Monaco for me is, first of all, the Formula 1 Grand Prix. These are interviews with pilots, their free time, their yachts, hotels, helicopters ...this is a mass of celebrities in one place, these are beautiful faces, scandals, stories (German commentators love chat on this topic) and so on and so forth, and of course the race itself. I am a fan with 25 years of experience, my favorite team is Ferrari, and my favorite racers are Gerhard Berger, Rubens Barrichello, Felipe Massa, Fernando Alonzo, and of course Michael Schumacher. For me, all this is inseparably connected with Monaco. But despite all my love for Formula 1, we didn’t want to be there during it at all. Therefore, it was decided to go after. And on the penultimate day, sunbathing in the morning on the sea, we went to Monaco by car. Well, the road along the sea is beautiful, what panoramic views, to be sure, as well as everywhere on the coast.

When crossing the border, our navigator literally turned white and stopped working. This sometimes happens when you move from one country to another, but this is not the case here, you didn’t want to work and that’s it. It became clear that this principality was not included in our program either. Last year it was exactly the same when we were looking for Liechtenstein, but then it was easier, we found it by the signs, and there was no need to go anywhere else. And Monaco will still be bigger. Somehow, it immediately became a little uncomfortable, as if we were driving blindly. But what to do, you have to go somewhere. As soon as we drove in, the following struck immediately: a large number of policemen, on every corner ...street repairs, everything was blocked off ...a lot of metal structures, both stacked and not yet dismantled, stands for spectators, iron fences ...just now the past race was felt at every turn.

I approached him with my piece of paper and the name of the garden, asked how to get there and if he spoke German by chance, no, he didn’t. He began to explain to us how to get there, well, we immediately “understood” everything. We quickly drove away from sin, until the fine was drawn. Again we see this pointer, we go again, again we turned the wrong way, again we lost sight of ...

Ride more! They didn’t go out anywhere, although they saw closed parking lots, that is, there was where to attach the car, but again the question arose, how far is this or that parking lot from any attraction? In a word, a complete failure. We saw a saving pointer to Nice and forward. It's a shame that we didn't see anything, precious time wasted. After that, I made a vow to myself: check the navigator before each trip ! ! !

The next, which is also the last day on the Cote d'Azur, we went back to Monaco, but by train.

Everything somehow did not go well with this principality. Now bus number 8 did not go along its route, that is, not along the English Embankment, but along another street, it was necessary to figure out where to get off in order to transfer to the tram to the station. Well, we asked the driver in time where we should get off, otherwise we could have gone for a ride ...There were very few people at the tram stop and the trams did not go anywhere. Just then, an employee in the special came up to us. form, began to explain something and point with his hand somewhere. Where he pointed, there were buses and they transported everyone free of charge along the tram routes. Finally, we got to the station (those who always travel by public transport are just heroes. The loss of time here and there, although not great, but if you sum them all together, perhaps hours will run up).

Tickets in the machine were bought quickly, somehow it was not difficult, but it was somehow problematic to validate them.

I inserted them one side and the other, and one end and the other, and still there were no marks on them. So with not broken tickets, we went to Monaco, by the way, when we went from there, it was the same story.

And now I know how it should have been done correctly: on a neighboring forum they suggested / taught:

“Since the slot of the validator is designed for a ticket that is bought at the box office, and it is almost twice as wide as a ticket bought from a vending machine, the machine ticket should not be inserted in the middle of the slot, but closer to its edge. ”

It’s not as pleasant to travel by train as by car, there are a lot of people, many are standing, you can’t see anything.

When we arrived, the first thing we did was go to the port, but there, like yesterday, there were metal barriers all around, stands ...it was somehow uncomfortable and we didn’t see any unusual yachts either.

And then we went up to the oceanographic museum in Monaco Ville.

On the square, next to the Museum stop the bus Monaco Le grand Tour and train.

Of course we took the bus. The ticket costs 18.00 euros/person. /for 1 day or 21.00 EUR/person /2 days. And for discount coupons that are given in the info. center in Nice - then minus 1.00 euros / person.

We got off at the Bateau Bus - Boot stop, boarded a boat that took us to the other side of the port, there is nothing special about this walk.

We walked around the port on the other side, got on another bus of the same type and drove to Monte Carlo.

Tourists around - darkness, it is impossible to photograph anything, someone will definitely be in the frame. We went to the casino.

We decided to check if they would let us in in sandals and sneakers...they let us in, only they sent us to the left to hand over all photographic equipment and other things to the storage room. We twirled in the lobby, we didn't go inside. We do not go to the casino often, but going there should be like a small holiday, usually we gather with a company, the appropriate atmosphere, clothes, mood ...the evening is usually pleasant, there is no need to rush anywhere ...And what is here?

When you think that you need to be there in time, see this and that, etc. In a word, don’t go, somehow next time. We walked around the Casino on the other side, admired the views of the sea ...

Nearby there is a beautiful square, hotels, hotels, hotels ...souvenir shop, nothing special, but the prices are hoo. There are a lot of cafes nearby, where you can have a bite to eat. We walked and got back on the bus.

The next stop we got off at was Place du Palais in Monaco-Ville. We visited the Prince's Palace: the throne room with the throne of the princes and a huge picture / portrait of their family, the blue and gold halls of Louis the 15th, the residence where official receptions are held ...we took an audio guide in German, first you are greeted by Prince Albert II himself, well and then everything else. Just to think that all these halls are inhabited to this day, not bad, however. Not to say that the palace is super chic, both outside and inside, but since we were in this place, then for the sake of simple interest, it was worth a look. The entrance ticket costs 8.

00 euros, probably due to bad weather, there was no queue for tickets.

Around the square there are many small restaurants, cafes, shops and large crowds of tourists.

Walking through the narrow streets we reached the Cathedral of St. Nicholas. ( Monaco St Nicholas Kathedrale ) Not particularly large, not particularly luxurious, the burial place of the legendary Princess Grace Kelly.

The weather turned bad, it began to rain, we got on the bus and went to the station. Somehow, we are not particularly enthusiastic about this principality, either because we didn’t see almost anything, or the weather was bad, or the expectations were too high, or by the end of the trip we already got so many impressions that Monaco was properly and did not perceive.

Well, that's all, the trip along the coast of France has ended. Now I will write a little about different little things.

1. Roads, drivers and traffic rules

After Germany, it was just a nightmare at first, then they got used to it.

The best ones liked the trips along the serpentines, dear Napoleon, through the Alps ...no traffic lights, no scooters, no pedestrians, no traffic jams, you ride in splendid isolation - beauty!

2. Security

Here everything somehow worked out well for us, they didn’t rob, they didn’t get into the car ...the Germans especially wrote a lot of fears about the Verdon Canyon. When we were there, we did not notice anything suspicious. In general, the car was left everywhere, both in paid parking lots and in free ones, but how could it be otherwise? In the cabin, of course, nothing was left, except for umbrellas and bottles of water. Also on foot walks, in restaurants ...no one encroached on our bags. Everything went well.

And in conclusion there will be one more little review about Lugano.

I wish you all pleasant travels!
