I'll start with + the hotel:
1) The location is convenient: pool + ocean + restaurant + room - everything is close. On the right 200m - surfers and a sandy beach with big waves; on the right 200m - the lagoon and reefs, where huge turtles come to feed. There are no waves in the lagoon, the sandy shore is just super! BUT!! ! The presence of a large number of local sellers is very annoying, especially women without men. Very intrusive, worse than in Turkey.
2) We were lucky with the room - we settled for a bottle of vodka with a view of everything at the same time (pool, ocean, restaurant) - 2nd floor (it's the best), the ocean is close.
3) Cleaned up well, every day; When there was no small money left Ukrainian. chocolate.
4) With plumbing and sewerage. The drains are lucky, others are not so lucky.
5) Bed, linen - at level 5.
6) Air conditioning - excellent!
7) Safe in the room.
8) Swimming pool - as I like: heated and gentle, not shallow.
The hotel was positioned as 4+.

9) Close sea cafes overlooking the ocean (10 meters) - this is perhaps the best. Prices are very reasonable - $20 for lunch without booze.
10) They speak English well (unlike Thais), they know little Russian, there is no one in the hotel except a guide, whom you will not find. You need to know the language in order to ask for extra towels. there are two of them, and they immediately say - we are 3 stars, ask for blankets, call a doctor.
11) The restaurant is very good, but there are almost no salads, vegetables and greens. Shrimps almost every day. Fruit only guava, watermelon and bananas. But super-freshies are real! ))
"-" MINUSES:
Recreational and sports. there are no events, only live music in the evening (1-2 musicians).
The spa at the hotel is expensive, on the contrary it is much cheaper and a very high-quality massage!
Be sure to take something for bites and an anti-allergen. A mosquito bite cost me $100 with a doctor's call. (swelling of the face was Sri Lankan)
Rooms - white hut with tiles on the floor, the hotel is old.
There is no beach, it is, but not for bathing. You have to walk 200m.
The guide is a complete lack of presence - 0 responsibility, Yuri is called, he never picks up the phone, he is rude (I read reviews about him, I was ready).
They say they steal in Sri Lanka in rooms, I didn’t see it, but I didn’t provoke either, I hid everything in a safe and in a suitcase under a lock, except for rags, of course.
Humidity increased - sticky and shiny all the time;
Very dirty everywhere outside the hotel and the smell of second hand.
I was struck by the lack of an abundance of exotic fruits (Thailand rules here).
Socket outlets of terrible quality are all on snot, in our room, in others, in different ways.
The local population honks on the roads all the time, drives badly, like in China, and pesters endlessly. Forget about the rental, this is not Crete. Junk, right-hand traffic, no rules.
I enjoy any country and find the best in everything. It is better for me to know the cons in advance in order to understand whether it is important for me or not. Enjoy! In general, Ceylon is still exotic))).

If you choose Thailand - Sri Lanka, then, of course, Thailand. It will be a little more expensive. )))
