Rested in Long beach from April 24 to May 4. To begin with, the road from Kyiv to the hotel is very long and took almost a day, despite the fact that the transfer in Dubai was instant. Flying twice for five hours is tiring, and from Colombo (the capital of Sri Lanka) the bus to LB travels about three hours, plus a time difference of 2.5 hours. However, as soon as we got to LB, it immediately became clear that such a long road was worth it - a luxurious sandy beach (four kilometers), a warm ocean and almost no one around!
As for directly Long beach:

ROOM. The hotel is located in the village of Kogalle, 12 km from the rather large city of Galle. We took a deluxe room, I advise everyone - it is located on the first floor, across a small lawn right away the ocean! Swimming is just super, falling asleep to the sound of the ocean is also fabulous. The room itself is quite large. Free WiFi (works through a stump deck). Furniture made of natural wood, oldish. The air conditioner worked great.

By the way, it is very convenient that the room has a free safe. Cleaned up every day.

FOOD. We went on a breakfast-dinner system, because the supplement for dinner was very small. I can safely say that the kitchen is clearly not LB's trump card. For dinner, 80% of the food was very peppered - well, you just can’t take it in your mouth! If breakfast is normal, then dinner is just...The set of dishes, although quite wide, is almost the same every day. On the other hand, a lot of fruits and vegetables, sweets are cool. In short, if you try, you can eat normally. But at the end of the trip already tired.

From the cafe I can recommend a place ("Catalina Grill") near the plane next to the hotel - huge portions and delicious. The prawns in sweet and sour sauce were the best of the whole trip. If you walk further along the beach, there is also a good place - a reference point is a tied boat and a tattered German flag.
Average prices for establishments - a meal for two (a seafood platter with fries and salad + fresh juice) is about $20.

SURROUNDINGS AND TRAVEL.
Money should be changed at the airport, the rate is around 125 rupees for 1 dollar.

By the way, the coastal wave in the hotel is strong (because there were probably no children in the hotel). But for the first two days I just enjoyed the waves. If you swim across the coastal wave, you can swim.

Beach-boys are on duty on the beach, which provide a wide range of services. We talked with a dude in a panama hat (forgot the name) and his brother (? ) - a barefoot guy, his name is Guyan. We went on a safari with them ($40), very profitable ordered “jumbo” shrimp (1000 rupees for 10-11 pieces). However, keep your eyes open anyway - they offer to go to the spice garden or for souvenirs - do not see each other, they will bring you to where everything is really 5-10 (! ) times more expensive.
You can order alcohol from beach-boys (rum (I recommend the red Calypso), beer) - the price is the same as in the store, which is already only in the neighboring town (where you still have to go by tuk-tuk).

So I recommend going on a safari to Yala Park - very beautiful. Elephants, crocodiles, peacocks. We didn’t go to Candy, the road there is very long and tiring, and besides, none of those who were there were particularly enthusiastic.

We ourselves went to the city of Tangalle - about 2 hours by bus and you are on a huge empty beach. From there you can take a tuk-tuk and go to see Blow-hole - a rock that "howls" from the coastal wave. But it is so.

Speaking of tuk tuks.
At first they went to scout the area, and then they switched to buses - the task is of course psychologically difficult - you have to run into the bus on the go, in the cabin everyone is watching the white man and Indian music is yelling ...But the fare is 30 rupees (25 cents) and you are in Galle - for comparison on a tuk-tuk it will cost 400-500 rupees ($3-4). In general, it’s a must to go to Galle - there is a beautiful fort and fruits, as well as a supermarket where you can buy the same tea as on the plantations literally for a penny. There we met a local - what a miracle, what a good person, he organized excursions for us and showed us everything for free (he wrote down his contacts, please contact us).

If you want to take some (semi)precious stones - they are sold there at every step, but bargain until you drop - and then, after we were halved the price, it turned out to be 10-20% cheaper at the airport!
Also visit Unawatuna, the village next to the hotel - there is a lagoon, you can always safely swim. It also has a cool place Jungle Beach - a beach just like in the Bounty advertisement. But tuk-tukers go there reluctantly (there you have to go uphill) and take it relatively expensive (it cost us 800 rupees) - but it’s worth visiting, it’s very beautiful!

We were lucky with the weather - it was often cloudy and it was possible to walk not under the scorching sun. It rained a couple of times (and then at night). True, on the last day after dinner, I charged like a bucket and poured all night - they say in May the weather deteriorates a little. And so in the afternoon +30, water +27 - heavenly conditions.

TOTAL. I liked the hotel (except for the food), the location is generally super. Sri Lanka is a very beautiful country with wild nature and unique temples. If you go to calmly swim on the huge sandy beaches in the warm ocean and eat seafood with fruits, you are here.
As for the hotel, it is clear that this is not Europe, and you can take away one star from all Sri Lankan hotels. Well, Long Beach, in my opinion, is a pretty good option, I could even recommend it to friends.

I hope my review was helpful, if you have any questions, I will be happy to answer.
