I happened to have a rest in Sri Lanka twice, and despite this, a lot of questions arose before the trip. Therefore, upon arrival, I decided to compile a thesis manual from my impressions and information that I collected in parts:
- Long Beach Resort - a hotel on the ocean, consisting of 5 3-storey sea view buildings and 1 garden view. According to experience, in rooms remote from the reception, the quality of the wi-fi signal drops significantly. The best Wi-Fi is in the lobby bar .
- The rooms are clean enough, they clean every day, but if you need room cleaning at a certain time (for example, something has broken), you will have to repeatedly remind you of this.

- Rooms on the first floor have the advantage or disadvantage of a terrace that goes directly to the sunbeds and the ocean. On the one hand, it is convenient, on the other, there is a minimum of privacy. Plus, when checking into such a room, pay attention to the feeling of dampness. Faced with the fact that the smell of mold in some rooms is especially pronounced, do not attribute this to the proximity of the ocean and humidity, ask to be shown another room.
- For lovers of silence - pay attention to the pools and bars near them - in the evening the epicenter of noise in the hotel, and the audibility there is excellent, if you want to avoid - settle in the middle part, remote from both pools. It is also important - from the edge of the hotel, closest to the plane, there is construction-repair and periodically knock of hammers gets on the nerves.
- The ocean is now restless (however, as always, except for December). For families with small children, I recommend looking for a hotel located near the lagoon. -the lagoon at the end of the hotel complex - if you walk along the beach to the left. I personally did not like both because of the dominance of the locals and the feeling that you are splashing in a basin - but only in the lagoons it is possible to swim.
- The hotel has rather boring monotonous breakfasts, and richer themed dinners. A la carte restaurant is absolutely not recommended - expensive and just tasteless. Not far from the hotel you can eat 1) a straw kiosk on the lawn in front of the central building, shrimp + salad and fries - 500 rupees, fresh - 350-450 rupees (depending on) 2) Catalina Grill - along the beach 500 meters to the right to the plane. The staff does not know English well, the menu is large, but not always available, beer - 300 rupees (500 ml), seafood mix - 1600 rupees, noodles with seafood - 900-1200 rupees (but large portions) 3) Seafood cafe, advertised by many here, was closed all the time of my stay, so I will not comment on prices.
- Prices for fruits: brown coconuts - 35-50 rupees / piece, pineapples - 150-200 rupees (depending on size), carom - 100 rupees / 6 pcs, mango 350-400 rupees / kg, lime - 5-6 rupees / piece, passion fruit - somewhere around 350 rupees / kg, mangosteen - the most expensive, about 900-1000 rupees / kg.

- Seafood prices by weight in the markets - shrimp - 1000-1500 rupees / kg, lobster lobster - 2000-2500 rupees / kg, jumbo prawns - 1500-1800 rupees / kg (maybe there are cheaper, but I write what we took)
- Alcohol is sold in special stalls, separately from the rest of the food. Local beer - Lion Beer - 190 rupees for 0.625, Callipso rum - 1350 rupees, Arak - a little cheaper. In the hotel, the mark-up is more than 200%. which they write in official sources has never been demanded, in Sri Lanka cigarettes are expensive and have a strange taste. In addition, cigarettes are an additional bonus when settling with locals.
- for girls, feminine hygiene products are represented exclusively by pads, tampons are sold only in big cities and in hotels at exorbitant prices - in general, it is better to take everything with you.
- Excursions are offered by the operator (we went with Join-Up), you can also go with beach-boys and a tuk-tuk, it will be cheaper. My conclusion is everything where there is a large amount of information material, such as Kandy, etc. . tour operator, because because of the clumsy English and fragmentary Russian, you will hardly understand any of the stories of beach-fights. And entertaining ones are a good reason to save money, you can safely take them from the locals. , the locals are friendly and funny - it will be fun. On a tuk-tuk round-trip, with stops at the fort, supermarket, cafe (and waiting for us), we bargained for 700 rupees.
- River safari to Lake Kogalla + fishing - approx 3000 / person - boring. Departure to the ocean for dolphins and whales - 50 dollars / person - even more boring. And no one saw whales. I advise you to take these 2 excursions only if there is nothing else at all do and finances allow.
If suddenly someone has questions about the hotel, the area, etc. , I will answer what I can. Have a good rest)
