The Dolmen Hotel is located on the shores of St. Paul's Bay and occupies a large area, the decoration of which is a garden with a partially preserved ancient temple from the Neolithic era. The excellent location, multi-tiered terraces and gardens, a large private beach and the opportunity to practice various water sports make the hotel a popular tourist complex.More →

The hotel has its own beach, although the descent into the water immediately to the depth. It was stormy for 2 days, it was forbidden to swim, we swam in the pools or went to the other side of the Aura. Bus parking nearby. The room was cleaned every day. The hotel has a good cafe and restaurant, often had lunch and dinner there.

IF YOU ARE PLANNING A TRIP TO MALTA AS A BEACH HOLIDAY, YOU WON'T GET ANYTHING IF YOU ARE CURRIOUS AND LEAD AN ACTIVE LIFESTYLE IN MALTA! IN "DOLMENA" WITH THE BEACH EVERYTHING "OKAY": PLENTY OF SPACE, LOUNGE-LOCKERS WILL ALWAYS BE SUPPLIED ON THE FIRST REQUEST. ON THE MAIN TERRITORY - 2 POOLS, ON THE BEACH TERRITORY - ANOTHER - 2: "FROGSHATNITK" FOR VERY SMALL AND ORDINARY - FOR ADULTS WHO ARE LADY TO DOWN FROM THE SECOND LEVEL OF THE BEACH TO THE FIRST TO SWIMM IN THE SEA. … More ▾ IF YOU ARE PLANNING A TRIP TO MALTA AS A BEACH HOLIDAY, YOU WON'T GET ANYTHING IF YOU ARE CURRIOUS AND LEAD AN ACTIVE LIFESTYLE IN MALTA! DESCENT TO THE SEA-FROM THE LADDER, YOU BEACH-NATURAL STONE PLATFORM. (After all, MALTA IS A STONEY ISLAND FORMED BY SEDIMENTARY ROCKS WHICH RISE FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA AS A RESULT OF TECTONIC PHENOMENA THAT OCCURRED IN THE EARTH) HOTEL OF THE EUROPEAN TYPE. BREAKFAST-BY THE EUROPEAN TYPE: FRIED BACON, SAUSAGES, FRIED TOMATOES, BEANS IN TOMATOES, BUT PLUS FRIED POTATOES AND, OF COURSE, THE SAME "fried eggs", OMELETTE. FOR THOSE WHO LOVE ANY MUESLI OR FLAKES FILLED WITH MILK - ALL OF THIS IS PRESENT HERE. MEAN EUROPEAN CUTTED CHEESE AND SAUSAGES, VEGETABLES: TOMATOES, CUCUMBERS, CABBAGE, BOTH FRESH AND BOILED. GOOD BAKERY AND ESPECIALLY BAKERY PRODUCTS, TOASTS. YOGURTS, JUICE (ORANGE, PINEAPPLE). raisins, dried apricots, watermelon, pears and APPLES. OF COURSE, NOT TURKEY, BUT NOT LONDON! I CONSCIOUSLY DID NOT BUY A TOUR WITH LUNCH AND DINNER, BUT, ALL THIS CAN BE BUYED ON THE PLACE. FOR DINNERS, FOR EXAMPLE, YOU CAN BUY 3 DINNERS FOR 11 EURO (TOTAL 33) AND DINNER ON ANY DAY OF YOUR STAY. YOU CAN'T BUY LESS THAN 3, AND YOU WANT MORE. IF YOU HAVE PAYED ADDITIONALLY FOR THE SEA VIEW IN YOUR TRAVEL AGENT (I AM 8 EURO PER DAY), THEN YOU SHOULD KNOW THAT HERE IS ALL THE ROOMS FACING THE SEA SIDE, BUT ONLY STARTING FROM THE 3rd FLOOR IS THE SEA CAN BE SEEN. THE SEA VIEW ON THE FLOORS BELOW SHUT OFF THE VENTILATION AND THE AIR CONDITIONERS WHICH ARE NOISY. YOU NEED TO KNOW ENGLISH AT THE LEVEL OF HOUSEHOLD COMMUNICATION. THERE WAS NO RUSSIAN SPEAKING STAFF DURING MY STAY. A PROBLEM WITH THE SEA VIEW AND THE WORK OF THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS. THE HOTEL IS CLEAN AND CLEANED QUALITATIVELY. I PREFERRED TO DEVOTE MY PREVIOUSLY PLANNED BEACH HOLIDAY IN MALTA TO THE EXCURSION AND I HAVE NO REGRETS. I WILL BE GLAD TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS, AS I BELIEVE THAT I HAVE STUDYED MALTA FROM DIFFERENT PARTIES IN 2 WEEKS. I WANT TO IMMEDIATELY GUIDE THOSE WHO GO TO MALTA FOR THE FIRST TIME: YOU ARE GOING TO A CIVILIZED EUROPEAN COUNTRY WITH A RICH HISTORY, CULTURE AND A HIGH STANDARD OF LIVING. HERE 98% OF THE POPULATION COMMUNICATE FLUENTLY IN EXCEPT MALTESE IN ENGLISH, 70% ALSO PLUS ITALIAN. GOOD SHOPPING HERE, AS IN ENGLAND. TAKE MONEY FOR GLASS PRODUCTS - THIS IS A REAL "CHIP" (IT IS VERY HEAVY, SO DO NOT TAKE EXTRA THINGS! ) WISH YOU GOOD LUCK!

