We have already been in this hotel in October 2010. Since the impressions were the best, there was no doubt in choosing the hotel.
As for the service fee: no matter how you are served, it doesn’t matter if you are satisfied or not, but 10% is taken from you anyway. Nothing to be greedy! You can pay a couple thousand, so you can pay a couple hundred more.
Moved in September 8th. The room is "superior superior". It's in the main building.
We knew what the number looked like, and that's what it looked like. But this is where our acquaintance with the changes that have taken place this year began.
Shampoo, body gel, lotion - everything that was with Dead Sea minerals last year has now become ordinary multi-colored chemistry, which I did not want to use at all. We went down to the reception, but they told us that they NEVER had other cosmetics...

Feeling like complete downs, we went to the nearest store (this pleasure costs 30 dinars) to buy everything you need, since we didn’t take anything from the wash and lotion with us, relying on the hotel. You can buy in the only shop on the territory, but there, to put it mildly, there is a limited choice with full price dictates.
We decided that this was not a reason to spoil our mood, moreover, we planned to buy Dead Sea cosmetics home, so we were going to go anyway. By the way, the driver will take you to the store with "the best cosmetics. " We visited as many as 3 of those best during our vacation. But one coincided with what we bought last year and what we liked, so we are satisfied. Naturally, later, in communication with vacationers at the hotel for more than a year, they found out that last year and earlier, indeed, all the cosmetics were decent, so at the reception they simply told us a lie. It's probably not easy to explain to hotel guests why things got worse. It's easier to be genuinely surprised.
They also saved on a washcloth, comb, toothpaste and brush.
Cleaning in the rooms is excellent, but sea salt, with which it is convenient to make baths for nails, or take it with you as a gift (advertising of the hotel after all), is given only after the call. They bring it quickly, but they never put it themselves. Looks like this is the setup. For savings.
Nutrition.
Breakfast is worse than last year. This is not just our opinion. Less varied. Less tasty.
This does not apply to pastries, sweets, juices. Everything is great here.
Dinner.
The restaurant Ashur - not very pizza, but very tasty lamb. The fish is terrible. We do not recommend. I'm talking about taste. Get poisoned, don't get poisoned. And by the way, in this restaurant you will share all the food with flies. Or fight them off. No action is taken to protect guests from flies.
The restaurant Kodes - Thai cuisine. Delicious meat, soup. I recommend.

Went once for a buffet dinner. You know that usually, this is a terrible overeating, and then you reproach yourself for such volumes of food consumed... Not this time. I did not want to try half, but what they tried was not repeated. We left happy that we got up from the table long before feeling full. If anyone has been, he remembers this gorgeous lamb leg, which was impossible not to overeat... We tried and did not finish it. Looks like the chef has changed. . .
At breakfast, in the Obelisk restaurant, if you are located on the street, then pigeons and sparrows constantly walk on the tables, on food. Of course, this unity with nature is touching, but when you step back and see that a dove is trampling on your plate, that is, you don’t feel like it along with the feathered one.
Both in the rooms and on the street there are announcements that you can only eat hotel food. Either they are afraid that they will not get poisoned, or that we will not go to restaurants. But still, there is nowhere to get non-hotel food, so I don’t know why they are so fussy.
The hotel area has not changed. If you walk, then either along the stairs, or along the asphalt-concrete street-corridor leading to the SPA or to go to the main entrance. They didn't walk. Fact.
Expanse for smokers. You can smoke on outdoor tables in restaurants everywhere. And on the beach too. Too bad we're not smokers. . .
SPA.
Why this SPA is so wonderful, I do not understand. The steam room is plastic, although the sauna is wooden, however, with huge gaps in the door.
Massage pleasure is not cheap. Head massage 1 hour - 60 dinars, legs 1 hour - 75 dinars, body 1.5 hours - 135 dinars. I almost forgot, plus 10% service and 8% tax on top. And 135 turn into 160 dinars. And this is multiplied by 1.45 and we get 232 dollars. For 1.5 hours is not cheap. But lymphatic drainage massage called Meridian expels water from the body remarkably. You can't argue here. Great!
Travel from the hotel.
At the counter, you order a car anywhere. But somewhat more expensive than in nearby Movenpick. There they have a HERZ counter at the reception and next to it is a price list in English and Russian for trips to all popular places. A simple comparison showed that a trip from the hotel to the King Hussein bridge costs 35 dinars, and 50 dinars in Kempinski.

By the way, they have their own arrangement, and you can be taken to the Movenpick reception in a Kempinski electric car. And Movenpick will also take you back. The area of Movenpick is very different from Kempinski. Everything is organized there so that you can walk along the paved paths without steps, with gentle descents and ascents, framed by greenery. And in the center, a wonderful street cafe and shops. We looked at the rooms, everything is very decent, by the way, the Dead Sea cosmetics in the rooms... But, they say that in Kempinski the service is still better.
Beach and Dead Sea.
There are a lot of changes here.
Beach.
The steps on the beach to the sea were made a long time ago. Somewhere they collapsed, somewhere they were erased and became sloping. There are no handrails. An elderly woman with a stick each time spent more time getting up and down than she did bathing.
The entrance to the sea is rocky, and last year those who wished were given slippers so as not to injure their feet. Slippers have been cancelled. Now they are gone.
In the place where everyone is smeared with mud, a tap has been made; so you can wash your hands. The crane is occupied by service personnel for technical needs. A hose is put on and twisted with wire.
Clean only next to the stairs, everything else has not been cleaned for a long time. Reinforcement sticking out of the water right on the beach.
The Dead Sea.
Just don't laugh. The density of the sea has become lower. Last year, the only bathing position was reclining-semi-sitting on the back. When water got into my eye, I was taken ashore because it was impossible to blink.
Everyone is swimming this year. Even rabbit. And the breaststroke, and how the floats all hang out. Well, it wasn't like that before. Immediately in the water it turned over on its back, as soon as you make a careless movement... And all vacationers have been celebrating this for years. As one man said: "Before, the water was like jelly, but now it's just very salty. " With us, a woman went under the water with her head. Here, I think, now we'll drag it to the shore. And she rubbed her eyes with her fists, and nothing, she swam further...
I will look for an answer on the Internet, and maybe someone will conduct more serious research on changes in density.
Plums are brought into the water of the Dead Sea on the territory of the hotel's beach, and some more water is pouring from unfinished buildings, from a neighboring hotel. Attaching photo.

