Through these "Roman Gates". . .

Roman Gate, Florence

. . . we'll be leaving Florence soon. While I go to the parking lot for the car.

A tow truck is always at your service, and you don't need to call

It's not hard to guess the purpose of these containers:

"Trash" in Italian

But I want to say more: in little Vallecchia, the villages of Cinque Terre, Florence and everywhere I have visited in Italy, war has been declared on garbage and human waste. Organic waste is separate, plastic (the enemy of all living things) is mercilessly separated and disposed of or converted into other forms, they also come with paper and glass waste. It happens continuously, without the slightest delay,

without allowing waste to spoil a millimeter of the environment. On the roadsides, recreation areas, sidewalks of cities, they do not litter, well, almost. The number of tourists in some places is sometimes several times higher than the number of locals - there are often cigarette butts and napkins, these costs are paid by the tourists themselves, and city services clean up. They began to pay attention to this after San Gimignano, when near the gelateria a lady threw a cigarette butt at her feet, and the pavement was strewn with napkins, although there were three bins within a radius of ten meters.

Even in Venice, where there is no sewerage in our usual sense, human waste and garbage have not been noticed, although there was no time to look closely at this. Yes, the brilliant architects of Venice were also brilliant engineers who managed to remove sewage from houses without pipelines, so effectively that there is almost no smell.

Until quite recently, there was no running water in Venice, it was also not possible to get water from underground, but the Venetians and guests of the city did not feel thirsty.

When I arrived at the parking lot, I did not find a single person. I opened the gate (they gave me two keys), got in, started the car and drove up to the gate, opened it with the second key, drove out of the parking lot, the gate closed by itself, returned inside, left the keys in the agreed place, went out through the left open gate. I got into the car, drove up to my wife, who was waiting with things at the hotel. Everything is simple.

Milan can be reached in three hours with a little. . .

. . . but the section of the road Florence - Bologna is being repaired - we lost about an hour.

"Crazy" speed on the toll road

To Milan

Railway platform near Bologna

We left the toll road behind Bologna. . .

. . . and little by little by 17 o'clock we arrived in Milan, at the Zara Milano hotel. . .

. . . where we will spend two nights. The price is 65 euros/night plus 15 euros for parking/day. Underground parking under the hotel, a three-story hotel with an elevator, breakfasts are included and they are very, very good. The main thing is that the hotel is located away from the center - what I always choose, more precisely - in the ninth district of Milan Porta Nuovo in the Abbadesse quarter.

There is a metro station, tram stops nearby. . .

Silent tram

. . . we don't need it, twenty minutes walk to the house on the street. Glitch, 14. . .

Adriano Celentano was born in this house on January 6.1938

. . . where there was not enough time to get,

the main office of the firm "Zara". . .

ZARA head office

. . . we don't need it either.

We settled in - cleanliness (cleaning every day), all prichandals are available (shampoo, hairdryer, kettle, etc. ), friendly and attentive staff, a Chinese employee grabbed all the bags at the same time and delivered them to the room, received 5 euros.

We washed off the road dust, put on the best (the capital of fashion, after all) and walked along the streets of Isola, Abbadezze, La Fontana. We were not advised to move north and northwest of these quarters, and we didn’t even have time.

At 19-30 catering points opened, and I ordered this. . .

"Risotto"

. . . Milanese risotto with saffron, which is more expensive than gold - 7 euros. Again, he noted the skill of the Italians, it doesn’t work like that at home, and even in Kyiv I only met him remotely in appearance.

In the dark,

getting lost in unfamiliar streets, managed to find a hotel by 22 o'clock. There are a lot of young people on these streets, especially girls of all kinds...

I am immediately sending the next story, where both the photo and the words with letters are more interesting (I think so).
