Just what I want to say - take rooms ONLY with sea view. (either when booking immediately, or with an additional charge of $ 30 per night on the spot) Rooms overlooking the garden - a lottery. There are rooms without a TV, hairdryer, safe, etc. , very dirty, plus the air conditioners behind the wall make a lot of noise.
Rooms with ocean view - everything is fine (but still make allowance for ocean noise - you may not get enough sleep in the first days after the flight)
Were at breakfast - standard. Eggs, bacon, vegetables, pancakes, fruits, tea, coffee. Everything is delicious and plentiful.
At lunch and dinner - people said that it was quite good.
Drinking water - 0.5 liters per person per day in the room when cleaning.
Cleaning - good, regardless of the tip.
If you leave the room - do not forget to close the balcony on the latch to avoid the invasion of squirrels (we have such guests gnawed a bunch of mangoes : ))
The pools are open all night, lots of bleach.

The beach line is very wide, the sand is fine and very pleasant. Swimming in the ocean = jumping on the waves. The main thing is to go beyond the surf line, where you can swing. I did not notice strong reverse currents, but there are plenty of small ones. Be careful.
As for the beachboys - there are about 5 people working there, we chose our own and were satisfied. For prices for excursions, they are about the same, but check the exact routes and what is included in the tour. There were people who paid the same money for the tour, but paid separately for entrance tickets (pinavella, botanical garden, etc. ) or did not get inside, but simply looked outside.
You can go to Unawatuna to swim (100 rupees round-trip on a tuk), but the sand there has long been not native and the beach is dirty. We rode to Mirissa by bus: 30-40 rupees per person one way depending on the bus (number 350 to Matara red bus - 30 rupees, buses of other colors are private, there are already 40 rupees)
The road takes half an hour - but you get an unrealistically beautiful beach and a nice lagoon without waves to the left of the island. I recommend!
At prices - shrimp 1k rupees per kg, lobster 700 grams - 4k rupees, jumbo - 1650 for 3 shrimp with salad and chips.
We ate near the hotel in Seafood, reasonable prices, large portions, delicious. With a tuker we often went to Oktoberfest for dinner, this is in Hubbradow (5 minutes by tuk from the hotel). Delicious grilled shrimp - 600 rupees per serving (10 large shrimp).
