The monument to the Heroes of the Soviet Army who died in the battle for Vienna in 1945 was erected on Schwarzenbergplatz immediately after the end of World War II, in mid-August 1945. This the memorial complex was designed by the architect G. Yakovlev and made by the sculptor M. Intezaryan. It is a 12-meter bronze figure of a soldier with a machine gun and a banner in his hands, towering on a high pedestal surrounded by a semicircular marble colonnade. On the pedestal of the monument there is a plaque with the names of the soldiers who died during the liberation of Vienna in 1945. This Soviet memorial is in good condition, and flower beds are laid out around it.

The coolness of the fountain attracts people
Mostly in Vienna, the fountains are beautiful sculptures with thin streams of water. And this fountain is the first "high" fountain, ie with a high water pressure, the jet of which creates a large area of ​ ​ coolness. And the monument to the fallen soldiers is put in order.→

The operation to liberate Vienna from the Nazis was completed in April 1945. By this time, the Soviet army already had extensive experience in offensive operations, but the situation was complicated by the task of preserving the capital of Austria from destruction as much as possible, despite the fact that the Nazis thoroughly used city buildings as defensive structures and mined bridges. A monument to 17 thousand soldiers and officers who gave their lives for the liberation of Vienna from the Nazis was erected on Schwarzenbergplatz immediately in the year of the Victory and opened in August forty-fifth!
