Tour from News Travel (NEWS Travel) with a transfer through Kharkiv-Sharjah-Colombo, Air Arabia air carrier Airbus 320. Stock up on food and go! We rested at the Chaaya Tranz Hikkaduwa 4 * hotel from October 5 to October 14.2013, respectively, the tour from October 4 to October 15 - the first and last day is the road. Before the tsunami of 2004, the hotel was 3 *, and after a complete renovation in 2011, it deservedly wears 4 *!!!
The road is very tiring, it took us a day from Poltava to the hotel itself - and rest in this paradise country is just wonderful!! ! The time difference with Ukraine in summer is 2 and a half hours ahead, and in winter by 3 and a half hours.
Departure from Kharkov at 13.10 transfer in Sharjah and arrival in Colombo at 4.30 in the morning documents-luggage-guide-bus and after 3 hours of travel on the highway (highway) my friends and I at the hotel around 9 am, settled only after 12.00. We had breakfast right away - instead of the last day.

Wi-Fi - in the rooms and throughout the hotel for FREE! Do not forget to update the applications at home, and upon arrival at the reception, take the code.
HIKKADUWA is a clean village, with middle-class residents by the standards of Lanka, schoolchildren in white uniforms, both boys and girls. (before leaving, I read about dirt, lice and stench - NOT confirmed). Transport is a separate issue - extreme left-hand traffic and the driver on the right and the door, respectively, on the left, until the last day it was not familiar.
After the 2004 tsunami, not all of the buildings were restored. The road along the ocean, hotels on the shore and hardly any shops opposite.
THE HOTEL is the best on the coast of Hikkaduwa. With a fairly green area and not small for Lanka, 5 floors with 35 rooms each, a little more than 140 rooms in total.
Ground floor reception and restaurant, cafe, recreation area. From the first to the fourth - rooms, The best in comfort-dryness rooms on the 3rd floor.
There are many chipmunks, monitor lizards, iguanas (a small dragon), crows and probably some other animals on the territory. We were very pleased to meet them =)).
At the reception, not a single word is understood in Russian, communication is only in English, or with an interpreter in a mobile phone =). Only our cleaner knows a little Russian.
The hotel often cut out the lights for a few seconds.
Opposite the hotel there are many shops. There is a supermarket not far away from the Citrus Hotel, where we basically bought everything. There is also a liquor store, the prices are all fixed and already indicated on the product, with a check you can return an empty bottle, it costs 40 rupees. On the other side of the hotel, about a kilometer away, there is a fruit and vegetable market.
The hotel is surrounded by ocean on three sides. And all three sides are completely different. If you stand facing the ocean -
On the right side there is a quiet lagoon, a little further along the shore of the boat and the CORAL SANDS HOTEL 3 * and HIKKADUWA BEACH Hotel 3 *,
right in front of the hotel is small and dead coral where big turtles swim,

there is a big storm on the left side, there are hotels CITRUS HIKKADUWA 4 * and LANKA SUPERCORALS 2 *.
The hotel often hosts conferences, weddings, presentations - we saw it all.
NUMBER given after 12.00 on the third floor №309. All rooms with ocean view. Spacious room with everything you need in it. There is an additional sofa for relaxation with many pillows of different sizes. The same sofa is on the spacious balcony. There is a kettle-tea corner with replenishment of water, tea, coffee, cream and sugar. The air conditioner worked silently, a medium-sized safe with the ability to encode with a regular electronic code and a bank card or USB, a mini fridge (we immediately asked to remove the minibar), a 32 * TV.
Two towels per person, hair dryer, shampoo, shower gel, soap, wipes, bathing cap. In the description of the hotel it was written toothbrushes and paste, as well as a shaving machine, we didn’t have this, we asked the cleaner, he brought us only brushes. There is also a mosquito fumigator in the room (with us, mosquitoes were not seen in the hotel).
They cleaned the room, changed towels and replenished bath accessories, water and tea in the morning and evening.
The dampness in the rooms is very high, so you can not turn off the air conditioner so that condensate does not flow along the walls and ceiling. We got used to the air conditioner on 24 during the day, and at night we turned it off, because it was cool to sleep, and we didn’t have drips from the walls.
MEAL was paid half board HB. The food is good, there was plenty to choose from - a lot of fruits (mango, pineapple, carom, watermelon, apples, bananas, tangerines and other exotic fruits), meat (chicken, pork, beef and lamb) and fish dishes (three types of fish, shrimp, squid), both spicy (in a dark bowl with tied ribbons on the lid) and slightly spicy in shiny stainless steel containers). From drinks - tea, coffee, diluted with water juice of coconut, pineapple, orange, and 3 more types only for breakfast.