I had a rest in July 2008. A wonderful hotel, friendly reception, the infrastructure of the hotel itself is probably one of the best in Malta (we traveled a lot in Malta and Gozo (we also lived in a 4-star hotel in Gozo for 2 days) and had the opportunity to compare. Very the beach is well done, sunbeds, umbrellas, towels for sunbeds are free (you can change towels as many times a day as you like) . . As for changing towels, they change the same as in the whole world : -))) i. e. in the bathroom there is a standard sign about protecting the environment and the environment, etc. and if you want to change towels, just throw them on the floor. . . if not and you can continue to use - hang up. The hotel has an excellent spa, as for the gym, everything is in order, it's just small. . . My husband went there several times to study, did not notice anything bad. . . The hotel has 5 swimming pools: one indoor in the spa, 2 near the hotel itself (chlorinated), one on the beach is large with salt water and another one with salt water for children is very small. . . In general, I am not a fan of swimming pools while relaxing at sea, because. I think that you can swim at home in the pool, and the sea is the sea, but for Malta, the existence of a pool in a hotel is important, because for example, during our stay one day there were big waves and it was forbidden to swim, in general people were swimming, but, given the peculiarities of the stone shore, one could easily break and get badly injured. . . and here the salt water pool was very handy. . . The hotel is also very well located - right on the waterfront, close to the center 5-7 minutes), but, on the other hand, far enough to avoid the noise of the evening promenades : -)) Also, a 5-minute walk from the hotel there is a bus station from where you can go anywhere in Malta, several souvenir shops, a supermarket. . . The disco is made on the beach, so the noise from it does not reach the hotel. . . We liked very much to go to the wine bar in the evening, where they offered a wonderful selection of drinks and musicians who played and sang good quality music. . . I also really liked the grill restaurant on the beach, it is somewhat more expensive than other similar establishments, but in the evening it was very pleasant to drink wine with seafood or fresh fish on the grill under the sunset. . . Those vacationers who did not speak English could contact the Russian girl at the reception - Dina, she is from St. Petersburg. Those who turned to her for any questions were very pleased. In general, you can still write a lot, but personally we were satisfied with the rest! But in general, I think that it all depends on the mood you are going in, you can get a lot of pleasure while relaxing in a 2-star hotel, or you can suffer in the top five for the whole holiday if you try to find only negative sides!

I will not specifically describe popular tourist places, since a lot has already been said about them in guidebooks and in reports. This report is a cheat sheet about my own experiences and some practical advice for those who decide to spend time in this hotel.

1. HOTEL.
The hotel was chosen according to several criteria and upon arrival it turned out that the choice was made quite right. Excellent combination of price and quality. I didn’t want loud discos, bars and other noisy entertainment, because, firstly, there are enough of them in Moscow, and then Malta is not the place where you need to waste time so mediocre. The hotel is large only by Maltese standards and relatively green. A lot of elderly Germans and British. Russian percent 10. First, we were given an average DBL overlooking the street and next to the roaring air conditioners.
From the expression on my wife's face, I realized that this option does not smile at us and asked a pretty Russian girl Dina at the reception to find us a new option. Having entered the bathroom, I was sincerely glad, because opening a certain window there, you find yourself exactly in a certain ventilation and communication box, where you can see the window of the neighboring bathroom opposite  . Separately, you need to take the remote control from the TV, and at first we were given a remote control from the TV of a different brand and it did not work. We must have been very lucky, but the next day we were on the newly built floor in a huge room 617 with a gorgeous sea view at no extra charge. We arrived with a married couple and all four of us lived in a room in different double rooms and used 2 different bathrooms. In general, it resembles an apartment without a kitchen, linen and towels were changed in the room every day, there was a kettle and tea-coffee-cream-sugar (a trifle, but nice).
The safe in our room was free with an electronic lock, and in other rooms for money - payment on departure. I highly recommend the restaurant on the seafront at the hotel - you can have an extremely tasty lunch there, the prices are the same as on the beach in the city. There is a disco Amazonia, but we have never been there. There is also a pretentious Temple bar, but this is for old people, but with live music. There are ruins of a megalith on the territory, perhaps really authentic - it's hard to check  . Beautiful lighting in the evening! There is a spa at a killer price. Although who cares…there are also hot tubs! For free! Recommend! Further, upon arrival, ask for cards for towels! They are free, but for some reason they are not given right away. They must be returned upon departure.

