Concert Hall Kursalon

Vienna Kursalon, Kursalon Hübner, Kursalon Hübner
Austria, Vienna
The Kursalon is a concert hall located in the southwestern part of the Vienna City Park. It was built in 1867 as a hydropathic sanatorium, but a year later, after the Strauss concert, it began to be used as a concert hall, which it remains to this day - more than 500 concerts are held here annually. The two-storey building, made in the Italian neo-Renaissance style, features a huge terrace overlooking the park.

In order to improve the city park in 1865-1867, it was built a house designed by architect Johann Garbo in the style of the Italian Renaissance, which was originally used as a spa: it offered mineral water from all resorts of the empire. But soon after the opening of the building changed the purpose: on October 15.1868 in Coursalon was the first concert of Johann Strauss. In 1908, Kursalon was leased to Hans Hü bner, after which it became known as Kursalon Hü bner. In 1990, the city administration sold the building to the Hü bner family.