It is forbidden to take food out of the restaurant, this is monitored. Those who have all-inclusive meals are wearing bracelets, and then they can drink drinks throughout the day.
For dinner, the dress code, men are not allowed with bare shoulders, you need to wear a T-shirt and not a T-shirt.
The BEACH on the right side of the hotel is gentle, without a storm, sometimes small pebbles in the lagoon. There is a coral reef 200 meters from the shore, and that's where the waves stay, and only a little swell reaches the shore. We never swam on corals, although we took snorkels, masks and fins. There really was a big storm, the siren turned on twice and rescued those who swam far into the ocean, they quickly sailed to the rescue even from the boat station 700 meters from the hotel . . In general, we decided not to risk it.
Right in front of the hotel, 3 large turtles swim up, they are fed with algae and, of course, everyone is photographed. One of the turtles is the most contact, - she constantly goes to people even during a storm, the locals say that she is 83 years old.
There is a shower on the beach and near the pool, they gave out beach towels, they could be changed several times a day. Sunbeds are located in the green area of the hotel. We settled down on sun loungers under coconut palms and went to swim in the ocean, the distance is small and it is quite normal to walk 15 meters along the sand to the ocean.
Locals walk along the beach and offer to buy coconuts, pareos and various textiles.
There is a POOL for adults and children, we did not swim in it, we like the ocean more!
We saw that people swam in the pool from 6 am to 7.30 pm.
ANIMATION if you can call it that. Live music every evening, Taste and color as they say……sang a few Russian songs, and a couple of evenings there were folk dances.

We ordered TOURS not from a guide (during the meeting we realized that we could not understand such a Russian language), but from local guys. As guides, they are nothing, they are more intermediaries, because they simply organize a car for you, accompany you along the way and transfer it to another guide at each site, who also speaks Russian very poorly.
We went from Sambat (on the beach with hair tied in a ponytail, before the excursion he spoke, but on the excursion itself he was silent, and did not willingly answer questions, although other tourists were happy and he talked more with them) on an excursion to Kandy from 5 am to 22 , 00 - (pineapple plantation, spice garden, Temple of the Tooth, riding elephants, Kandy Botanical Garden and PUSSELLAWA Tea Plantation with a tea factory, we refused to plant stones because we were already tired), took from Amelie - speaks Russian better ( ask him at the Dolphin restaurant) a boat trip to the Lagoon - which I liked the most, we saw a lot of monitor lizards, flying foxes, monkeys, mongooses, various birds, a crocodile, it also included the Turtle Farm, the Stone Factory, the Spice Garden.
We traveled by bus to Galle Fort 17 km. from the hotel, travel by air-conditioned minibus 75 rupees one way, bus 35 rupees, and then another to the Unawatuna lagoon (6-8 km from Galle), there is also a Temple on top above the beach. I did not like the lagoon, our hotel's lagoon is much better and cleaner.
We also traveled by regular bus to Ambalangoda, - I wanted local color =), I got the impression that they had not seen whites. 15 km from the hotel towards Colombo. We walked around the town, there is a large supermarket, we went to the market. Travel by bus without air conditioning 30 rupees per person one way.
$100 = Rs 12.900, passport required. They changed it at the airport, it was possible not to change it there, there are many banks near the hotel with the same rate, and in Western Union the rate is more profitable than 130 and without a passport you can.
Shops and market purchases only for Rs! Only for excursions paid in dollars.

SHOPPING home, but what about without them? =)) Red Rum Calypso was bought home - 1450 rupees, 750 ml. 4 bottles per person are allowed, all kinds of teas are not very cheap but good (in Mlesna shops it is better than others, and of course at the factory from 1400 for 1 kg of crushed BOP, and higher, up to 36000 rupees Silver Tips (upper buds from a tea bush ) It is allowed to export up to 6 kg of tea per person. Pineapples from 1 dollar apiece, Royal yellow drinking coconut from 30 rupees (only in luggage !!! ), spices for veskari and other mixtures of peppers are excellent! , their Ayurveda products ( Ayurveda) toothpaste with Supirivicky pepper, Kesha healing oil for hair, leather bags, people bought masks, Ba? tik - hand-painted on fabric.
ABOUT THE WEATHER - we were very lucky with the weather in the first half of October, there were a couple of rains in 10 days, 3 or 5 minutes each. Air during the day from +32 and above, at night +28, water in the ocean in the morning +25, and by afternoon +28. A small warm breeze was constantly blowing.
It was very pleasant to swim in the ocean under a downpour! - this happened only once.
They took sun protection with protection 30, and also took mosquito remedies - but they were not useful at the hotel, they are needed on excursions in the jungle.