2. CURRENCY.
A good exchanger at the hotel at the reception, there is opposite the bus station. The course is about the same - for a hundred euros they give 40-something lire.
As it turned out later, the rate at the airport is a little higher - it is better to change it immediately upon arrival, despite the recommendations of the guides. In general, there are no problems with the exchange - there are a lot of exchange points, especially Bank of Valetta or HSBC.

3. GOZO.
Basically did not take excursions and did not regret it. For a trip to Gozo, we rented a car, which I will discuss separately below. Early in the morning we arrived in Chirkevva at the ferry pier, paying directly at the barrier - 6 lira for the carrier - the car and 2 from the nose for passengers. You go on the ferry (for me personally, a new feeling - I have never sailed on ferries before) - you are carefully directed, you close the car, go up to the deck and exactly 20 minutes on the way and leave already in Mjarre on Gozo. We immediately went through Victoria to look at the Lazunoe Window. Worth it for sure. Keep in mind - there is very much eroded soil, like on Mars, with very sharp edges, you need to carefully look at your feet and it is advisable not to wear slippers!
We saw a terrible sight - one old Austrian stared into the camera, stumbled, fell with his face right on these sharp stones. The result - a face covered in blood, a broken nose and a laceration on the forehead measuring 6x3 cm. The ambulance arrived promptly - in 15 minutes. Immediately everyone remembered the medical insurance left at the hotel - you should always carry it with you! Anyway. Who cares - from the inland sea they carry boats under the arch, we did not go, because there was little time. Temples of Gzhantiya. I don’t know about the Guinness Book of Records as almost the oldest building, but immediately wondered about the temples of Luxor and their age of 9000 BC. e. Imagine a pile of ancient stones, sometimes just huge, folded into a certain structure. Actually everything  . There is an impression, but not as great as expected. The capital is Victoria and above all the citadel. Worth a look. Great view - the island is in the palm of your hand! Photo with guns. Church of the Ascension of St. Mary.
Reminiscent of St. John in Valletta, only in a simpler way. Statue of Mary with diamond necklace, gold belt on a silver pedestal. There are also a couple of temples, but that's all of the most interesting. We decided not to watch anything else in order to return home before dark. On the way to the port, we got a little lost - you need to be careful at the forks. A little about souvenirs. Not far from the Dolmen there is a shop on the embankment under the sign "Mongolian ... ". It's very large and has a great selection.

4. RENT A CAR. ROADS.
We took in HERZ right next to the hotel. And not by accident. Information has been received that if you take a car anywhere, they always require a credit card, or rather its number, and a signature on the check without indicating the amount! Allegedly for insurance in case of an accident, but at the same time, any amount may appear there upon your departure! And you won't get her back. We did not want to take risks, and we took the Opel Astra with all possible insurances. It turned out 38 lire for a day with 2 declared drivers.
Not a lot. But is it worth the risk? The right steering wheel is still the same song, but you get used to it quickly, as well as to left-hand traffic. Extremely inconvenient are the constant interchanges of roads with roundabouts - you have to give way to the one who is on the circle, often the quality of the coating is not so hot. The road network is extensive, there are very few parking lots - especially in Sliema and Valletta, so I don’t recommend driving there by car. There are heavy fines for illegal parking.

5. DIVING AND THE SEA.
Abbys club at the hotel was top notch. Alexey works on the beach. Special thanks to him. Took 1 day due to limited time. We dived in Chirkevva near the port. Locations - Madonna and patrol ship A125 at a depth of 33m. Many thanks to instructor Andrey! Really impressive. Malta is a place different from others in terms of the underwater world, because there are a lot of wrecks and huge stones, grottoes, caves. There are few fish - this is not the Red Sea. In the photo, I really liked the sites on Gozo - but unfortunately they didn’t get there.
As for the beaches. The beach was ennobled at the hotel - a concrete slab with a ladder into the sea, in others there is no such and such a beach, only stones. We were close to the sandy beach of Meliha Bay, realizing that the Blue Lagoon on Comino is about the same and did not go there. Small, a lot of people, the water is so-so, dirty.

