We flew to Sri Lanka for the second time, so we knew exactly what we wanted from the rest.
When monitoring hotels, more attention was paid to the location, and not to the number of cleanings and bed linen changes per day.

If you are going to not get out of the hotel for two weeks, look for another option right away!
In my opinion, Long Beach should be perceived as a guest house and your vacation should be planned accordingly.

Pros:
1. Price.
If we take away the flight, then a day of accommodation in a double room cost us 70 USD. e. (this includes transfer, breakfast and insurance).
2. Location.
From the hotel you can easily and fairly quickly get to:

- Galle Fort.
There is a bus stop next to the hotel. We traveled by bus number 350, the fare is 30 rupees per person. Drive 15-20 minutes. If you are afraid to ride the bus, bargain with tukers.
The fort itself is quite picturesque, by the way it is the largest European fort in Asia that has survived to this day. Lots of cafes and shops inside.

At 50 meters from the central bus station (near the fort), there is a four-story shopping center. On the third floor there is a Cargling Food City supermarket, where you can buy alcohol, fruits, seafood, etc. at fixed prices.

- Bays of Unawatuna.
You can get there by bus or tuk-tuk.
The bay is protected by a double ring of reefs, so the ocean is always calm there. As for me, it's a bit dirty there, but it's definitely worth a visit once. There are a bunch of restaurants. We liked Tartaruga, a little expensive, but tasty and normal service. There is also a cool fruit shop with a large assortment and sane prices, I advise you to try rambutans and mangosteens (durinan for an amateur)))))

- Jungle Beach.
Can be reached on foot from Unawatuna. Landmark - Pis Pagoda.

- Vijaya Beach.
The best way to get there is by tuk-tuk.
A small well maintained beach surrounded by a reef. Very nice place for a relaxing beach holiday.
At low tide, you can treat yourself to snorkeling, not Egypt of course, but there are fish)))
There is also a guesthouse (night stay in a double room -100 USD) and a restaurant of the same name. Having ordered any drink in the restaurant (the prices are very affordable), you can take any sunbed for the whole day.
The restaurant cooks well, I advise you to try pizza and tuna sashimi (Sashimi style Tuna with wasabi and soy sause). We visited this place three times, never heard Russian speech, only foreigners rest.

Minuses:
1. The main disadvantage is very large waves. It is simply dangerous for women and children to swim. When I was pumped out by a German, the poor fellow was covered by a wave and dragged into the ocean, barely saved.
To the left along the beach, near the Fortress hotel, there is a small paddling pool, but flying to Sri Lanka to swim in this puddle is stupid.

2. Nutrition.
Judging by the breakfasts, of the four hotels in which I had a chance to stay in Sri Lanka, the food in Long Beach is the worst.
We didn't go hungry, but we didn't like the choice and quality of the food.

3. Infrastructure.

In previous reviews I read enthusiastic odes to the terraces on the ground floor. They say you leave the room, and then the ocean, beauty, grace ...In fact, everything looks a little different: (Leaving the room, you find yourself on a narrow (10 meters wide) lawn densely packed with sunbeds. In the morning, two meters from your "wonderful" a friendly family with a shrill mother, noisy kids and a loud coughing father))) settles down on the terraces))) In the evenings, the same characters + their friends thump violently at your windows ...The absence of one of the curtains covering our door to the terrace, peep, gave this action a special piquancy show and more.
In general, this did not affect our vacation in any way (we left the hotel at 8.00, returned late, and I hung the door with beach rugs taken from home), but I do not advise taking a room on the first floor!
The rooms themselves are quite worn out, there are stains on the linen, you can’t ask for shampoo and gel, etc. Well, what else can you expect from a budget hotel? ! They didn’t rob, the water was hot, the air conditioner worked - and thanks for that! ))))

Conclusion:
This hotel should be chosen for the purpose of "overnight"! If you fly for a week, plan to go on excursions, and even they will offer a normal price - you can take it!

Adviсe:
- do not take rooms with a view of the garden (garden view), it's dark! ! !
- there are 3 cafes near the hotel:
sea food (located near the bus stop). Canteen with plastic tables. They cook so-so, but not expensive and there is one big plus - relatively cheap (250 rupees if I'm not mistaken) bottled beer that you can take with you))))
Katalina Grill (to the right along the beach, near the plane). I didn’t like the food, the portions are large, but somehow everything is without a soul (((But ice cream for 60 rupees! For a change, you can go.
Wiener Dschungel Restaurant (to the right along the beach behind Katalina Grill.
From the main entrance of the hotel, a tuk-tuker will take you there for 100 rupees, the reference point is a gas station). The name is alarming, but the food is good, the prices are higher than the previous ones, but it's justified! We loved the shark steak!
- I advise you to buy souvenirs in a shop across the street from sea food. Normal prices.
- The hotel has a good jewelry store, prices are reasonable and there are interesting products.
- The gift shop at the hotel sells postcards, at the reception you can buy a stamp and send it to the mailbox standing there. Postcards went to Kyiv for a month, but they came! It's worth every penny.

Have a nice holiday everyone! )))
