We rested in this hotel in December 2017 as a family of 4 people - 2 adults and two children - we had two rooms. Initially, I chose small family-type hotels (for several families) and never regretted choosing this one.
To begin with, I’ll say from the reviews of families who are faced with small meals - that they give you everything in portions (for example, two eggs for breakfast, toast, jam, tea, sausage) and this is where the supplements end. Here, for breakfast and dinner (it was more than enough for us), quite varied and tasty food, a choice of dishes, fruits and desserts, take and eat as much as you like (you can’t take it out with you).
At lunch, we always visited local cafes (opposite the exit from the hotel and Red lobster (an awesome place with delicious fresh juices and dishes with seafood and more). Lunch for four with seafood cost us $ 20. Digestion problems (as in Egypt) has never been (in vain they carried sorbents).
Two rooms were given to us with a sea view (two packs of cigarettes and chocolates were left at the reception) - they are definitely better than going outside - noise, din, rickshaws always squeaking, and we listened only to the ocean. The only thing that interfered in the rooms was the smell (moreover, it was not in one room, but it smelled in the next one), they took a tablet with films (the television was not Russian-speaking), the air conditioners worked with a bang. Room cleaning daily. Wi-Fi was enough for us at the reception, although it was tight. If you want to save money and eat shrimp, take a container and a boiler for boiling Tiger and King shrimp (1kg-10$), as we were offered to cook already bought ones for $10+ in the kitchen.
We didn’t swim in the pool (children plunged a couple of times) - only in the ocean - they didn’t go for bleach. Ocean - SUOOOOPER! ! ! Children most of the morning swam (on the right, the beach around the corner) with turtles and various animals, in the afternoon they jumped on the waves (on the left). We were very happy with the swim.
Do not try to swim on the waves - the ocean is dragging in, she herself was convinced, she barely rowed out.
Opposite a chic supermarket - there is almost everything (in vain I took 5 sticks of sausage with me, they left back). There is a vodka shop near the supermarket - beer is not expensive, very tasty, rum is expensive, so-so, we couldn’t try their vodka - they foolishly didn’t ask about its availability (drank our own, brought it from home). The seafood market is closer - to the left of the hotel, the one to the right went and went, then they also took a rickshaw, they drove for a long time, and the prices were the same + taxi home. To the left to the fork and to the right is the market (they took only black pepper there), all the spices were collected in the supermarket (but very few 1 kg, which I VERY regret). Foolishly carried 20 kg of tea, it would be better if they picked up spices! ! ! They are chic (they took curry, cumin, white pepper, and some other delicious).
A lot of clothes are sewn down the street to the right (and they are sold anyway) to order - well, very beautiful and high quality.
To the right on the other side of the hotel, if you go there is a boutique of European clothes (polo, ferari, generally famous brands), it turns out that in Sri Lanka they sew for Europe to order. Luxury quality, low prices. A suitcase of things and a suitcase of condiments with tea were taken away (we bought additional ones in the supermarket). The fruit market, by the way, is near the fish market, the one on the left. There is also a pharmacy nearby (on the same side). We collected Indonesian creams - now we are bastard. They took medicines, they do not work like ours (for example, for coughs and allergies, etc. ). True, it took a long time to explain, everyone understands only English, but in almost 3 weeks we ourselves began to speak it.
Our flight was delayed for a day, but the hotel left us our two rooms and food without additional payments (I also put an extra breakfast with us in the morning at 4-00). We are very grateful to them for this.
We didn’t go on excursions, except for one for $ 40 for four - a stone factory (complete garbage, a divorce to buy something, the same spice plantation - the same ointments are sold in a supermarket at a ridiculous price - by the way, we took them with us), and here the turtle farm was interesting, well, a trip on a motor boat-type safari on the water. On a safari, by the way, they bring them to their ancient temple and there the monk knits white threads and asks for donations, when they open a journal for writing, everywhere everyone gives 200.500, 1000 rupees, but in fact they just add zeros, like, so that the next one would be ashamed to give less . We didn’t go to elephants and other long ones for two days (the jungle was already shown to us), but they advised us to see elephants in Thailand (we are planning), but we had enough small temples. By the way, the Russian-speaking wife of the local guide told us about the excursions, and she also told us all the ins and outs of long trips, although she could just cut down the money.
If you swim with turtles near the TRANZ HOTEL, you will see a green building further along the beach on the corner under the "DOLPHIN" establishment. If you walk further along the beach, there will be another convenient place for snorkeling - there are a lot of fish, even more corals. Focus on a large crowd of people. Unfortunately, we were never told about it.
In general, the holiday was a success. It cost us 17 days 18 nights at 75.000 UAH. for four with two rooms (children 12 and 13 years old were not suitable for shared accommodation). I would like to return - definitely YES. We had two birthdays at the hotel - we were congratulated, there were cakes, candles - everything was as it should be. Special thanks to the hotel management for this. The exchange rate is better at the airport. Adapters for sockets are not needed.