6. WHERE DID YOU GO IN MALTA.
Valetta is a must. Right in the morning on the bus to Sliema - the good thing is that the final stop is 2 steps away. The host of SMS-Travel presented a free cruise to three cities on the boat Captain Morgan - I highly recommend it! Beautiful! You need to take places on the right side on the upper deck - the view is what you need! I was impressed by the Chinese dock No. 6 and cranes with a lifting capacity of 150 tons, and the number of medieval forts! After the walk, we moved to Valletta by bus, although it is also possible on a green boat with the inscription Levenbrau. They are taken to the center to the Triton Square. From there the street begins. Republic. Further itinerary according to the guide.
It is worth trying fish in batter like "Mahi-Mahi Piri-Piri" (restaurant on the beach in Dolmen). Buffet in a restaurant in Dolmen. Well, let's just say it could have been better. In the sense that they feed quite well, but for example there are few vegetables, there is a choice of fish and meat, but meager. However, you feel full! Drinks at dinner for money. Local red wine is very even! Near the hotel there is a shop with drinks - I highly recommend the wine! But Cisco beer is basically nothing, but our Melnik is even better. Fontana mineral water can be bought immediately in a package of 6 bottles in the same shop - the price is humane. The famous soda Kinney is an amateur thing, but you need to try it once.

8. ARRIVAL - DEPARTURE, TRANSFER, AIRPORTS.
Our flight was very early - 8 am. This is a flight returning from S-2, which has just arrived from Malta. They flew there on a Boeing not the first freshness.
In general, AIR Malta did not leave the best impression, such as our Aeroflot, "cheap and cheerful", especially the food. Upon arrival - a small drive, where you immediately need to see your host. We didn't find it right away. We filled out a questionnaire, the border guards took away passports for visa stamping (the guide later gave it to the hotel). Laughter and sin - a Schengen-type visa, where all the information is written by hand  . For the first time in my life I see such an exotic! On the way to the luggage there is a small duty-free shop where you can stock up on something. The transfer to the hotel by minibus took about 30 minutes. About back. We had a flight at 1:45 am. We were picked up from the hotel at 23.15. A sad elderly driver arrived, said that he had no idea who to pick up, but showed a piece of paper with our names and responded to the word “airport”  . Loaded. As it turned out later, we were the last to be brought to check-in (but we were the first to receive our luggage at Domodedovo), because
after we went to Sliema and Pachville to 2 hotels to pick up the rest. What is Pachiville at night! ! Horror. We were glad we didn't live there. At 23-20, young people are like ...behind a bathhouse (sorry), garbage everywhere, music, in short Pattaya on Walking street (who knows - will understand). Check-in is fast despite the queue. We unloaded the unfinished water in a 1.5l container and here it is - Duty Free, where we sincerely wanted to stock up on cactus liquor and cheap gin. Yeah. Right now. Almost everything is closed! From alcohol, only a small shop with wine and coffee is open. Advice to those who fly at night - buy everything in advance! Well, there is also a cosmetics shop. We swallowed a sandwich in a cafe and went to land. Again, not cool. Delay for half an hour, although we landed in Moscow at exactly 8.00. Dreary misty morning sky. Almost rain. The road from Domodedovo is half asleep. An accident with 3 cars swept past at a speed of 120 km / h. We returned.
I bow out. There are questions - ask. Alexander.

Excellent European 4*. I advise you to take only breakfasts, because dinners and lunches, according to reviews, are very monotonous. In addition, there are many restaurants near the hotel, of various kinds, there is even a McDonald's. Eating for two costs up to 20 Euros (although of course who eats how), the portions are such that taking one, you can eat two to satiety. You can, for starters, just watch what portions they bring - and then decide for yourself. This hotel has its own beach - which is almost unique for Malta, sunbeds and umbrellas are free. Entrance to the sea - as in the pool, down the stairs, and immediately deep. So those who can not swim - it will be bad. The hotel has everything you need - air conditioning, hair dryer, etc. paraphernalia, everything is in good and working condition, clean and tidy. Near the hotel there is a bus station, buses run frequently and anywhere in Malta. Each bus is very interesting, we definitely don’t have such ones. We traveled all over Malta on buses, it is very interesting, and besides, it is cheap. The distances there are not large, the longest crossing is 40 km. In general, Malta is a country worth seeing, and during these shows, the New Dolmen Hotel will only pleasantly surprise you.
