Overview of Hikkaduwa
Hikkaduwa is one of the most popular and developed resorts in Sri Lanka. It is good for its proximity to Gale (although not as close as Unawatuna), the ability to relatively quickly and easily get from the airport via a toll highway, as well as its infrastructure, which is quite good by Sri Lankan standards.
It was because of the popularity of Hikkaduwa that I was quite skeptical about this place. But the stunning marine nature of the coral reef delighted us. It is worth coming to Hikkaduwa at least for the sake of it. For the huge variety of marine life that can be seen near the shore. Reef sharks, moray eels, a variety of brightly colored fish and turtles. Of course, turtles that come to the shore to feed from the hands of tourists are the main attraction of this resort, which will not leave you indifferent.
In addition, there are many surf schools and rentals in Hikkaduwa. In the morning, the fish market rages in the local harbor. And not far from the town you can visit the memorial to the victims of the tsunami, the turtle shelter and enjoy the solitude on quiet calm beaches.
In Hikkaduwa, there are many hotels and guesthouses of different price categories. There are many of the most popular cafes and restaurants. Although there are practically no well-known supermarket chains here, Sandagiri on the main street saves the day. You can buy souvenirs at reasonable prices, as well as stock up on tea, the variety of which is impressive.
In general, despite the large number of people, this place can be charming.

рынок рыбный в Хиккадуве один,не знаю о каком вы пишите,и он бесплатный. разве что вдруг появился еще один или он не в Хиккадуве Так вы читали,а я там покупала еду. .На счет полно акул,риф там протяженностью несколько км.Где именно, вы их видели ? Почему спрашиваю.потому что даже местные их возле берега не видели,а риф недалеко от берега.

Я не читал (вернее не только читал), но был там. Есть рынок возле входа в гавань и там лотки с рыбой есть на улице, а в самом здании рядом овощи-фрукты. А есть сама гавань, причалы, куда можно утром прийти, и купить морепродукты у самих рыбаков. Понимаете разницу?
Акул видели рядом со спотом, куда черепахи приплывают. 20 метров глубже и четь левее. Местные тоже в курсе про акул. Как и туристы, которые плавают с маской или ходят по рифу в отлив.

На рифе видели. Их там много. Мурены 2 попадалось.
Может черепахи и приплывают, чтобы поесть, но они не приплывают, чтобы их гладили десятки людей. И их там уже больше 4-х.
Рынок находится на территории самой гавани. Не путайте с рынком рядом со входом. Работает рано утром, когда рыбаки привозят и продают свой улов. Не знаю когда вы там были, но судя по тому, что читал в интернете, платный он давным давно.
То, что приготовить могут в кафе, мне кажется всем и так понятно, но в самой гавани нет привычных многим точек (как, например, в Таиланде), где тут же могут тебе всё приготовить.
