Immediately for the incredulous, I’ll start by clarifying that I rest a lot, often and in different places! Always only in 5* hotels. Therefore, I hope I can evaluate everything honestly and objectively.
Blue Water is a 5 * hotel, not 4, as stated on this site...
We went to Blue Water in a big company, I did not participate in choosing a hotel - I relied on the opinion of friends, although my friendly travel agency insisted on a different choice : ). UIA and Etikhat flew - everything was fine, and, most importantly, our worries about a very short connection (about an hour) were in vain, everything was clear, on time and even the luggage flew... : ) I would like to think that such coherence and punctuality these airlines are a pattern, not our luck.

We were met by a guide at the Colombo airport, we changed money, bought local telephone SIM cards there (mobile communications are sooooo cheap there, they called home almost every day without limiting themselves in time. True, along with this cheapness, it is also just as disgusting - at best, you can hear it through a word... )... we drove to the hotel for two hours, and arrived at 7 in the morning - they didn’t give us a room right away, we waited until 10 hours until there were free ones - the hotel was really crowded. But as the release and quick cleaning, settled immediately.
HOTEL. Do not expect Turkish chic and show off from the Sri Lankan fives - a minimum of landscape design, no figured abstruse pools, bridges, hills, etc. , simple rooms, a calm interior, but..... wonderful birds walk around the territory (similar to very small herons), chipmunks run, palm trees block the sun.
The rooms are a little dated, ALL have an ocean view, the ones on the ground floor have their own pool access - that has its charm, but keep in mind that if you live on the ground floor, leaving the balcony open is not that much of a problem, but you can wake up in bed with a chipmunk, which is at least unpleasant. . . : ) But these guys are very arrogant there, roaming around the balconies, eating sweets forgotten on the tables, they are absolutely not shy about visiting rooms, in case of an open balcony. . . : )
Another wonderful living creature of the hotel is the crows. . . If the chipmunks cause sweet tenderness, then the crows after a while begin to strain. In addition to crap (sorry for the detail) sunbeds, they can still present some surprises - for example, steal something shiny....And as soon as you decide to have a bite on the beach, these black birds will walk around in a flock, pretending they accidentally came out on the promenade, and at the first opportunity, waiting for you to be distracted, they will certainly steal potatoes, a sandwich or some bag of portioned ketchup from you....: )))
OCEAN. It's just a fairy tale - warm, strong, noisy! You can look at it for hours and want to hear it around the clock! But swimming is hard! The waves are very strong, and even with its relative calm, it will surely cover you a couple of times with your head and, quite possibly, knock you off your feet near the shore...

NUTRITION. The food was delicious, the breakfasts were a little monotonous, but lunches and dinners were pleasing....a couple of times we were spoiled with lobsters, constantly shrimp and crabs, a good selection of fruits... Every day they had different themed dinners - I liked it.
There is a bar on the beach where you can order snacks, french fries, ice cream. . Friends who previously vacationed in Sri Lanka in Taj Exotic noted that food is more interesting in Blue Water. And yet, as for me, it will not be superfluous to take All - fresh juices, coconuts, beer, cocktails, good wine - all this is quite expensive in a hotel, and therefore the All Inclusive system fully justifies itself.
ENTERTAINMENT. No....: ))) You have to entertain yourself. In the evening live music is played to which the German and English audience dances. . . : ) This very audience in the hotel is mostly of retirement age and there are very few citizens of post-Soviet states. . .
EXCURSIONS. I have only been to Kandy. We bought a tour from a boy on a beach named Mali. It was not a random choice - Mali was advised to us by our compatriot tourists who returned from Blue Water a couple of weeks before our departure there. You can safely be friends with Mali, he organizes very high-quality excursions (although he has a problem only with English-speaking guides with Russian guides), for him a tourist is always right, he will carry and show everything you want....It's true that the souvenir shops that he brings to, frankly, are a little expensive, but this is not the main thing, as for me. In addition, Mali has its own tuk-tuk, so Mali also organized all the movements to shops and restaurants in the vicinity of the hotel.
ROADS. This is a different story. Almost all of their "tracks" are one-sided and of disgusting quality. Because there is an eternal traffic jam, and the abundance of tuk-tuks also contributes to this. We drove from Kandy to the hotel for more than four hours (and there it’s only not much more than a hundred kilometers).

My conclusion is this: the country is wonderful, there is something to see, it’s worth going... But you just don’t need to rely on movement and entertainment, because you should choose the company for such a trip carefully... let’s say there’s nothing to do there together with a girlfriend... Don’t expect super high service and please all your whims, of course, the Sri Lankans are trying, but tourism there is not yet sufficiently developed. The people there are good and friendly, it’s useless to swear and stomp your feet about and without reason, no one will be rude to you and will not say anything, but their desire to help will disappear completely....Whereas they reciprocate a kind and good attitude and will themselves offer you everything in their power.
The hotel, of course, is not a VIP, one might even say, in some moments it is weak, but it is quite suitable for living and relaxing. The food at the hotel is top notch. And I repeat again - you should not expect the development of tourism from Sri Lanka... this is not Turkey or even Egypt, everything is easier there!
As for me, I would love to visit this country again, and perhaps even the same hotel... therefore, if I have the appropriate company and the opportunity, I will repeat the trip to Sri Lanka, I will try to see and visit more next time.
