We rested at the hotel in February (Join Up operator). The flight went well. It took about an hour for all the formalities at the airport. The road from the airport to the hotel took about 3 hours. They drove on the new autobahn. Everyone was immediately settled in rooms, although it was around 7 in the morning.
ROOM. If you want a good room, it's better to pay immediately De Luxe or "sea view". And those who have paid the standard are accommodated in a building overlooking the courtyard. The rooms are smaller and simpler. We had a standard. In the room: refrigerator, safe, TV (small), telephone, air conditioning, fan, kettle and tea and coffee set (replenished regularly). They also regularly bring 2 bottles of water of 0.5 liters. The bathroom has a small bar of soap and 2 sachets of shampoo. So take your shampoo/shower gel with you. Mosquitoes, mosquitoes, fleas were not noticed for 10 days.
If there are any questions about the improvement of the room, then all of them are easily resolved with the boy cleaning the room. So the number of towels easily increased from 2 to 8. Of course, he will be happy if you thank him with money or a chocolate bar. The room is cleaned daily. I was satisfied with the quality of cleaning. Towels were changed by those that we threw on the floor near the door. Bed linen changed 1 time.

FOOD. We only had breakfast. I read several reviews before leaving about terrible / spicy / salty food, and expected horror. It turned out to be quite acceptable. Spicy food is on a separate table. But even there you can find rice completely without salt and spices. For breakfast: scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon, beans in tomato, milk porridge, 5-6 types of vegetables, cheese, muesli, 3 types of pastries. Fruits - pineapples, bananas, watermelon and papaya always. But besides them, there are 3-4 more types of exotic fruits (mostly few edible, but interesting). Naturally - tea, coffee and 2 types of juices.
Neighbors said that dinners are much better than breakfasts. So, if you eat with your family, then it is better to take dinner. Because there are only two eatery cafes within walking distance. One between Pong Beach and Kogalla Beach hotels. We didn't like it much. But there are fruit juices and ice cream (and no beer). Another - if you go towards Halle (5-10 minutes) near the plane. I recommend taking dishes with rice. Huge portions. And very tasty. There is beer, but no juices. Sanitation leaves much to be desired in both establishments. In my presence, people came out only when they saw their stained tablecloths.
BEACH. Chic, sandy, deserted, very clean. But swimming is problematic because of the waves. We were not too lazy to go to the "lagoon" for the Forest. Walk 15 minutes.
THE SHOPS. Directly opposite the first cafe there is a strange building that seemed uninhabited to us. Only on the last day we found a shop of wooden souvenirs there in the farthest corner. Some items were reasonably priced. If you walk in the direction of Galle for about 20 minutes, you will actually come to the village of Kogallu. There are small shops for souvenirs, clothes, food. We went a couple of times in Galle by bus (30 rupees regular, 45 - express).
EXCURSIONS. They took it from the beach-boys on the beach. Lithium and Chintaka. Nice guys and speak Russian well. But I advise you to prepare a little and know where you want to go and what prices are. We went to the waterfalls ($20) - too expensive. Two-day Kandy-Sigiriya-Nuvar Eliya (145 dollars) and 1-day in the south (Matara-Dondra-Dikvela-Mulkirigala) - 40 dollars. You can order shrimp from beach-boys. Brought cooked. Price 800 - 1000 rupees per kg.
In general, the rest was very pleasant. Sri Lanka is not suitable for those who value super-comfort and sterile cleanliness. This country is for those who know how to appreciate such simple things as the sun, the ocean, lush vegetation and friendly, open people.
