafes and restaurants along the street, they give you a password for free if you order food from them. We dined in several restaurants, they cook for a short time and are cozy with normal internet in Cafe Jazz, live music, I liked it more almost opposite the Floyd's Hut hotel, the prices are average, very tasty and the Internet is with good speed.
HOTEL - a small, one courtyard with a swimming pool and a cafe, along the perimeter of the entrances through the spiral staircases to the rooms. For 2 * it is quite good. The hotel is well located both to the sea and to supermarkets, there are 2 of them nearby, leaving the hotel on the right side. Dolphin 200 meters from the hotel and even further 200 meters supermarket Newton. Newton is bigger, it has everything and products and cosmetics, small electrical appliances. Pork sausages 500g = 160 rupees, peeled frozen shrimp 500g = 300 rupees, cookies from 5 rupees per pack, juice 1 liter = 95 rupees, electric kettles from 750 rupees, etc.
Compared to last season, everything has risen a little in price, Old Monk rum 160 rupees 750 ml.
ROOM - standard No. 401 on the 2nd floor is two-room, the view from the balcony is on the roadway, and the bathroom has a window to the pool-cafe to the yard. Everything in the room worked! Five sockets, air conditioning - cooled normally, even had to be turned off at night, there is a TV - there are no Russian channels, there is a ceiling fan in each of the rooms, the refrigerator looked very miserable, but it froze and cooled perfectly, a boler of 5 liters, it warmed up perfectly, there was always water, a bucket with a ladle is standard for India, there is no curtain in the bathroom, so the toilet was splashed with a shower, there was toilet paper and soap too. In another room, a small cabinet with 7 trempels is attached to the ceiling, a table, an ottoman and two armchairs, a bedside table with a mirror. The bed is a separate issue, I called it the "killer mattress" The mattress made of coconut coir is hard and has a small pillow, it was very uncomfortable to sleep, the whole body ached in the morning, on the fifth day they got used to it. Towels and bedding are not snow-white, but freshly laundered by the smell (we took our own). The light was often turned off for a short time, and once for half a day. At first, they were upset that the signals and barking of dogs, the mooing of cows could be heard from the road, but they quickly got used to it, especially since it was heard from 6 am to 12 am, and it was at night that everything calmed down. But from the yard sometimes drunken cries and songs were all night long, and mosquitoes flew through the window into the bathroom.
FOOD - breakfast included in the tour 100gr. the waiter brings juice and two toasts, and butter, jam, tea, coffee, hot and cold milk can be taken by yourself and again. We had dinner twice at the hotel restaurant, they cook delicious but sooo long, they said 20 minutes and in the end we had to wait more than an hour, they don’t fight mosquitoes at the hotel, they bite around the clock (in no Candolim restaurant we were bitten by mosquitoes). If you bought fresh fish or shrimp from the market, you can order to cook at the hotel, regardless of the quantity, the chef needs to pay 500 rupees.
BEACH - Candolim is different from Baga. Entering the sea, there are sand alluviums, sometimes higher or lower, as if by steps, and the sand on the shore from the storm is also mounds. We went to Baga there, like in spring, even sand and a smooth entrance to the sea, which cannot be said about Candolim beach. In Candolim, fewer locals bothered to take pictures and stare at the whites, fewer sellers bought an elephant. Here the Indians from under the silence filmed on our cameras. The Arabian Sea of the Indian Ocean in October was still very stormy and strongly tightened and carried away, it is very difficult, even impossible, to cope with the waves. My husband saved me, having lost his strength, he drank water and coped with the current. And half an hour after that, all the rescuers of the coast rescued the guy-athlete, they arrived on time.
WEATHER in OCTOBER - for 14 days there were showers for 4 days in a row, when it rained, the air temperature was +25, in sunny weather during the day +30, at night +26, the water in the sea is always +27 in the morning and +29 in the afternoon, for me it is PARADISE! !!
SHOPPING - home rum, spices, fruits, Ayurvedic pastes, creams, cashew nuts, Assam (Assam) and Nilgiri (Nilgiri) tea, (Chyawanprash) chyawanprash - to strengthen immunity, restore the protective functions of the body and is rightfully considered the elixir of life.
EXCURSIONS - this time we did not take. We ourselves went to Fort Aguada, a Portuguese fort built in 1612. We went and went by bus for 10 rupees per person to Baga, Calangute, to the fish and fruit market. Due to flooding in the jungle, some tours were still closed. Dudhsagar waterfall was opened in the last days of October. Sea excursions in such a storm are dangerous, 6 people swam with the locals, the boat capsized, 3 girls fell under the boat and could not swim out...
The TOUR was taken from TO Join Up, the air carrier Fly Dubai, the flight from Kyiv-Zhulyany to Dubai took 5 hours 50 minutes on the way, three hours re-registration for the Dubai-Dabolim flight and 3 hours 15 minutes flight. The road from home to the hotel took us a day and 1 hour - hard.
VISA - we issued upon arrival in GOA $ 60 per person - buying a ticket from a tour operator up to 15 days, in a group of at least 4 people, you need to submit lists 72 hours before departure. Then the visa to Goa will be stamped upon arrival, but the passport had to be handed over to the state migration service before the return flight home.
What can I say about the rest in a nutshell - I WANT TO GOA AGAIN !!! )))
I hope and believe that it will work! All tourists of positive emotions and wonderful impressions from trips!! !

