At the RIU CARIBE hotel in Cancun, we rested together with my husband for 10 days from February 8 to February 18. The trip was completely prepared by ourselves. On www. hotels. com booked a hotel. It turned out to be much cheaper. Flying with Delta via New York. Since America does not even provide visa-free transit, we made an American visa, and on the way back from Cancun we spent 5 days in New York.
In Moscow, before departure, a taxi was ordered a couple of weeks before the flight - a transfer to the hotel on the Mexican website www. cancun-airport. com (transfer to our hotel - $45,
from Cancun airport to the Riu Caribe hotel to go 20-30 minutes).

We liked the RIU CARIBE hotel. The food is just great! All inclusive justified itself! ! ! A lot, high quality, varied, tasty, neat, plus - good service.

The hotel is part of the RIU chain, which has 3 hotels in Cancun. (Those who live in RIU CARIBE can use the services of the RIU CANCUN hotel, which belongs to the same network. We went to it, walked - about an hour on foot. It is steeper and more expensive, but they say that the beach is smaller and worse.
Maybe, but the hotel itself is better).
RIU CARIBE is pretty worn and shabby, but it’s quite drawn to the four. The side rooms (from the ends of the building) have been recently renovated, they are clean and even beautiful. We were first settled there, but did not like the view from the window - a shabby lawn, Nechupte Bay, and a small, side "piece" of the sea.
At our insistent request, we were moved to a room with a sea view.
The view from the window was super, but the quality of the room decoration was noticeably different from the side room: the furniture is old, the walls are in anticipation of renovation, like “old school”. (All rooms with a frontal sea view have not been renovated for a long time).
The beach of the hotel is good! Even more. There are no waves, there are a lot of sunbeds, you don’t need to borrow anything. Sometimes there are algae near the shore, but they do not interfere with swimming, and they are removed every couple of days. Good bars, alcohol - "whatever you want". Well prepared cocktails.
We rented a car at the hotel for 3 days - Nissan Tilda - $ 78 per day with full insurance.
On the first day we went to Chichen Itza. I liked it very much! We did not even expect such an impression. On the 2nd day we were in Xcaret park. There are quite expensive tickets - $ 89 per person. On the 3rd day we went to Tulum. There on the seashore are the remains of an ancient Mayan city with a pyramid (smaller than in Chichen Itza). Beautiful place. Tickets are cheap - 5 pesos per person.
Currency exchange in the city, in shopping centers: Pesos are changed at 12.5 pesos for 1 dollar. To exchange, you must have a passport with you. When we were at the hotel, there was no currency exchange, but on the last day of our stay, there seemed to be a sign about the exchange rate at the reception.

Shops that you can go to yourself: Walmart (like Auchan) - I liked it, a huge supermarket - take a bus from the hotel for about 20 minutes, there is a stop at the hotel, bus R2, R27.
Las Americas Plaza - it has 2 good Nike departments, turned out to be no worse than in New York a week later (same models and same prices!
), and a huge network department like our Stockman in Mega (I don’t remember the name) - it turned out to be high-quality and inexpensive clothes (better than in New York) - the same stop, R27 bus, or a taxi (it costs something like 7-9 dollars).
In the middle of the long part of the "seven" (Hotelier zone) there is a large La Isla store - also not bad, we went to it ourselves by car, it has a circular multi-storey parking at its end, there are always places.
Hotel Riu Caribe, Cancun, and Mexico we liked. Have a nice rest!
