Flying with Sri Lankan Airlines. To Dubai about 4 hours, fed (a cracker, which is given as an aperitif - terribly spicy! ), There refueling, crew change and further to Colombo for another 5 hours, fed again. Before Dubai, the plane was half empty, many people got off in Dubai, but after cleaning the cabin in our presence, the plane was filled to capacity with Sri Lankans returning home from work.
The TV works even during parking, so you can watch a bunch of films (there are also in Russian). By the way, there is an entry in Russian about Sri Lanka (a tour of the island) - located in the "Music" section.
At the airport, they paid for a visa ($35 per person) at a counter with a corresponding sign (they didn’t immediately figure out what to do and where to go, since the counter with visa stamping somehow doesn’t stand out), got their luggage, changed dollars and got on the bus to Trincomalee (we were alone in the minibus).
The road took about 6 hours - road repair, traffic jams.

We arrived at the hotel around 15:00 and checked in. True extra. The bed was brought not immediately, but quickly enough. The room has a safe, tea, water, milk for free, paid mini bar.
We went to the beach around 17:00 - we were alone on the beach! ! ! ! All alone! ! ! We even thought that today it is impossible to swim, but the lifeguard (they are constantly there from morning until evening) said that within the buoys there are no problems - there are strong currents further! Towels are already on the sunbeds - very comfortable, you can’t drag them anywhere!
The territory of the hotel is wonderful, clean, well-groomed, tasteful. From living creatures, shy chipmunks (I saw them 3 times), 2 deer (it's really cute) and cicadas (they ring in my ears, so this is more of a minus). There are no more animals. And I forgot, there are still toads (I think, because the rainy season), but plus or minus - for an amateur
The food is delicious, I would even say exquisite. I liked everything from breakfast and salads to lobster and nat.
cuisine (from which, of course, I almost took off because of the number of hot peppers! )
Service is beyond praise. 7 out of 5.12 out of 10. All the staff are very friendly and helpful, the waiters and administrators are nice and pleasant, all our whims and whims were fulfilled instantly (within their capabilities, of course). It is said, of course, that the hotel is young and that there were very few visitors in it. All the waiters are eagerly trying to learn Russian (it will be very useful for them when the hotel gains momentum) - I beg you, do not teach them all sorts of vulgarities and rudeness! Teach them beautiful Russian!
Entertainment - the hotel is a year old, and they still have not taken care of their infrastructure, which was very sad to find out already on the spot! The most suitable slogan for a hotel is "Alone with nature". Apart from swimming, eating, sleeping in the hotel there is nothing else to do!

This hotel is ONLY if you really don’t need to go anywhere or have already seen everything or all excursions are expected after the rest. Those who want to forget about civilization, about the hustle and bustle, about other people - you are here, just first check if the spa is open (for complete harmony). The spa was promised to open in July 2013, apparently they will not have a gift shop. Of the existing entertainment - 2 water scooters, boating, walks in the nearby jungle (a dubious event - they announce that on this walk you can meet birds, rabbits, and most importantly elephants. It's good that we still didn't meet them, t I don't really imagine our meeting with these wild giants on foot!!!
) The hotel is located in such a wilderness that you can order a taxi only at the reception - this is correspondingly more expensive (no, you can, of course, after walking 10 minutes to the main road, try to catch a tuk-tuk on the highway, but we did not dare). The reception can also arrange trips to Trincomalee, Sigiriya, airport transfers.
Wi-fi is free and in principle is, but more or less decently works only in the bar. The bungalow is constantly cut down.

Spa and Ayurveda. As already mentioned, the hotel spa has not yet opened. The nearest spa is 20 minutes by tuk-tuk to the neighboring hotel (Hotel Pigeon Island). There is one massage therapist. The next spa is already in Trincomalee (30 minutes by tuk-tuk) near the Sea Lotus Park Hotel. Salonchik hold husband and wife (masseurs, respectively, 2)! The prices for both spas are the same. A note to those accustomed to fancy spas - you won't like it there.

Tours.
We hired a tuk-tuk and for 4 thousand rupees and 1 hour there and back, the driver gave us a small impromptu excursion: he showed us hot springs near Trincomalé (Kania, it seems), the Hintu temple, a supermarket for buying tea (the main point of our trip) and on the way back another temple along the way.
Then we hired a car at the hotel and for 15 thousand rupees we went to Sigiriya on a rock (the eighth wonder of the world), and to an eco park (3 hours one way). On the way to the eco park (elephant safari) we stopped at the spice garden - it's time to kill, so to speak, because it's better to go on a safari either early in the morning or after 4 o'clock in the afternoon. They killed not only time, but also a lot of money, they sell not only spices, but also various creams, oils from everything for a very expensive price! ! ! !
Already on the spot, at the hotel, we had to change the program and we left the hotel a day earlier in order to still get at least some tea plantation.

Leaving at 7 am, by lunchtime we reached Kandy, where we visited one of the tea factories, a jewelry store, and only by 8 pm were in Colombo, at the hotel.
At the airport, we changed the money back (the exchange rate at the exit from the country, of course, is slightly worse than at the entrance, although we may have been so "lucky"), we went through customs (they wrote that screening of everyone is mandatory, but our suitcases were driven only along the tape), packed our bags and went to have breakfast in the duty free zone. There, of course, all the same teas, elephants, Buddhas, drags. stones and fabrics. I compared prices for tea (we bought it in a supermarket), of course, it is more expensive in a dutik (an iron can of 400 g in a supermarket is 200 rupees cheaper). I did not compare with factory prices.

The host party (Connaissance de Sri-Lanka) is located in Colombo, so there is no sense from them - either they need to call all the time (and she does not answer - which was in my case), or write (site in English and French), or do it all by yourself...
Vera (representative) called us to the room as soon as we arrived (that is, we still didn’t understand anything at all), wished us a good rest and disappeared. Literally 3 hours later, when we found out that there was no Spa in the hotel, I started calling her and was able to get through only after a while (I understand that it was not urgent, but Vera doesn’t know this ! ! And if I was at that moment already in the police and tried to get through to her to get me out! ). when I asked her to organize a tour for us, she told me that it was inconvenient for them to drive a driver from Colombo, and it would be more expensive for us than “just to find out at the hotel what they have”. To the objection “we need a tour in Russian”, Vera replied “yes, why do you need it? You speak English! » In general, I absolutely did not like the attitude of the host towards us!
