Traveled with my wife in March 2017. We chose the hotel for a long time, according to numerous reviews and recommendations on the Internet
We chose this hotel, despite a small number of negative reviews, but for us they became even pluses. But first things first:
We bought a ticket through a travel agency, in the end we realized that it would be better to take it through the JoinUp tour operator directly. It would be cheaper, and the attitude is more pleasant after the money has been given. But what's done is done, vacation won't spoil anything for us.
The long-awaited flight with Air Arabia and the first unpleasant surprise: we are not fed. We were prepared for this and stocked up on food from the airport, and the prices on the plane are quite acceptable. In addition, our travel agent said that this airline has completely abandoned feeding on board - only buying.

But it was very surprising that Belarusians and Russians have meals included: apparently, our tour operators simply do not want to increase the cost of tickets by $ 10.
Change in Sharjah and after 9 hours with a trifle we are in the long-awaited Colombo. And from there - transfer to the hotel. It is worth noting that Long Beach is far away and the transfer, taking into account the transportation of all tourists, takes about 5 hours. It is worth thinking about an individual transfer - about $ 30.
We arrived at the hotel and liked everything at once: beautiful, clean, the air is filled with the aromas of flowers and the sounds of the ocean, polite friendly staff...but we arrived at the hotel at about 10 am, and check-in from 2 pm. The issue was resolved in an hour: they went to meet us and settled us very quickly.
The number of rooms is good. We took the deluxe sea view and the room fully met our expectations: a beautiful view of the ocean, clean beds, a small kitchen with the ability to make coffee / tea, a refrigerator. Comfortable and simple, no frills.
There are minor flaws: in some places the paint is cracked, there are small spots of dampness on the ceiling, a small gecko lived in the kitchenette. But he lived there longer than us, so the baby was not driven. Here it is worth understanding that who is going for what.
Next in order:
1. The ocean is amazing. It's big, powerful and bubbling. The hotel stands on the shore of the open ocean, which is not closed by reefs or rocks, because of this, even in a calm state there is a fairly strong line of waves and currents. Therefore, it is better not to go here with children - you will have to get dark with the waves and swim beyond the line of waves to swim. Take a closer look at Mirissa or Unawatuna.
2. Beach. Even in the most crowded time, the sandy line remains empty and deserted, and in the ocean you feel like on a desert island: the nearest people are 15 meters away. We really liked it. But here on the hotel line there are very few sunbeds and a lot of lovers to take it from morning until evening, without appearing on the beach.

This is resolved. The question is simple: a mattress on the grass under a palm tree without any sunbeds.
3. We took the BB type of food and never regretted it. The food is tasty and high quality, but very monotonous. Therefore, it is much more interesting to eat local food and fruits, they are not expensive, and you can get to the nearby Unawatuna by tuk for 50 rupees one way. Not to mention restaurants, distant and not so far. Ala carte on site is very expensive and not very tasty.
4. Food is normal everywhere. It is enough to ask for not spicy if you like medium spicy, not at all spicy if you can't stand pepper, as for the locals, as I did - if you want to feel really spicy food. There are European restaurants. We bought everything from food in a restaurant and fruits in a supermarket to traditional dishes that are prepared in not quite sterile conditions. Never poisoned anything.
5. Room cleaning is excellent even without a tip.
A couple of times they forgot to put coffee or a towel. Everything is solved with a simple request.
6. No one drives from the pools - you swim after closing - your responsibility.
7. The guide was only seen the first day. Maria did not make a pleasant impression, she constantly said that we were in a third world country and, God forbid, we would take a ticket from a local: insurance would burn out, we would be stolen, we would get lost, we would not see anything, everything would end badly ...we took excursions from a local, Patum never regretted. It turned out cheaper and more interesting. More on this later.
8. Getting in touch with the locals is easy. They themselves smile, offer something, not particularly intrusive - no one will grab your hands. Tukers near the hotels are breaking in three roads. It is enough to move 20 meters away and put your finger - vzhuh - and reasonable prices. Do not be afraid to bargain and ask why. Say that you are resting for a week and the contact will be easier.

We traveled and walked on all types of transport (buses, trains, tuks), at any time of the day, not only in busy tourist areas - no incidents or discomfort.
9. After meeting Patum, they understood why he had an inscription on the tuk-tuk "unforgettable vacation in Sri Lanka. " The guy really spins and does everything for tourists. A two-day tour for $150 with all internal excursions and entrance fees included, dinner, breakfast and hotel is no problem. River safari? OK. Bring water, shrimp, change money at a favorable rate, take it to the beach or to the city, organize dinner in a Sri Lankan family by preparing food yourself, suggest where it is sold cheaper, go out and bargain yourself ...whatever. Knows Russian better than some Russians. We became friends so much that I didn’t take money for half: for water, dinner, tuk-tuk. Also made gifts. If you are going to Koggala - write to him and he will make the rest even better. +9.77 60.9154
ten.
The excursions were so cool that there are simply not enough words to describe everything. Traveled half the island for adequate money. Impressions for a year
11. Check-out from the room at 12.00. Surcharge for late check out $10/hour. If you do not want to pay or there is no reason due to an early check-out, you can always leave your things at the reception in the luggage room, spend the day near the ocean, then use the shower. He is.
12. Departure brought a certain amount of frustration. The plane was at 5 in the morning, we were picked up from the hotel at 6.20, but actually left at 7. We expected 5 hours (until we collect everyone), but the bus was fully loaded, we immediately went to the toll road and at 22 were at the airport. We decided right away that next time we would pay for the last day not by the hour, but immediately for a day and go ourselves. Leaving at 23 to two at the airport. Perfect. And so we sat at the airport until we could.

Summing up: the rest of the willows are more than completely satisfied.

We swam a lot in the waves and the open ocean, saw amazing sunsets, traveled around the island, spent unforgettable nights in the pool under the stars, ate Sri Lankan food and visited a local house, spent a wonderful time in a pleasant and clean, and most importantly - a friendly hotel. This vacation has become the unforgettable one that everyone goes for, but, unfortunately, not everyone gets. I definitely recommend Long Beach resort.
Ps. Patum, if you are reading this, thank you. It would have been much worse without you.
