Rested in Sri Lanka from 14 to 21 October 2012.
Let's start with the flight. He was very tiresome. Now there are direct flights, but the agency advised us to fly with a transfer to Dubai with Flydubai airlines in order to walk around and stretch a little. The first flight was delayed, in the Emirates we were forced to just run for a transfer, but when we boarded the plane there were still minutes. 40 were waiting for us to take off. We thought it was a coincidence, but then after talking with some people at the hotel, we realized that this was a pattern. In general, if possible, I advise direct flights, you will suffer a little, but save more time and your nerves. At the airport in Colombo, it's full of noise, no one knows where the exchange office is and where you can buy a local telephone card. Remember! it's all there at the exit from the airport. Another very unpleasant impression was caused by the luggage porter, he just ran up and snatched the bag from our hands, having carried it 15 meters, he began to demand 10 dollars, but we gave him only one dollar (did not deserve it). Conclusion - hold the bags tighter, then the atoms will knock you down money out of the blue. Our hotel is 60 km from the airport, but we drove 2.5 hours. The roads are very narrow, traffic jams start very early. At 7:30 the children go to school. And in general, the first impression was not very good, the poverty of the population is very noticeable, these gloomy houses...
But everything changed when we arrived at the hotel and saw the ocean. The impression of the hotel is very good, clean, comfortable, every day they clean and change towels, there are always enough sunbeds for everyone, the pool is clean. The food is good and varied, there are spicy dishes, but this is marked with a sign. I recommend taking all inclusive. Although the prices there are inexpensive, you always need to travel somewhere, because there is only one restaurant nearby, and even then it seems to work after 16.00. We had all inclusive, and people who had breakfasts and dinners just on the spot in the hotel paid extra for all inclusive, because even to drink beer or other drinks you need to go somewhere or buy at the hotel 1.5 times more expensive, in in general with all inclusive it will be cheaper.

In this country it gets dark very quickly at 18.00 it is already dark, there is no animation in the hotel, only on weekends they tried to do something, it is very boring and there is nothing to do.
On the beach we met a tuk-tuk driver, whose name is Tusito, he is learning Russian. He took us in a tuk tuk for 200 rupees ($ 1.5). He talked a lot, but what distinguishes him from the rest of the tukers on the beach is that he plays the drum and sings. With him and his second cousin Osa in the evening we gathered on the beach, caught crabs, drank rum and listened to Tusito's singing, it was very interesting, they entertained us to the fullest. And it was all free, because. we went on all excursions and shopping with Tusito. Regarding excursions, I advise you to travel with tukers, because. from the hotel there is a very large and not maneuverable bus on these roads, the travel time in one direction is 5-6 hours. With Tusito and his brother, we drove a comfortable Toyota and saved more time. The price of the excursions will also differ, when we went with the locals, they bought tickets for us themselves (everything is cheaper for the locals), and when with our guide, you buy all the tickets for yourself at the box office and for tourists there is much more expensive.
We also ordered shrimp and lobsters from the fishermen and Tusito cooked them for us. Tel. Tusito +94-77.94 8.73, their communication there is inexpensive, call and you won't regret it! I recommend him to everyone.
The weather was not hot, the ocean was always warm, although there were waves and there was always a red flag, we still swam, it rained every day, mostly in the evening (but a couple of times it was during the day), but it didn’t interfere at all and didn’t affect anything, for 7 days we were perfectly tanned and bathed. In general, we concluded that it is better to go there out of season, there is no that strong heat, but on the contrary, such a pleasant warmth.
We are very glad that we rested in Sri Lanka and are also satisfied with the choice of the hotel. I recommend to everyone.
