But, for 10 years now, my family and I have been celebrating Christmas in Zakopane. This despite the fact that we were in the ski resorts of Slovakia, Austria, Finland and of course in our native Carpathians. Yes, and in Poland, I was still in Szczyrk and Krinitsy. I won’t say that it’s bad there - of course, the service and descents of Austria cannot be compared with Zakopane. But the cost of a trip with the whole family for 7 days is not an unimportant thing for the budget of an average family. Through numerous trials, we came to the conclusion that Zakopane is the best that can be invented for us.
We lived in different hotels. In private boarding houses.
But for the last 2 years (and this year we also plan to) we have been staying at the KOLEJARZ hotel. There are better hotels. But the price and quality are commensurate here. Hotel after renovation. The furniture is good. Normal bathrooms, there is always hot water. Neat, clean. Good bedding.
But the most important thing for me as a mother is excellent nutrition. Breakfast - buffet. The choice is normal, everything is very tasty. There are slices of various ham and cheese, salads, pickles, eggs, from hot - they constantly change either some sausages, or pancakes, or scrambled eggs, there is hot milk with dry breakfasts. For tea, cocoa or coffee there are pastries, jam. (I even make sandwiches for my child and take them with me as a second breakfast). In the evening, at 5-6 o'clock, when we return from the mountains tired and hungry, we will have a late lunch. There are huge portions on the table - we don't eat them. The first thing is always delicious in a saucepan (you can pour at least two plates). And the second course is always with a large piece of meat, salads, side dishes. And of course for the third baking. The cook in this hotel cooks VERY TASTY!!! ! When we lived in hotels for breakfast, much more money was spent on food. And so we only in the evening in a kalybka order something tasty, or sweet.
And one more advantage of the hotel: in the evening, when we have a rest, the whole family goes for a walk together. 7 minutes (we spotted) - and we are in the center on Krupovki. Every evening - a new program - either a water park (5 minutes before it), or a trip to the shops and the market. We ride the rides. Husband and child love the shooting gallery - we constantly come home with a bunch of soft toys - they know us by sight in the shooting gallery. At Christmas we go to the forest on a sleigh with torches, go skating, well, you can’t list everything. We are attracted to Zakopane precisely because it is not a banal 20 hotels near the ski lifts and 5-6 kalybs like in Slovakia, but a town with a lot of entertainment.
The hotel is well located for skiing. Of course, you won’t reach the slides (although a small descent with a yoke for beginners is across the road). But near Kolyazh there is a bus station, and all transport and minibuses on the hills are here. Left the hotel - put the skis in the minibus, sat down and went where necessary. We have been riding for a long time, not extreme sportsmen, but we love difficult tracks. My 7 year old is already in his 3rd year of skiing, she needs medium pistes. In Zakopane, in six days of skiing, we manage to ride almost all ski resorts. So as not to become boring and there was a variety. Therefore, it makes no sense to take a hotel under any one mountain - what if you don’t like these particular slopes?
And I recommend Kolyazh!!! ! And I'm going there myself this year!

I liked the hotel quite well, it corresponds to its 2 * and even better. Clean, tidy, very conveniently located. The biggest drawback that I found was a small room, but for the two of us it was completely crowded. Friends traveled with a child - the travel agency advised us to take a superior room, with an arch - large, comfortable - they were also satisfied. The food is great! Well done Poles. Very tasty food, large portions. Traditional buffet breakfast, which was enough to spend half a day on the slope. Dinner with hot and decent quality. The remoteness of the hotel from the slopes can be both a disadvantage and an advantage - for 6 days we rode on 3 complexes: Byalka, Harenda and Polyana Shimoshkova, if we had taken a hotel near one mountain, we would have sat there. And so - for an amateur. Friends skiing beginners - they liked Bialka. For me, Harenda. This year I want to master the Forge - our friends told us that it is a steep, good mountain. And it’s also convenient to get there - there is a bus station near the hotel: all minibuses go to any mountain from there. And one more advantage of the hotel - close to all entertainment. My wife loves discos and "shopping" - please, the center is 10 minutes. walk. I love the sauna, jacuzzi - water park nearby. The hotel is excellent - I advise everyone! !

