So, in order. On the coast (in this area) - the hotel is the best - in terms of location, beach. The hotel hall - as for SHL - is good, spacious, without any frills and pretentiousness. The bar is alone, boring and tedious - Europeans are sitting there - it gives the impression that they came to the bar to sit and drink beer. Swimming pool - laughter in the hall! A paddling pool with the smell of bleach, but again - who needs this pool? if you are traveling with children, then I don’t get it - why drag the children for such thousands of kilometers to plop the child into this artificial puddle ? ? Conclusion - I do not advise you to go with children under at least 10-12 years old - they will be bored there. There is no animation in the hotel, there is no entertainment. Rooms - there are garden views - not very mosquitoes there, but there are ocean views - there are three floors - zero - this is the exit directly from the room to the ocean - this room is more shabby: we had an old TV, not a plasma ( but why the hell is there a tv there? ? we didn’t turn it on) but there is a charm - you crawl out in the morning straight to the ocean, a veranda, your sunbeds, an air conditioner we had an excellent, silent working Samsung, a fridge bar, a sink, a normal bathroom, everything worked, safe in the room. On the first and second floor TV - plasma, but! access to the ocean through the hotel, but the rooms are better, it seemed to me that the renovation there is fresher. Well, to each his own choice. I chose - exit "to the ocean. " The room is in a great location (the outermost wing), there are no people passing by, no fuss, no kitchen smells, no noise - complete relaxation, I advise you to ask for rooms from S01 to S06, and even your sunbeds there, with an umbrella, the policeman on duty is sitting under a palm tree - he us guarded : -) we did not close the room from the veranda - we had our own personal security, a couple of packs of cigarettes, sweets, a smile, a little attention and again a smile - that's all! - this is your personal bodyguard! The beach and the ocean are the most important thing on SHL, and in Long Beach it is the best!!!!!!!!!! ! can not be compared with anything and with any other hotel (near Forteks, 5 *, and so there the beach is generally useless, although the hotel itself is very beautiful and respectable). So - the beach, the ocean - THIS IS OUR EVERYTHING! In the evening - a promenade along the ocean barefoot, the nervous system is completely restored. The ocean breathes warmth, the air is filled with the smell of the ocean, iodine, salt and other useful trace elements are felt. . People! in the evening do not sit in the bar, in the room - go for a walk along the ocean, breathe this air, there is nothing like it anywhere. Do not pollute your head with music and TV - listen to the ocean! It's so relaxing!!! ! Greenery in the hotel as such is not particularly, but! we had our own palm thicket (that's why I recommend this wing). There is no hotel territory as such, the road is immediately behind the hotel. The room was normally cleaned - always the same guy, friendly and helpful: if you say clean it will clean it, if you don’t say clean it will clean it anyway, so we asked not to clean it, but just give water or add shampoo or give a blanket, extra towels, well etc. Or simply asked to sweep the sand and wash the floor. In short, there are no complaints about cleaning, the main thing is to kindly explain what you need. They did not indulge in tips - any money, presents, thanks - they are happy. Remember, the Sri Lankan people are generally very kind, simple-hearted - do not demand thorough European etiquette and service from them - they are not familiar with it. Just ask - they will help you in any way they can, they will do everything you need. Just be patient. These people have experienced a lot of grief in the last ten years - the tsunami, the civil war. . . In fairness, I should note that among these lovely Sri Lankans there are rogues, boors and impudent ones. This is everywhere, and in Lanka there are only a few of them, but they happen, do not pay attention, keep your ears sharp and do not let yourself be deceived. Listen to the opinion of vacationers "with experience" and do not make hasty conclusions, do not agree "at once and for everything" - wait and take a closer look. Beechboys clearly cut through the "new arrivals" - by tan. They have their own agents, they have daily statistics on how many and when people, in particular Russian speakers, have checked into which hotel. They catch such a "fresh" near the ocean on the beach with the banal phrase "How is the diel? " "Good? " - don't get fooled! take a closer look for a couple of days, cool down : -) because having assured with a neutral phrase "We'll think about it", these businessmen, like annoying mosquitoes, will bother you for the rest of your vacation. Do not give out your phone numbers - they will call. Just watch everything that happens around you for a couple of days, and then draw conclusions - from whom to take an excursion, from whom to buy fruit, how best to go to Galle or Unavantuna, where to buy rum, spices and more. Again - remember, free cheese is only in a mousetrap! they catch you with the phrase "I'll take you to Galle for 100 rupees" - remember, this is already a catch, they will bring you up "under their own" shops, shops, etc. Advice: don't let yourself be hung up - go out onto the road, take a tuk-tuk, pay money ordinary carrier - and you will rest along your route. Think in advance what you want to see and where to visit, chat with members of the forum, vacationers. Well it is. I’ll return to the hotel - there is no infrastructure, there are a couple of eateries called a restaurant nearby, the prices are tourist prices, you need to go to the shops by tuk-tuk, look for fruits in local markets, and there are guys on the beach - but this is necessary on the recommendation - you give them money, running - they bring fruit to the hotel, rum, it's a bummer to leave the hotel. And so, all the same tuk-tuk by the road, say "buy fruit" - they will take you. Restaurant, food - you can't think of anything worse, from edible only pineapples and cream soufflé for dessert. I can state one thing: the amazing ability to grow all possible, impossible vegetables, fruits, catch an amazing variety of chic seafood - spoil all this when cooking !! ! Let me tell you right now, I love spicy food. Sharp! but not oversalted to the point of no! ! having had dinner once - in the morning I could not open my eyes, this did not happen to me, I was scared! I thought I was devoured by mosquitoes and attacked by allergies. . it's salt. There is no taste of food - only pepper and salt. The food is monotonous, tomatoes and cucumbers are tasteless, sauces are mayonnaise, first courses are tolerable, albeit oversalted, chicken and fried pork undercuts. There were crabs 2 times in 11 days, the same number of times there were grilled shrimp (seafood on grilled skewers) - otherwise it is INEDIBLE, moreover, with a sick pancreas and liver - I do not advise you to take risks. Conclusion - for 11 days I ate pineapples, fruits and a sweet dessert - almost exotic, but the men were clearly homesick. Damn, they didn’t even bother to offer a variety of tea, this is Ceylon! Make a chip - different brewed tea, make a tea card! No! Gourmets have no place here. But citizens! everything pales before this marvelous nature and the beach, the ocean. The hotel - my rating - 7. Minus 2 points - food and restaurant, minus point - the entourage of my room, all the same it's a four, the furniture could be arranged better.
