Rested with my husband from 12/05/11 to 12/16/11. After 15 years of marriage, we repeated our honeymoon. Everything caused almost childish delight: the ocean - powerful, raging and addictive, palm trees and coconuts, smells, sounds... Words cannot convey. This is a very exotic country, absolutely different for those who are accustomed to relaxing in Europe, Turkey, Egypt.
There is no such grooming, maybe even some kind of luxury. The country is very poor, people generally look like beggars, but at the same time they smile at you, they are happy for you - after all, you came to spend money in their country. I guess it all depends on the mood. I really liked the trip, well, just extraordinary. Next time I would go for a longer period (11 days is not enough). Almost all the time spent on excursions. Be sure to go on excursions - it is informative, interesting and not boring, since in a hotel for 11 days you can get a little tired of the monotony. This (the ocean, chipmunks, aqua aerobics and "shopping" in local shops) can delight, well, a maximum of 2 days, then you want variety.
I agree with the previous review about the food. But, did you come there? If food is in the first place, then it is better to go to Turkey.

We went on excursions with a beach guide Boni (real name Fernando), his beach restaurant is the first to the right of the Palm Beach 5 * hotel. Ate (dinners) with him and in the next restaurant at Valera (real name Anande). Very tasty shrimp, but not jumbo (the head is big, the tail is nothing to eat), the soup with seafood is lovely. Rice with seafood - very tasty. Freshly made freshly squeezed mango or pineapple juice is something... As for the cheapness of food, I can argue: for example, 1 kg of rice costs 0.25 dollars in terms of rupees, a portion of rice is 5 dollars. But... Our restaurants are not cheaper. And then, you.... on the ocean.... with your loved one.... Damn, but for this you don't feel sorry for any money!!!
By the way, you can change money through the same Boni, and it is better to buy Calypso red rum through locals, since the price increases when you see a white man.
My husband was on ocean fishing, he was completely delighted, he caught two fish, a cat. We then ate at Valera's restaurant.
The thing I didn't like was the elephant ride. It was the toughest "sex" in my life, and it was scary at the same time . . Especially when the elephant began to descend to the river on wet slippery clay, and I crawled down his back to his ears and tried to hold on, and not fall under the feet of a gray eared. Never again in life - once is enough.
It was a very difficult flight back. The room was evicted at 12 noon, transfer to the airport at 23.00, departure at 4.15, arrival in Sharjah at 7.20 (local time). I managed to have a pokemon on the plane. There is nothing to do in Sharjah, and it’s expensive - we didn’t like duty. But this does not apply to the hotel and the trip.
Sri Lanka is remembered every day. Even the air is filled with aromas.