It would be appropriate to post here my review of the trip to Zakopane for the New Year 2006.
We traveled from Odessa to Lvov by train, from there by bus. By bus to go all day, arrived somewhere at 7 pm. If it had been snowing, we could have come at night.
Zakopane is correctly called a "promenade" resort: half of the people don't ski, but just wander around the mountains, which, by the way, annoyed me a little. In Slovakia, there are about 5 percent of such strength. But in Zakopane there is nightlife (in Slovakia, you can already go to bed at 5 pm). But this is not for everyone, I came to ride.
Gubalowka is good because it is located in the city center, 10-15 minutes walk from my hotel. I lived in the hotel "Collage" (Kolejarz) near the bus station and train station. The hotel is not strong, but only after renovation (the room stinks, you need to ventilate), heat, shower, TV.
There were no bedside tables and some things had to be laid out on the floor. The food was good, but monotonous. New Year's dinner is so-so, for some reason they served herring after dessert.
Gubał ó wka has many trails for beginners, and nearby there are trails for intermediate skiers, which is good for motley companies. It's funny, the main track on Gubalowka was officially closed, but everyone skated. The reason: some horseradish forbade driving on his land, through which the highway passes, and the authorities could not do anything. Therefore, the track is in poor condition, bumps. But not far (behind the TV tower 100 m) there is the Kotelnich track, you can ride there if you get tired of Gubalowka. And you even have to ride there, because one climb on Gubalowka costs 8 zlotys, and there was no day ticket, because, let me remind you, the track was officially closed!
But it is best to go to Shimashkova.
You can do it on top from Gubalowka (it takes about 20 minutes to walk with skis), or on the bottom, but then I advise you to buy a map if you are going to walk or take a taxi. You can also take the bus, but for some reason no one could explain to me which number to go there. I reached the hotel on the map in half an hour.
Shimashkova is super, everything is there for advanced and beginners. I took my soul there. The only thing was that there were long queues before the New Year, each time there was a 20-minute queue for the lift. For beginners, in addition to the tracks below, I recommend the track at the top, 200 meters to the right of the lift.
On Shimashkova, a cool Salomon rental is not the most expensive, but the skis and boots are new and cool. In general, there are no problems with rental anywhere, you can always take it, except for Kasprovgo Verkh. I recommend going there with skis and boots. By the way, here is another difference from Slovakia: there I always took a set for the entire stay, because.
there are discounts and no need to stand in line for a rental, and besides, it is convenient to drive everywhere by train or bus. But in Zakopane, this makes no sense, because a day is more expensive than a day (that is, it will cost even more), and there are no queues for rentals. The same with instructors. In Slovakia, you have to pay for the instructor the day before, but in Poland you come, hire and study. And it’s better to get into the bus schedule with someone who knows Polish, etc.
All rentals, instructors, etc. work from 9 o'clock, there is no point in poking around earlier. In Slovakia, everything has been spinning since 8.
Well, Casprovy top. I thought for a long time when to go there, because I heard chilling stories about crazy queues for 2 hours, and decided on January 2, the last day of my stay.
Arrived there at 8 o'clock. 30, the queue was about half an hour, which is very good. I found a small and only rental (! ), where I took not very good equipment. But the rental is open from 7h. thirty! We drove upstairs.
The lifts (chairs) were not working yet, the left one was turned on only at 10:30 and until 14:45. The right one (and you can go down this road) was not turned on at all. There was a rather heavy fog (there is a frequent occurrence) And when the wind blows, Kasprovy is generally closed (January 1 and December 31 did not work, as they say).
We rode on the left track (Zhymanska, it seems). Gentlemen skiers, evaluate your strength! The level of training must be above average to go there. I started as a beginner, I fell 2 times, but I could not get up, a sheer wall! I put on skis lying down. But then I got used to it, and somehow started to ride sideways. Kasprovy top is steeper than Strbsko Pleso in terms of difficulty! On the second track, everyone then moved down (it is easier, and half in the valley is generally easy, it goes through the forest, it reminds me of the track in Stary Smokovec, which no longer exists).
I have not been to Nosal, but one Belarusian told me that there is the most difficult track (steeper than Kasprovy Verkh). Will have to check. In general, I believe the Belarusians!
