I'm going to visit Malta + Sicily in the summer. Sicily is understandable, it is love forever, I probably will not get rid of it. But Malta is interesting. I was on an excursion to Malta a few years ago, spent a day on this island, and all my hands (feet? ) did not reach it again - and longer, longer! Seriously, I didn’t just like Malta, but I liked it VERY strongly. Firstly, I was almost touched by the compactness, which at the same time does not turn into tightness. I don’t remember in Malta such an urban “anthill” that would swarm around, but the narrow streets flooded with midday sun, on each of which you feel the salty smell of the sea, I remember perfectly. Secondly, I remember what an indescribable buzz I caught, getting out at least for a day to a place where they understand you. The Maltese, unlike the inhabitants of Sicily, speak English. Given that I don’t always succeed in speaking Italian with Sicilians even now, I think that Malta will please me this time as well with the absence of a language barrier. Well, or at least a smaller one. . Thirdly (but not least, yes, yes), Malta is somehow incredibly beautiful. During a free walk around Valletta, I remember, I caught myself thinking that this is the part of the globe where I would like to stay not for an hour or two, but preferably for a couple of decades. The bright sun, seen at the end of a straight line like an arrow of a narrow street, the bright blue sea, the yellow stone of the walls and the cobblestone pavement around, and the noise of passers-by and rare cars barely audible from the street - all this beckons to stay. We were also then in the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist (if I don’t confuse anything), but the impressions of it, alas, were overshadowed by the delight that Malta plunged me into by itself, regardless of its sights. Of these, I remember most vividly only the view from the fortress wall of Mdina, from which it captures the breath no less than from the streets of Valletta. All in all, definitely a must go back. This time I really want to go to the museum with wax figures in Gozo and take a proper walk around the island - just a week is enough to settle down there completely.