The hotel is dirty, reminiscent of a slum, although at first glance it is very cozy. Rooms with old furniture, stains on the bed, the pool is dirty, practically a person in their right mind will not swim in it, although it is very deep (not provided for those who cannot swim). There are toads, ants in the rooms, big black rats run along the walls. . . In general, in the evenings when we ate near the pool, they discouraged us from any desire to eat. We lived in this hotel for 11 nights, the first days it was hard to get used to this strange life of the Indians, but then we did not notice (like everyone else probably) this. I will return to India, but not to this hotel, initially our vacation was not booked in this hotel) But for some reason we were placed in it???? ? Surprised by this country from the first minutes - even at the airport dump. This is their mentality of life, there will be no other way. We went to the south of Goa - Shiva, drove for about 5 hours, then the taxi driver brought us to Palolem, where we spent 1.5 days. The bungalow was much nicer than the hotel. The beach is beautiful, with shacks, fireworks at night, but it was not possible to enter the sea - strong waves. Therefore, for myself, I concluded that perhaps there is no more comfortable than our candolim. It is very close to the hotel, other beaches are not very inspiring. Exotic, palm trees and all this is wonderful, but the Arabian Sea is not very calm and I would not recommend a holiday with children. Prices are inflated by 5 times, we were not lucky with fruits, they were bought a little expensive, but the Indians categorically refused to reduce prices for them: 1 watermelon 100 rupees. , 1 pineapple 100 rupees. , mango 50 rupees, coconut 40-30 rupees. Watermelons and melons are just awesome!!! ! Indian massage also did not inspire, they do literally 30 minutes and that's it. It costs 500 rupees. We went on elephants for 800 rubles. for four + 600 rubles. ride on an elephant. It seemed very little driving literally 3-4 minutes. . . I went with friends, so we did not get bored, and the climate is just wonderful. You practically don’t feel the sun, the humidity, and the tan is just super. Here I am sitting at work now (we have 36 degrees of cold now and I remember warm days that we will never forget !!! ! But if you go to India, then be prepared that the country is different there and we are different for them.

The hotel is divided into several buildings, our windows overlooked the main street, the music plays very loudly until 12 at night, then everything subsides. I personally did not see any living creatures in the room. The room has: air conditioning, TV (which we turned on 1 time), refrigerator, table, chairs.... The beach is 10 min. from hotel. Food - the hotel has a fairly varied menu, all Pts. delicious (I can mention squid in garlic sauce 100-120 rupees (60 rubles)). In general, visited many cafes, and everywhere only pleasant impressions. I strongly advise you to go to the waterfalls, spice plantation, ride elephants. It is better to buy an excursion on the beach, $ 20 cheaper than from a tour operator, or order a taxi and get there yourself, it will turn out even cheaper. Be sure to visit the hippie night bazaar, there are 2 of them, you need the one that is located at the BOAR club (emphasis on 2 letter A) was especially impressive, it works on Saturdays. Another bazaar in Anjuna, it is open every day on Wednesdays from 9 to 17, there is a beach nearby, you can swim and sunbathe.....We bought a whole bunch of Himalay cosmetics, just delighted, regretted that this was not enough. In general, everything is ok. liked.

Let's go back to the hotel. Breakfast starts from 7.30 to 10.30. Toast, butter, fruit jam, coffee, tea, juices are served. Lunch and dinner can be ordered for an additional fee, about $6. In principle, we ate in different cafes, the prices are about the same. all dishes are very spicy, before ordering it is necessary to warn the waiter no spice! Everything works in the rooms, cleaning is done on request! The staff is polite, but they don't speak Russian! In general, I liked it very much
perfect value for money! Have a good rest!

On the Kondolim beach, we had the pleasure of sunbathing and eating in the "Oasis" sheke, where the staff communicates in Russian, the food is varied and tasty: we highly recommend trying squid in garlic sauce and fish in garlic sauce. Dear vacationers!! ! beware of buying excursions on the street from the company "John * s Boat Tours" with a Russian guide Sofia and her husband Sunil. We went on an excursion to Karnataka, Mundeshwar and Om Beach in three couples, our age is average 50 years old, the guide Sophia was completely unprepared for work, when she was pointed out to this, she insulted everyone with foul language. Be careful !! !

I want to warn you right away - those who need the azure sea, white sand and coconut palms should not go to Goa !! ! Because we found a beach with coconut palms and white sand only in the south of Goa - it is 100 km from Calangute. And there is no azure sea at all. For two weeks, we did not wait for the calm. The water is always muddy, light brown in color.
As for the beaches of Calangute-Kondolim and other nearby ones, this is our Anapa. Only in Anapa it will be cleaner, and local merchants on the beach will not get it. Don't expect comfort. There are no sidewalks, there are no trash cans - garbage is everywhere, these are not the licked streets of the resorts of Turkey and Egypt!
Those who go to look at a beautiful picture need to be prepared that they will have to spend money on a taxi or rent a scooter and leave Calangute (hotel) to the south. Basically, there are beautiful places. I warn you - if you have little experience in driving a scooter, you better not sit down, the traffic there is lava-sided and reckless, there are no rules, the streets are very narrow. accidents every day.
We traveled the entire state from north to south, we really liked the beaches of Colva and Palolem (although there are a lot of people on the latter) - there is already something closer to the Bounty.
Be careful on the beach - in the first days they will open your chakras, get stones from your ears - a local scam. Pretend you don't understand anything and chase them away.
The best thing about Goa is the food!!!
The cafes are very cheap, you can eat seafood, local dishes with spices, try a lot of cocktails.
I advise the restaurant at the hotel - there is always a good atmosphere, tasty and inexpensive food, very friendly service.
We also really liked the Little Italy cafe on Arambol beach (it's in the north), everything is delicious and inexpensive.
I posted a photo of our trip on the Internet. Who cares, see foto. mail. ru/mail/kilen85/TRIPGOA/
In any case, a lot of impressions! didn't regret anything.
Good luck everyone!! !