Since there are many Russians on the beach, we were immediately told that a very characteristic smell periodically spreads over the surface of the sea. And also comes something that outwardly very much resembles the well-known organic matter in suspension. But the first three days we did not observe this. On the fourth day they were convinced. Truth. I don't know what it is, but it stinks just like d-mo.
This turned out to be beyond my strength, and I asked for a meeting with the general manager of the hotel. There is none, as they said. And a gentleman in a shining suit came to me, to whom I told everything. Then he asked him to come to the beach, where, apparently, he had never been, or had been for a very, very long time.
They came and asked about slippers,
he was surprised, says, and you asked? Must be!
They asked about the mud on the beach, barrels and rebar in the water.
He was surprised, he says, now I’ll call the beach manager, we’ll put things in order.
They asked about the water flowing into the sea.
Not surprised. Says it's okay. He says that we have a program in our country to save the Dead Sea, so all the water from the mountains is now taken out through such pipes and drained.
I ask, why foam, like from shampoo?
Normally, he says, the water is natural. And that there are a lot of flies nearby, so there are a lot of them everywhere. And thickets of grass and bushes, because they just grow.
(our Jordanian guide later laughed to tears when we told her about this program and the merging pipes. But she promised, for her part, to inform the Tourist Board).
They asked why the water in the sea is dirty and stinks?
Normally, he says, it comes from the mountains. AND IN GENERAL, WE DO NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE STATE OF THE SEA! THE SEA IS THE SEA! That is, I ask you, do you have a person or service that would monitor the state of the sea and warn hotel guests that it is impossible to swim now? Even if it’s not your fault, and something incomprehensible is thrown from the Palestinian side (and this version was also heard), or something is thrown off by other hotels, but we didn’t come here to sleep at Kempinski, but to get some air and get medical treatment in the sea !
No, he says. Why follow? This is the sea and nothing will happen to him. You can always swim here. Even, he says, your President bathed.
I answer that I also swam when it didn’t stink and didn’t swim...

In general, no apologies, no understanding. But the fact is that he publicly announced that no one is monitoring the state of the sea in Kempinski. I hope it's not. He just doesn't know, just as he didn't know much else.
Nevertheless, the next day, in the morning, a brigade came out, which cut off all the greenery where hordes of flies lived, pulled barrels and fittings from the sea, cleaned the beach, a lifeguard appeared in uniform and whistled. The whistle forbids swimming behind the buoys. Now you are lying, resting, and suddenly, with a whistle in your ears, once! We were already leaving, so I didn’t have time to say about the whistle, but I hope that someone will say that this is not a sports ground, but a beach where everyone relaxes. (Movenpick has no buoys, but 2 lifeguards on the beach). And the beach boys, Kempinski, for whom the main goal was to spin the Russians for a mud massage for 20 dinars, began to approach the edge of the beach and look at something.
I am surprised by the position of the hotel regarding flies. Like they are and everything. Everyone has been to mosquito-ridden countries, and there they successfully fight mosquitoes, that is, they do everything for vacationers. And here everything is simple: flies are included in the paid rest.
Funny and sad case. The neighbors on the beach complained to us that for the third day they did not clean the room and did not change the towels. We are in shock: this cannot be! It's Kempinski! We go to the reception and ask how this can be? Taking into account the fact that their number is not cheap either, on the 2nd line.
We answer: maybe! And this often happens with tourists from Russia. Because they accidentally or on purpose press the "do not disturb" button and forget to turn it off. The staff doesn't come. And, proudly, he says that we have a record of all such clicks in the system, and if claims are made against us, we can always prove that the guest himself is to blame!

This is fine? That is, you can only extort money from Russians? And ask at least a day later why they ask you not to clean, or why the “do not disturb” sign is on for so long; is it supposed to be 6 stars? This is simply not decent behavior towards hotel guests!
I'm not a vicious tourist and I love the Kempinski chain. And I stayed in hotels of this chain in India and the Emirates. And I don't want them to turn into garbage dumps. Moreover, they can make the rest comfortable, but for some reason in this hotel only after a kick. So relax at Kempinski Did Sea, it's wonderful! But keep in mind that you must help yourself to have a good rest. And tell the hotel managers where and what needs to be fixed. They themselves do not see. I now understand that the hotel manager should have been invited after the beach to swim again when there was another smell and dirt in the water, and then have breakfast and dinner at their restaurant. And then everything would be fine.
But if nothing changes, then the sea will become thinner and dirtier, the food will be more modest, the beach will be dirtier and older, and prices are unlikely to fall.
I give the hotel a three, which I consider a shameful assessment for Kempinski.
P. S. As we were told, the Jordanian Tourism Board is concerned about the decline in the flow of tourists from Russia, and they cannot understand what this is connected with. I think I have named several reasons.
