After reading reviews about the hotel, we expected the worst, but in fact the hotel corresponds to the declared 4 *. We were satisfied. Our room was renovated, with new furniture, overlooking the ocean. Humidity, of course, is felt, but it is difficult to expect otherwise in such a climate, and even next to the ocean. Breakfasts and dinners are quite decent, a lot of fruits, a variety of dishes, although many local dishes are too spicy (those with curry). Dinner also includes water, tea and coffee. The hotel was undergoing renovations, but it did not interfere with the rest. You can use the pool and grounds of the neighboring Royal Palms Beach Hotel. The rooms were cleaned perfectly, towels were changed every day, shampoos and gels were added as they were used. If you want to give a tip to the maids, then they need to give money directly into their hands, because they do not take banknotes left on the table in the room.
I really liked Sri Lanka: amazing nature, animals, plants, the ocean, food (I especially liked fresh juices). We also went on a 3 day sightseeing tour around the country. Were in Sigiriya, Kandy, Dambul, Galle. Entrance tickets to all objects for tourists are not cheap. Stayed at Thilanka hotels. They are amazing! Huge rooms, delicious and varied food for breakfast and dinner.

What did not like! the fact that the locals expect a tip even for the most unnecessary imposed service. This is especially annoying when you already pay a lot for an entrance ticket (for example, when riding elephants). I did not like in this regard the excursion along the river. There, on every island on which tourists are released, there is a “beggar” in the form of a cinnamon manufacturer, a monk, a fish farmer and aggressively demands a tip.
In anticipation of a tip, the maids grazed endlessly around the room: either they would specially bring plates for the fumigator, or they would change the towel in addition - they were very tiring with their obtrusiveness.
