We rested at the Tangerine Beach 4 * hotel in November 2012. The hotel is quite pleasant. It has a common territory with the Royal Palms 5 * hotel. The rooms are not big and not small, quite nice. Rooms cleaned every day, left 1 dollar. One day, after cleaning, a vase with a lotus appeared on the table, a trifle, but nice. There are certainly small cons, but they are not strained. The socket has three holes, so there is little difficulty in recharging phones and other equipment. But for 1 dollar (1 dollar decides everything) we were shown how to use it without problems. Not all hotel rooms face the ocean. The balcony of our room overlooked the garden, although it is difficult to call it a garden. Generally pretty quiet. The railway is not far from the hotel. Trains run along it often. 90% of Russians and Ukrainians rest in the hotel. We only had breakfasts, we had lunch and dinner at perhaps the most popular cafe (restaurant) See Shells, where the food is delicious, one serving is enough for two, the menu is in Russian, the price is quite reasonable. In the evening, you can not find empty seats.
The beach is separated from the hotel by a fence, under which the girls are sitting peacefully, offering to buy beads or handkerchiefs.
The ocean is what we went for. Such beauty, such a long coastline, such an exciting ocean is probably nowhere else. We practically did not manage to fully swim in it, but we were able to fully enjoy its power and beauty.

Sri Lankan guides meet you on the shore and at the exit of the hotel and offer various excursions. Since we initially took a two-day excursion to Kandy, Sigiriya, Dambulla, an elephant nursery, traveled around the mountain serpentines of Sri Lanka for two days, we especially didn’t want to go anywhere else. You can go to Kulutara from the hotel by tuk-tuk (200-300 rupees round trip) or by regular bus, which will be even cheaper, but definitely more exotic.
Do not look for a good massage (for example, as in Thailand), it simply does not exist! We went for a massage (1000 rupees 1 hour) at Oasis. Did not like! The towels are not fresh, the massage is classic, it will not be realistic to put on clothes after the oil.
There are a lot of places on the beach, enough sunbeds. There is also a nice moment - animation. In the pool, water aerobics is held, yoga is invited, you can play golf and volleyball.
In short, the stay at the hotel is quite pleasant. Wish you have a great time in Sri Lanka!
